Harry and Meghan Resigning (Act 6 Scene 2) Is Everyone Okay?

This is Thread Eight in a series which I did not imagine would last more than one.

Meghan's friends are now writing on social media that she has been fortunate to "escape the clutches" of the Royal Family.

We, who care enough for the Queen that we are appalled by Meghan's blatant disrespect for the Crown (and the family which embraced her) are still reeling as we go from revelation to revelation. This bizarre and unprecedented situation has unfolded over a period of just eight days.

We are now beginning to see what Meghan's likely agenda was. It seems that abandoning the UK was her plan even prior to the wedding - a wedding which cost the British people £20,000,000.

Not many people actually begrudged paying that £20,000,000. But some were prescient enough to say that the marriage would not last and that Meghan would abandon this country once she had a child.

She has. She has fulfilled those prognostications amply.

It was just rather...quicker than perhaps we had imagined...…. and a good deal more brutal. Cries of "racism" have abounded - cries which are simply not justified.

What will happen next? Meghan has gone to Canada, a country which does not seem particularly keen to foot the huge bill for security which her presence requires. She is dropping in on charities for disadvantaged women, almost unannounced, without the backing or knowledge of Buckingham Palace. It is cringeworthy and embarrassing in the extreme.

Prince Harry seems to be lost in the maelstrom of public opinion. What will happen next? Will Meghan announce a second pregnancy?

And is the RF okay?

I live quite far from my brother and his kids, and my dh's siblings (some are a plane journey away, and others an eight hour drive until motorways improved). Not as far as Heathrow to the Pacific. My kids love meeting their cousins. (That is mainly the reason I visit my inlaws).
Harry seemed to get on with Zara and the Yorks, and with Pippa. I assume he got on with the Spencers.
Meghan doesn't seem to get on with anyone, has no siblings on her mum's side - Archie will miss out on the cousins. It seemed different to a sibling bond or a friend bond, watching 'the cousins' here.

JeansNTees · 17/01/2020 16:53

The Crown owns it still I thought? I quite fancy the pink house, an absolute steal at £3700 per month Crown Grin

SunsetBoulevard3 · 17/01/2020 16:55

Well if Charles can run B and Bs from the Castle of May, I don't see why not!

Lordfrontpaw · 17/01/2020 16:56

They could have done this in a way where they stepped back from the limelight, took less money and lives quietly on some huge estate in the U.K. somewhere, doing the old bit of charity work in between riding the horsies and hosting their celeb mates in fancy house parties.

But they seemed hellbent on going to the US, doing their own thing and giving the family/press/us lot the finger in the way out.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/01/2020 16:57

@TheMustressMhor

Thank you. Your virtual Gaviscon got me through, till I got home and got my hands on the real thing plus some Rennie.

I brought Peppermint tea bags on the way home.

I am back on my way to being ok

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/01/2020 17:03

Didn't she famously give all her clothes away when she stepped up to royalty?

I think she had a Sayanara Zara party when she got her job in suits.

I bet she sells some of her Dior & Givenchy (horrors) as she has a new life.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/01/2020 17:04

All her tour clothes were paid for by the Foreign office. (Us).
I bet she does a Diana style charity auction

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/01/2020 17:05

And thank you too @yolofish. I find so few people these days appreciate that it's just not enough for me to toddle on surviving. I NEED to thrive, to live my best life, so I can speak my truth, get my voice heard, wear baggy jumpers, and let my light shine, doing so unfettered by convention, expectation, responsibility, consequences........

Grin
SunsetBoulevard3 · 17/01/2020 17:09

I also wondered if a lot of the anger Harry clearly has is misdirected anger that he can't allow himself to feel against the RF. I wonder if watching Meghan struggle has triggered more anger as he thinks about how much more vulnerable Diana was, how she was just used and discarded. She had no family support herself and was just a young girl. I also wonder how he copes with thinking about his father's role in all this?

He's displaced that anger onto the media I think.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 17/01/2020 17:11

I think you're onto something there @SunsetBoulevard3. Far easier to blame the faceless unwashed masses than confront his own father and other senior royals.

yolofish · 17/01/2020 17:13

Catherine pmsl! you hang on in there with the baggy jumpers babe, you are truly living your best life and I am so glad you can breathe at last - is that due to the baggy jumper?! (somehow I feel that mine and Megzie's version of a baggy jumper are not quite the same, given that mine are usually teamed with wellies, or even worse, Backdoor Shoes!)

