Harry and Meghan Resigning (Act 6 Scene 2) Is Everyone Okay?

This is Thread Eight in a series which I did not imagine would last more than one.

Meghan's friends are now writing on social media that she has been fortunate to "escape the clutches" of the Royal Family.

We, who care enough for the Queen that we are appalled by Meghan's blatant disrespect for the Crown (and the family which embraced her) are still reeling as we go from revelation to revelation. This bizarre and unprecedented situation has unfolded over a period of just eight days.

We are now beginning to see what Meghan's likely agenda was. It seems that abandoning the UK was her plan even prior to the wedding - a wedding which cost the British people £20,000,000.

Not many people actually begrudged paying that £20,000,000. But some were prescient enough to say that the marriage would not last and that Meghan would abandon this country once she had a child.

She has. She has fulfilled those prognostications amply.

It was just rather...quicker than perhaps we had imagined...…. and a good deal more brutal. Cries of "racism" have abounded - cries which are simply not justified.

What will happen next? Meghan has gone to Canada, a country which does not seem particularly keen to foot the huge bill for security which her presence requires. She is dropping in on charities for disadvantaged women, almost unannounced, without the backing or knowledge of Buckingham Palace. It is cringeworthy and embarrassing in the extreme.

Prince Harry seems to be lost in the maelstrom of public opinion. What will happen next? Will Meghan announce a second pregnancy?

And is the RF okay?

@AutumnRose1

Kate’s hair was more securely attached on her wedding day

SerenDippitty · 17/01/2020 13:01

Diana’s hair on her wedding day didn’t look like a stylist had been anywhere near it. It looked like she’d quickly blow dried it herself after a swim or something,

I’m ok btw.

fallen121 · 17/01/2020 13:02

Regarding MM not actually visiting the women's centre in person but actually the administration offices...

I thought the women in the picture looked remarkably well dressed and well fed!

I think about Diana's late night visits to hospitals which were known about but not widely reported on or photographed. And AIDs patients she had spent time with and the famous "handshake" with the dying AIDs patient at the Middlesex hospital in 1987 wasn't setup because the staff didn't know in advance if Diana would arrive wearing gloves or not. She didn't.

MM has a LOT to learn about being Royal. If she had really cared then why not engage some female security and go meet some of the women using the centre in person?

Froq · 17/01/2020 13:04

why not engage some female security and go meet some of the women using the centre in person?

The women using the centre would likely be valuing the privacy element of doing so.

Privacy = no photo ops.
No photo ops = no Meg.

SerenDippitty · 17/01/2020 13:07

MM has a LOT to learn about being Royal.

I don’t think she has any interest in learning, that’s the problem.

MorningCalm · 17/01/2020 13:15

DM? Seriously? They went to Meghan's Ex husband who just married last year. His newly wed life shouldn't be disturbed by the press.

AutumnRose1 · 17/01/2020 13:19

Her ex as well?

Proper privacy laws needed worldwide.

Yes, I remember hearing about Pippa’s bum!

didofido · 17/01/2020 13:22

I watched the wedding of M&H with a group of friends. One said,"She'll have a baby as soon as possible and go back to L.A. within 5 years, taking it with her. Live the rest of her life on royal handouts"
We all rather turned on her "unkind", "give them a chance", "they look really happy".

Well, it's only taken her two years. When do you think she'll divorce Harry?

TeaLibrary · 17/01/2020 13:26

I just want them both gone. Off British soil never to return. They have insulted the Queen and they have absolutely insulted the British people. They need to fuck off abroad and be stripped of any of the wealth/ titles /privilege / lavish taxpayer funded lifestyle and any entitlement to public funded bodyguards. Think harry will find that he is a lot less marketable as plain old harry markle than as HRH Prince Henry of Wales. They stripped Beatrice and Eugenie of their royal protection because they were non senior non working royals. Why should Harry and the money grabbing social climbing narcissist be any different. They hate us and use their friends to spew bile to the press about the British people and the monarchy. Well I hope the door hits them on the arse on the way out. Fuck off you pair of ungrateful parasites and good riddance.

