Previous thread

-Today Prince Harry is doing the draw for the Rugby League. (Not sure if it’s a public location but there’s bound to be a lot of press interest)

  • He has said he is going to stay in the UK for a bit longer to thrash out the details of “Megxit”
  • Meghan has been on a second surprise visit in Vancouver
  • Opinion coming out of Canada is that; not only do they not want to fund the Sussexes; having a member of the a Royal Family make Canada their permanent home is not acceptable.

@Mummy195

They are doing what you wanted, now you are angry they are living. What you thought they would put up with this forever?
Most of us didn't want them to leave at all and are shocked by their leaving. I'm not angry they are leaving.

I'm disappointed:

  1. H&M have treated HM Queen with total disrespect by announcing their leaving as a fait accomplis and stating the terms on which their new lives would be lead on a website.
  2. H&M have displayed a lack of dignity by airing it in public. The correct way would have been to quietly work out the details behind the scenes and then for HMQ, PC, PW and PH to announce it together and provide the united front that shows they were all in agreement about the final outcome.
  3. PW just assumed he would be an internationally protected person and that, despite relinquishing the role, we would still pick up their security costs while they live in another country of their choosing.
  4. They want to still be financed by PC but not put in the royal work.
  5. They set up the Sussex Royal website in secret last March which means they hardly gave a chance to living as royals in the UK.
  6. A they planned it so long ago they could have talked through their plans then and by now it all would have been done and dusted.
  7. Their representatives have incorporated Meghan's company, Frim Fram Inc' (the one behind The Tig blog) in Delaware and transferred Frim Fram Inc California to it. Delaware is well known as a state where companies do not need to disclose ownership of a company or companies' financials and has extreme secrecy. The only reason for such set ups is for those companies to fail to disclose assets, income, profit etc. If it isn't disclosed it cannot be taxed. If you live in a country where there is double taxation because of where you derive your income, that country loses that taxation if it doesn't know you've earned money. The citizens of that country lose out.
  8. I'm angry that comments suggest we are a country of racists when it isn't true.

The media is pushing them out. Exposing the UK for the racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, closed minded, stuffy minds that they are. If anyone had suspicions during Brexit, now your media has confirmed it.
Wow. You need anger management.
I don't think the media is pushing H&M out. They were given positive headlines and were very welcoming when they married. In fact the newspapers supported Meghan and slagged off her father and it appears that he was the one who was telling the truth about their contact or lack of it.
I think H&M don't like being called out on their hypocritical behaviours and possibly lack of insight about them. You cannot preach about climate change and jump on private jets. You cannot visit a poor country where people often lack the basic necessities and then do an interview where you thank your journalist friend for asking how you are because not many people have. I don't think H&M should even have journalist friends.

Yes, there have been comments on articles written in newspapers which have apparently been racist (I haven't seen them myself but have seen some referred to on MN) but these aren't the views of the newspapers. I do, however, think that if racist comments on articles have been made, that the newpapers should delete them.

So now Canada will pick up the cup and run with it, showing that they are open minded and inclusive. With a born prince, thank you very much.
Canadian press seem to not want anyone living there who has a title. It seemingly goes against their constitution. Anyway, they only want to go there as a stop gap until they go to live in LA. That statement also shouldn't have been made by them as it is rather insulting to Canadian citizens. See, they have no insight.

The UK media has been trying an angle to make you feel better, implying that the Canada residents don't want to pay for the Sussex security. Most Canadians are not as stingy, mean, and petty as the UK, so they don't mind that much for the 2 cents going to them.
I think you will find it is the Canadian media which has stated this information and our press are just reporting on it. If Canadian citizens are happy to pick up the cost, I think you'll find that UK citizens would welcome that.

She looked to the past and tried to steer away from the same mistakes the took other spouses down. No toe sucking, no cheating (tampon gate), no duchess Doolittle, and you just berated her for it.
Give her a chance. She's only been a member of the RF for just over 18 months and for the last 2 months she's been on holiday. She's managed to create a bigger furore than any of the things you've mentioned.

SingingLily

I am pretty much ok.

Although my suitcase is not.

OVienna · 16/01/2020 14:37

Also, it's incredible that her left-leaning peers/target audience are giving them such an easy ride. Enabling even. As I said on the other thread, I have been staggered by my friends/contacts on this point.

Froq · 16/01/2020 14:37

Wow @SpinneyHill Shock and this is the man she was so desperate to get away from and cut off when he had heart surgery.

And let’s not forget the whole ‘finally having a family to be a part of’ thing when she and H got engaged.

Ruthless.

SingingLily · 16/01/2020 14:38

PP upthread said basically that there is no way back once the British public start taking the mick out of you (one?) So true.

Me, Yolo, and thank you for the woke stardust. It means so much.

Mustress, I'm so relieved that you are OK and also that the suitcase lives to fight another day. Wink

SpanishLady · 16/01/2020 14:38

The stuff about the Uk (all 60 odd million people) being xenophobic etc cannot be stated as very little can be said is true of so many people - yes there are some who are those things but equally some who aren't.

