Harry and Meghan Resigning (Act 6 Scene 2) Is Everyone Okay?

This is Thread Eight in a series which I did not imagine would last more than one.

Meghan's friends are now writing on social media that she has been fortunate to "escape the clutches" of the Royal Family.

We, who care enough for the Queen that we are appalled by Meghan's blatant disrespect for the Crown (and the family which embraced her) are still reeling as we go from revelation to revelation. This bizarre and unprecedented situation has unfolded over a period of just eight days.

We are now beginning to see what Meghan's likely agenda was. It seems that abandoning the UK was her plan even prior to the wedding - a wedding which cost the British people £20,000,000.

Not many people actually begrudged paying that £20,000,000. But some were prescient enough to say that the marriage would not last and that Meghan would abandon this country once she had a child.

She has. She has fulfilled those prognostications amply.

It was just rather...quicker than perhaps we had imagined...…. and a good deal more brutal. Cries of "racism" have abounded - cries which are simply not justified.

What will happen next? Meghan has gone to Canada, a country which does not seem particularly keen to foot the huge bill for security which her presence requires. She is dropping in on charities for disadvantaged women, almost unannounced, without the backing or knowledge of Buckingham Palace. It is cringeworthy and embarrassing in the extreme.

Prince Harry seems to be lost in the maelstrom of public opinion. What will happen next? Will Meghan announce a second pregnancy?

And is the RF okay?

spanish he was on the telly earlier this week, but I cannot remember why!

I suppose if you are the bride at an enormous televised wedding people are going to look and comment on everything. I seem to remember Kate's nipples being much discussed (and of course Pippa's bottom).

Yet another reason why I would be a crap royal, far too unsophisticated and don't care about appearance! I mean, I can scrub up but my definition of scrubbing up is a world apart from being scrutinised by the world!

user1477391263 · 17/01/2020 12:23

Autumnrose, she had a few wisps of hair that came loose--she still looked lovely though. She is a very beautiful woman indeed, even if she is a bit impulsive judging from the past few days!

yolofish · 17/01/2020 12:23

thank god for that lord we were worried about you (no, really, well, ok no, actually, aren't you one of the 'little people'?) Grin

Lordfrontpaw · 17/01/2020 12:24

Those of us old enough to remember Dianas dress:

It was 'oh here she comes... what is the dress going to be like?... Will it be fairytale princess?... whaaaaaaaaa - did they forget to iron that monstrosity?'

Butterymuffin · 17/01/2020 12:25

@TheMustressMhor Er, I was the poster who said I didn't like the Elnett comment. I didn't use the term bitchy though I would agree that's what it was. But I didn't say it was racist? Where have you got that from? Please quote where in my post I said that that comment was racist, because I didn't.

Lordfrontpaw · 17/01/2020 12:26

@yolofish - darling I know you were concerned about my over-tight jeans and the prospect of me taking out someone's eye with an exploding button (jeans or belly variety) after lunch but fear not...

yolofish · 17/01/2020 12:29

buttery I think someone else said it was racist, not you but cba to scroll back now...
lord darling - lunch now that's a plan!

yolofish · 17/01/2020 12:30

and yes to Diana's dress, but I think the Emmanuels came up with some tosh about the fabric making it like that, rather than doing a crumple test beforehand.

I thought Megz looked absolutely bloody amazing though, it takes a lot of chutzpah to pull off something that simple. was it Givenchy?

didofido · 17/01/2020 12:31

"Queen practising Nazi salutes as a girl"

If this is intended to imply she had Nazi sympathies it is ridiculous. I'm not as old as the Queen, but even in my day we kids gave Nazi salutes, drew little moustaches on our upper lips. It was mockery of a hated enemy

Lurked through all 7 threads... got to comment re Hairgate. I too looked at Megan’s hair during the wedding and thought it looked like the hairdresser had done a poor job with some of it falling down. Especially as the bride herself tucked it behind her ears, giving me the impression it wasn’t an intended face framing style. I don’t think it’s racist to comment on a crappy hairdresser job, especially as she’s likely to have used a hairdresser that knows how to work with her hair type. She looked lovely that day but the hair IMHO didn’t match the chic, understated elegance of that bloody gorgeous dress... my hairdresser did a similar thing to my wedding hair and perhaps that’s why I noticed it on the day. OR, I’m just an Evil Brit, I’m sure someone will be along to shout at me if so.