I heard that Diana wouldn't wait for her hair to be finished and that was why it flopped. Perhaps it had to have more product or be completely dry because of the tiara?

wombandovaries · 17/01/2020 13:43

Cacao - completely agree. It’s like she’s following Diana’s post-Charles approach but overlooking the lack of goodwill that Diana had built up to do so. I can’t help but become more and more cynical of their objectives as they could have quietly shuffled back from public life with the Queens support and lived lavishly and privately on an estate somewhere here. But, clearly, obscurity is not the objective.

Mulledwineinajug · 17/01/2020 13:47

You lot are bonkers.
Do you know them? Why do you care? Why can’t they just live life as they choose?

ajandjjmum · 17/01/2020 13:54

They are living life as they choose Mulledwine. Just that we are still paying for it, and I think we therefore have a right to comment - and care!

Antigonads · 17/01/2020 13:58

Of course they can live life as they choose, if they give up anything associated with being a Prince of the realm. Everything they enjoy at the moment comes from Harry being a Prince of the United Kingdom.

PlacidPenelope · 17/01/2020 13:58

Why can’t they just live life as they choose?

They can but not at the expense of UK taxpayers or taxpayers of other countries. Their privileged status comes from the positions they hold within/as part of the Royal Family of the UK, they don't want to be within the confines of the RF and do what is required of them in return for their status, privilege and funding then remove themselves totally and go live the life they want at their own expense and on their own merits.

I do find it rather sad that several people have spoken out, like Rebecca English, who have known and worked alongside Harry for years and they all say the same thing - he fundamentally changed for the worse once he got with Meghan.

Wheresthebeach · 17/01/2020 14:00

They are welcome to crack on...but not as Royals on our dime unless they want to do the work that goes with it. And they don't.

willothewispa · 17/01/2020 14:01

I wonder if the delay to Heathrow flights this morning because of an RAF flight was Harry going to Canada ?

NumbersStation · 17/01/2020 14:02

@TheMustressMhor

I got deleted yesterday and I didn’t see my comment as terribly awful either. I suspect that someone objected to what I said as racist when in fact it was nothing of the sort.

And if they actually saw me they would know why. I am very similar - except I’m fat, ugly, not rich and childless. I can be a cow but I never fecked over my family. Or anyone else’s family. But you can probably guess how I’m slightly similar. And I have bloody untidy hair as well.

Racist I am not. I take exception to that. And I wasn’t a cow. It was merely an observation. But clearly someone got a touch upset.

So I’m sorry. But if you read something that isn’t said at all then some bumps might need feeling.

fallen121 · 17/01/2020 14:02

*The women using the centre would likely be valuing the privacy element of doing so.

Privacy = no photo ops.
No photo ops = no Meg. *

This conclusively proves she has ZERO interest in the women's centre and 100% interest in pimping herself about as a woman who cares about women's issues. Which is not the same thing.

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 17/01/2020 14:04

This is all fascinating. I lost touch with the other threads but wanted to check in today after smirk-gate.
History in the making.

DeRigueurMortis · 17/01/2020 14:05

I wonder when we will get details re: the deal the RF have offered H&M?

queenofarles · 17/01/2020 14:09

She wants the Hollywood star lifestyle (and she was never going to be Hollywood royalty). I’m familiar with many so called A listers, I don’t know them personally but I attend a lot of events they go to.
Not all A listers live this type of life, perhaps just Leo and George, but not all of them. I think the kind of lifestyle they are after is David Gaffens Yacht, multiple houses , private jet.

I’m also intrigued by the sudden tabloid pics of MM, what’s that all about? Do they call the paps?

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfThigh · 17/01/2020 14:09

If they were going with The Stone Roses, they should have chosen 'I Wanna Be Adored'. Just as relevant. Less offensive.

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfThigh · 17/01/2020 14:10

If the other one WAS offensive - I'm not on Insta and can't be bothered to investigate fully!