The80sweregreat · 17/01/2020 17:13

Are the newly sacked staff at Frogmore ' thriving'?

Froq · 17/01/2020 17:16

The baggy jumpers = pregnancy rumours = more attention.

We’re gonna see pointless staged pap photos every day now aren’t we? Airport runs, charity visits, lunch with celebs.

I give it a week before her blog, the Tig, is live again. Tig Tots was trademarked recently too (along with the butter, socks, etc).

She’s overdoing it. This time next year she’ll replace Paul Burrell as the royal gossip.

queenofarles · 17/01/2020 17:17

All her tour clothes were paid for by the Foreign office. (Us).

Curly the Marrakesh clothes are by far the most expensive. It was all couture.
But seeing they invited themselves to Marrakech , wonder if Charles paid for it?

BestIsWest · 17/01/2020 17:17

I have no interest in the Royals (I enjoyed The Crown though) but I have just read all 8 threads.

I am not ok though - rotten cold and horrendous wind. Can I join you?

DH loves HM and is very hurt on her behalf.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/01/2020 17:20

So this idea that the great/good/wealthy/woke will be forming a queue at H&M's door I can't see working out for them frankly.

The key to this is whether they keep their titles, as well as their perception as UK working Royals. That's what the whole 'We will continue to collaborate with the Queen' statement is all about. You don't think they included that pathetic sideline out of a sense of genuine duty do you? Definitely not. It's the opposite.

It's how continued association with the Queen will work for them

They know DAMN WELL that the success of their future plans is entirely incumbent upon being seen or at least perceived as Royals with access to senior Royalty. They need the stardust. They need The Queen and PC to add a cloak of legitimacy. For the Queen to give them their blessing.

Once this is achieved I think the Celeb 'friends' will be only too happy to give vocal support

If the Sussexes keep HRH or possibly even Duke and Duchess then once this dies down it'll be like Game of Thrones.

They'll be a King in the North aka M&H with W&K collectively representing Cersei Lannister down here.

TheMustressMhor · 17/01/2020 17:25

@BestIsWest

Certainly you can join us.

Especially if you are currently not ok.

This gives the rest of us ample opportunities to ask you if you're "now ok" over the next few days.

To anyone who is Not Ok

Roll up, roll up.

No judgement here.

We are becoming a gang here!
The ' we're ok , thanks for asking ' gang.
We know how to live.

SingingLily · 17/01/2020 17:27

@katiegoestoaldi

Happy Birthday! I'm sorry you are surviving, not thriving, but I'm hoping this virtual 🍷 and 🍰 might make a difference.

Autumn, the "are you OK" thing is a send-up of MM's teary claim on the African tour that "Not many people ask me if I'm OK" - this when she was surrounded by people living in the direst poverty and with debilitating health conditions. She made it All About Her.

Anyway - and you know this is important to me - are you OK?

TheMustressMhor · 17/01/2020 17:27

I have to say that whether or not they keep their titles, they will be extremely newsworthy forever more.
I am gobsmacked by their Instagram pages. The crassness of everything they post is breathtaking.

OP posts:
BestIsWest · 17/01/2020 17:30

Can I ask about their logo? Is that an M with a crown over it? Just an M? No H or S?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/01/2020 17:30

No more Royal clothes, she’s wearing clothes from her acting days now

I wonder if she intends to sell her unwanted "royal clothes", a la Diana?

A pal of mine insisted that she rapidly bought so much couture because it would make a lot more than lesser labels when auctioned ... a bit mean, I used to think, but now I'm starting to wonder

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 17/01/2020 17:31

According to the DM an announcement is imminent BUT the issues of security, titles and future finances are yet to be worked out. FFS, don't they know these are the things we're most bothered about?
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7899875/Queens-aides-finalise-details-Megxit-deal-announcement-imminent.html

What on earth has been sorted then?

@MurrayTheMonk

I will support your claim for 'stand in Royal' but only if you make Leeds Castle your seat. Catherine of Aragon liked it there.

Can't support Hever. Home of that witch, Anne Boleyn.