Lordfrontpaw · 17/01/2020 12:34

I think most people hair looks dreadful at their wedding. It either doesn't suit the bride or they don't feel comfortable having a formal 'do'.

AutumnRose1 · 17/01/2020 12:35

I think I was very little when Diana got married

But even I noticed the dress needed ironing Wink

AutumnRose1 · 17/01/2020 12:36

“ Especially as the bride herself tucked it behind her ears, giving me the impression it wasn’t an intended face framing style. ”

Perhaps she wanted it that way? I would. Otherwise I’d feel odd.

TheMustressMhor · 17/01/2020 12:38

@Butterymuffin

Sorry - just to clarify - I myself said (this morning) that my comment about MM's wedding hair was possibly bitchy. You certainly didn't say so.

And it was a derailment poster on the last thread who said that my remarks about MM's hair were racist. So again - not you.

I do think that she could have made sure her hair was tucked away properly on her sodding wedding day, though. It just looked untidy to me. And a decent hair stylist would have ensured that that didn't happen.

Can we talk Charles and Di for a second? I have always wondered if that story that she told her family she didn't want to marry him was true but they said to her she had to, because "her name was already on the tea towels."

I wonder if her brother reflected on that much, in later years.

Also, bullshit her family didn't know he was still seeing Camilla. (Or more to the point couldn't have found out, once she expressed concerns.) Her brother in law worked for the Queen, even at the time of her death, granny in with Queen Mum.

Last gasp of the Edwardian era, that. Maybe not the VERY last, from what we're seeing today...

MurrayTheMonk · 17/01/2020 12:41

I'm crying laughing at Spanishlady and her 'Gary oldmans Dracula ' wedding hair... I'm sure you didn't resemble the undead Spanish...

I also hated my wedding hair. I genuinely wouldn't consider going out on a normal day in public with my hair like that so why I did it for my wedding I've no idea.

yolofish · 17/01/2020 12:43

The Camilla thing was known about for years before it all came out. I worked with people who knew people and it was common knowledge but the press wouldnt print it until they had enough of a head of steam and Diana's behaviour became unruly enough...

AutumnRose1 · 17/01/2020 12:46

“ I do think that she could have made sure her hair was tucked away properly on her sodding wedding day, though. It just looked untidy to me.”

Good thing you don’t know me then. That’s as tidy as my hair would ever be and only for the most formal occasion I can imagine. Like if I got an honour 😂 I imagine she didn’t want her hair to have no movement.

I thought that Meghan would help the RF move away from this mentality but clearly not.

Theromanempire · 17/01/2020 12:46

Just checking into the new thread to say I am ok, thanks to those who have asked Wink

AutumnRose1 · 17/01/2020 12:47

As there’s so many royal experts here, did Kate’s hair have no movement at all on her wedding day? I was on a train journey most of the day so only saw the sports car bit.

Chartreuse45 · 17/01/2020 12:49

@yolofish he was on a tv in the background of Piers Morgan's interview. It was slightly odd - it took up nearly the whole upper right corner.

NaturalBornWoman · 17/01/2020 12:52

Can we talk Charles and Di for a second? I have always wondered if that story that she told her family she didn't want to marry him was true but they said to her she had to, because "her name was already on the tea towels."

I think it was, she found an engraved gift to Camilla just before the wedding and realised the situation.

Chartreuse45 · 17/01/2020 12:52

I can't share it, but it was on Sunrise, an Australian daytime chat show. It's available on YouTube.

user1477391263 · 17/01/2020 12:52

I also have hair that does not stay in one place! Some hair is just like that. It slides around and has a life of its own unless you glue it into place with lacquer (which can look quite weird, like you are channeling a synchronized swimmer or something).

ChickenNuggetsChipsAndBeans · 17/01/2020 12:52

Thanks to Pippa's bum, I dont think anyone noticed Kate's hair.

I am OK BTW
