Just seeing if there’s any interest. I think they have their faults but I think this may turn out to be a good thing long term. Anyone want to join in?

I guess now they won’t be in the press so much all the mean spirited, cruel and unkind threads about her on here will stop. The MN bullies will no doubt find someone else to troll (aided by @mnhq no doubt)

Roussette · 23/01/2020 09:52

There will always be something, some snippet or other about their lives, enough to give those that want to an opportunity to pick over and criticise.

When you've got posters registering VPNs as if they are in Canada as opposed to the UK where they really are (batshit crazy I know) to get the lowdown from over there, something tells me it ain't gonna stop.

Samcro · 23/01/2020 09:52

sadly I Think the doc with her awful father has fanned the hate flames further.
imo people will have different opinions on things, but unlike most threads, where you get a balance. some on mn have turned into clubs, anyone with a differing opinion or question is shouted down and called names. that is where is goes wrong. it becomes not a debate or conversation, but a pile in off bullies.

Grubby little man touting his family around for cash, shameful !

Roussette · 23/01/2020 10:17

Given he has about 6 grandchildren who have nothing to do with him, that says something to me.

peridito · 23/01/2020 10:41

While I'm glad that MNHQ have appealed to posters on thread (?12 ) I'm puzzled .
It seems to me that the current thread is free of a lot of the unsubstantiated criticisms of the previous ones .And has differing views being aired .
Perhaps it's the discussions about narcissists ?

Anyway ,glad to see Peace and Love being urged . Not enough kindness in the world if you ask me .

Hi all,

Can we please bear in mind that it's really not on to speculate about someone's mental health? We'd hate to have to delete this thread but if the speculation continues, we will need to take it down.

Peace and love.

Geoffreythecat · 23/01/2020 10:57

There's been speculation for 12 bloody threads, some of it so vicious, eg about Meghan's motives for marrying Harry (started as fact of course) yet they haven't taken then down. Talk about double standards. So it's ok to state someone is calculating, married for kudos, will use their child for money etc as infinitum but not ok to suggest mental illness. What a bugger's muddle of moderation MN have got themselves into.

MissSmith1 · 23/01/2020 10:58

I think people are tiring of it.
I wonder who which woman will be next.

PortiaCastis · 23/01/2020 11:01

Those folk are showing their true colours and are fantasists

Frezia · 23/01/2020 11:54

If there are any narcissists in her family it would sooner be her father and sister than Meghan. The way they couldn't stand that she was getting global attention and had to get in the spotlight themselves. Classic.

Although I did raise an eyebrow to Harry's "royals will be the family she never had" - royals, really? Hardly the model of a supportive family!
He just poked the "beast" and gave them ammo... didn't need to do that. It was very naive of him.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 23/01/2020 12:06

I had some news items about M and H come up on my FB feed today, one from the Independent. Many of the comments below were appalling. People are truly vile.

And yes, MissSmith I wonder which woman will be next.

PortiaCastis · 23/01/2020 13:32

Wonder how much the Duchess's Father has made from touting her round the world's media
Despicable creature

emilybrontescorsett · 23/01/2020 13:45

I think it’s a shame they have had to make the decision they have.
I believe Meghan would have made an inspirational figure within the royal family. She strikes me as being intelligent, sincere and motivational.
Doing good things and being a very positive role model to girls and young women.
Well done for her not turning into a simpering wallflower.
As for her background or family who cares?
She is more inspirational having had such a dick as a father and a low life ‘sister’ who lets face it, are not and never were huge parts of her life.
Meghan just has the misfortune of birth connecting her to her father and half sister.
The pair of them are a disgrace.
Good luck to Harry and Meghan.

I for one don’t ever buy or read the papers so I’m not up to date with things. I can’t stand Piers Morgan , don’t forget he gave the go ahead to the phone tapping of Milly Dowler.

Leave M and H alone.

Buggedandconfused · 23/01/2020 13:47

If @mnhq are having to tell people to stop speculating about the mental health of someone on a thread like this then surely the thread should be pulled.

Shame on you @mnhq

peridito · 23/01/2020 14:52

I think this current thread is ,much less harmful than earlier ones and as a general rule I don't like whole threads being pulled .

If the odd prompt from MNHQ and deletion of any particularly bad posts works I think that's preferable .

I'm not sure about how consistent MNHQ are about intervention .I struggled a bit to work out why they were intervening in the thread now and hadn't earlier .

Which made me think they didn't like some of the claims about Meghan's mental attitude ,but it seems more likely that it was speculation about Harry that was the cause for concern .

Samcro · 23/01/2020 14:58

imo its getting worse. now her awful father is being mentioned and seems to have made them sympathetic. they will keep hating and calling people s*** as they really think they have the moral high ground.
I kind of understand why mn hq leave the threads up. if someone is so obsessed that they start countless threads. they are not going to just be quiet. so maybe allowing them one place, in the right topic, to vent the hate, is easier.

Roussette · 23/01/2020 15:08

Which made me think they didn't like some of the claims about Meghan's mental attitude ,but it seems more likely that it was speculation about Harry that was the cause for concern

But MM has been called dysfunctional, gold digger, desperate for approval, narcissistic, damaged, a loser and someone with a disconnect with reality. And worse.

Harry's MH is mentioned briefly and MN intervene.

I am extremely puzzled by all this. As I've said before, I've been here when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and seen threads pulled for just a miniscule of what has been posted in these past 11 or however many, threads. I just don't understand it and I'd love MNHQ to properly explain why MM is fair game but others (celebs, big families, etc) are pulled.

Is it honestly something as simple as it's clickbait??? Are MN losing members and need more traffic?

rockingchaircandle · 23/01/2020 15:22

I think the mental health warning was about narcissism discussion. I'd just reported posts and complained about the baseless diagnosing. The thread's still bullying, speculation and gleeful in its spite. I have no idea how grown ups can behave like this.

Flacker · 23/01/2020 15:32

I think the treatment Meghan's been getting is appalling and people will look back in 5 years and think 'what the heck was that all about?'

Wish them all the best, they seem like a nice couple! I couldn't care less what they do with their lives, don't really understand why anyone would.

Roussette · 23/01/2020 15:38

Totally agree with emilybronte post above. I think she would've been a force for good in the RF and the country. She would have brought a different perspective over here and I welcomed her hooking up with Harry.

I honestly think, as a couple, they looked to the future, they realised that the nasty press was never going to stop because of various reasons (her family, her father, maybe her ethnicity, her not being the typical English rose) and now they have a son they just thought... I can't do this. Like this. I hope they can manage to bring Archie up away from the toxicity of the british press.

Buggedandconfused · 23/01/2020 15:39

I am actually thinking that @mhhq are financially benefiting from these awful posts which is why they won’t pull them.

Triglesoffy · 23/01/2020 15:46

I’m thinking that this is a TAAT do you should be careful.

Bluerussian · 23/01/2020 16:09

Someone above mentioned 'narcissm' - very fashionable at the moment. I linked to a blog earlier by an H G Tudor who claims to be a sociopathic narcissist. He also claims that Meghan is one.

Looking at the list of typical narcissistic characteristics, she's the last person to be a narcissist!

Who cares though, Mr Tudor is making money.

Samcro · 23/01/2020 16:22

@Triglesoffy no it isn't. its the only place that the non haters can talk.
I don't think its wrong to question why a parenting site allows the bullying of a parent. imo its a valid question.
I like mn and find most of the time its ok. but it seems odd at the moment.
