Does anyone want a thread for people who are happy for Harry and Meghan?

Just seeing if there’s any interest. I think they have their faults but I think this may turn out to be a good thing long term. Anyone want to join in?

I think we should keep this thread bumped. @mnhq might take notice

FairyLightsAreMyCrack · 22/01/2020 18:04

Could it be that @mnhq are Meghan and Harry bashers too? I can't think of any other reason to let this carry on.

They frequently seem to value web traffic and volume over accurate information and deleting hateful posts. It seems to be going in the direction of certain tabloids, and they must not mind that certain threads and subjects look a lot like a tabloid comment section.

RoseAndRose · 22/01/2020 18:12

"Do posters get banned for reporting posts if they feel they are unfair and the comments are unpleasant??"

Not unless they keep on and on reporting similar people sets which chbthey have repeatedly been told do not break talk guidelines

PortiaCastis · 22/01/2020 18:56

Decency
Humanity
Empathy
Self awareness
Kindness
All qualities sadly missing on threads being mentioned

Aridane · 22/01/2020 19:36

Out of morbid curiosity, went on to see a Meghan thread on Royal Family section. And delighted to see that one on the baby sling is full of posters defending MM and roundly rebuking the MM bashing posters

As a general rule of thumb, if Piers Morgan doesn't like someone or something I think I probably will.

I'm fairly ambivalent about the Royal family other than thinking Andrew is a disgrace. I prefer a constitutionally neutral Head of State like HMQ than an elected maniac like Trump. That said, Harry and Megan seem nice enough and I wish them well. I hope they sue the arses off the press and win. We need higher press standards in this country, I'm all for Leveson 2 with teeth.

Aridane · 22/01/2020 19:52

Oh goodness

I've just looked at a MM thread, having been lulled into a sense of false security by the one I linked above.

Surely they can't be that bad, I though. Yes, maybe some deranged posters but surely not that bad.

But fuck me they're vile

BonnesVacances · 22/01/2020 20:01

I wonder how some of those posters would appreciate a thread about them dedicated to dissecting their gleeful posts about impending divorce and a hen pecked Harry and making numerous assumptions about why they're so vile and bitter? After all, they've posted in the public domain so have left themselves open to it. Of course we'd do no such thing, but it'd be interesting to see how much they'd liked it and whether MNHQ deemed that to be in the spirit of the site?

PortiaCastis · 22/01/2020 20:10

Do people grow up vile bitter and twisted or do they take a degree course?

DaveCoaches · 22/01/2020 20:22

I think people have just lost their minds. Harry is now being quoted as saying he wants to stop The Crown on Netflix. If you read further it actually says someone met him and he said “I want it to stop before they get to me” - it was probably just a joke as small talk ffs!

I honestly wonder what the posters on these vile threads lives must be like to feel the need to scrutinise H & MM to such a degree. The assumptions and hideous gossiping are just pathetic. Awful, embittered, low bar, nosey people!!!

SecretWitch · 22/01/2020 21:28

Bumping this thread. Haters, bat shit crazy and racists..we see you👀

Interesting joyful. There does seem to be different rules for different people...

I reported a really awful long post earlier. To be fair to MNHQ they did remove it quickly.

BBInSleepsCounting · 22/01/2020 22:41

Count me in. Like many people I have reported posts and threads and asked MNHQ to take them down, and also posted my own thoughts in response to all the hate being spewed.

It's trolling, harassment, bullying and just plain peddling of vile gossip and lies. I detect the rotten stink of jealousy, misogyny and - yes - racism. You have to feel sorry for these people to some extent.

MNHQ get so much right, but sometimes they get it wrong. This time, they're getting it wrong.

Geoffreythecat · 22/01/2020 23:09

None of those posters would ever say what they're written to the person's face. To me that's the test of an acceptable post about someone.

The thing is though, online trolling and bullying isn't victimless, these are real people with feelings and in Harry's case, mental health issues he has confirmed himself. Maybe the worst posters should be forced to watch the documentary by Jesy Nelson. That was heartbreaking.

GoFiguire · 22/01/2020 23:13

I would

StarbucksSmarterSister · 23/01/2020 01:56

got an email from @MNHQ saying their “libel policy” is that they don’t delete posts that are libellous unless the subject of the post contacts them personally.

I reported one the other day which was awful and I said was potentially libellous and they took it down. Does it depend on who responds?

BBInSleepsCounting · 23/01/2020 02:13

It probably shouldn't depend, but it seems to IME, yes.

BBInSleepsCounting · 23/01/2020 02:31

I think some people would say these vile things IRL, Geoffrey, though many will be hiding behind the skirts of anonymity, it's true. I keep hoping they will all throttle themselves on their rattling poisonous pearls of wisdom and hateful hoiked up judgy pants at some point soon.

Buggedandconfused · 23/01/2020 07:30

Morning bump for our positive, happy, kind thread

peridito · 23/01/2020 07:47

Thanks for bumping .meant I saw BB's post with an image that made me smile .

Showershower · 23/01/2020 07:49

I’m very indifferent about it. Forced to have an opinion, I’m pleased for them. People are horrible to them here! If I were them, I’d escape too.

Good for them! Carving out their own life away from all the toxic shit over here.

Destinysdaughter · 23/01/2020 07:56

Yep another one who thinks, good for them. The level of vitriol she received was appalling. It makes me ashamed to be British. This country has become so hate filled, I'm not surprised she wants to escape it.

Roussette · 23/01/2020 08:27

And me.

Agree.