Likewise whilst I personally think Canada was amazing when I visited and likewise had a great experience with the people I met - I don't suppose every single one of them is not stingy, mean etc.

So all this is just silly.

The picking up and stuff of charities - well I get what you are saying and in fact even if completely retiring from royal life/association (through title and funding etc) they don't have to give up any of the good work they have both done - but right now this week yeah I don't know Meghan needs to pop into a refuge etc. I don't necessarily think it's false etc but in the current environment it lends itself to that take and therefore distracting if nothing else from these good causes

I for one am so glad that I'm preparing for royal life Meghan did pinpoint that toe sucking was to be avoided - I may have missed the wisdom of this observation you make and indeed relevance

TheMustressMhor · 16/01/2020 14:39

She's only been a member of the RF for just over 18 months and for the last 2 months she's been on holiday

Which was preceded by several months' maternity leave.

TVdinners · 16/01/2020 14:39

The thing I like most about her pal , Jessica Mulroney , is how modest and unassuming she is. She knows how to be discreet and keep a low profile.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/01/2020 14:39

I always said the way she treated her Father (and her wider family) was disgusting. It really put me off her . I was never convinced that her father went from hero to villian all of a sudden. And I thought PH not meeting him was disgraceful. It reeked of high handed privilege and did make me question his character a bit.

I reckon spat or no spat, her family were never going to be part of her new future and the alleged fallout (not helped by the way they conducted themselves) was a convenient cover. As far as I'm concerned the evidence is in the fact that none of her decent family members were invited and none of her mother's side or mother's friends, not even a plus one.

Preferred no Heads Bridesmaid (of course not. As if!!Grin) to take away any attention from her, and to be walked down the aisle by PC rather than any of her Uncles who were quite decent or anyone else. My alarm bells went off then.

yolofish · 16/01/2020 14:40

so pleased the woke stardust is working for you lily I feel that is my role in life, and will continue to sprinkle it wherever I possibly can (obvs if there is a plane there and a photo opp, a windy rainy day oop north not so much...)

OVienna · 16/01/2020 14:41

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite

Crown Grin Well observed, Ma'am.

SingingLily · 16/01/2020 14:42

Our Lady of Perpetual Upgrades.

TheMustressMhor · 16/01/2020 14:42

I knew it yolofish.

You are only interested in spreading "Woke Stardust" where there is a photo-op for yourself.

Shocking.

yolofish · 16/01/2020 14:43

yeah I missed the memo about toesucking too... what on earth could I have achieved if my financial advisor and I had never done this?

(disclaimer, only toes I have ever sucked were my childrens, and even then only to bite their toenails - safer than cutting I was told! and I dont have a financial advisor, or indeed many finances to be advised on).

SingingLily · 16/01/2020 14:43

No camera, no stardust.

Deal or No Deal.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 16/01/2020 14:44

Hard graft? Tbh they are incredibly well rewarded considering the little they do. It’s just not all that glam like Megan was expecting.
I agree with this generally although I do believe that HMQ, the DOE and Princess Anne have been hard workers who've just got on with it without complaint and I have a great deal of respect for them.

Oldbutstillgotit · 16/01/2020 14:44

Best H and M thread ! I also think she is pregnant. If so we must remember to ask her if she is ok .
I have a sore back if anyone is interested .

yolofish · 16/01/2020 14:45

bugger, outed by mustress. Damn, need to move to nuclear defcon2 now, give me a minute while I work out my latest fly by night strategy ok?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/01/2020 14:46

Thank you @TheMustressMhor, I feel so much better now!

How are you? I hope you're ok forever and ever and ever!

SingingLily · 16/01/2020 14:47

Are you OK, Oldbutstillgotit?

TheMustressMhor · 16/01/2020 14:47

You know - that wedding - she really didn't seem fazed by walking up the aisle (mostly) alone. She was supremely confident.

I always thought the fact that her hair was a real mess was a thumb-up to the Establishment, too.

Surely someone with her wealth could have found a hairdresser who was capable of spraying a bit of Elnett on it?

But maybe I'm just being a biatch.

Oldbutstillgotit · 16/01/2020 14:48

@ SingingLily thank you for asking . I am being stoic ( helped by coffee and cake )

SpanishLady · 16/01/2020 14:49

I can't work out ( yes I know it's because I'm not in the family etc) what went on with the dad.

I am perplexed by the notion that I would marry someone and he never meet my dad before the wedding weekend/week for any mitigating reason, when the wedding was on such a grand scale and being televised oh and he was a prince

But I did send my dad shoes in preparation

GlitchStitch · 16/01/2020 14:49

What I don't get is surely she knew that if she launched a lawsuit that involved her Dad some of this stuff was going to come out, that points to her having been less than truthful? She's reminding me of Roxanne Pallet at this point! And I do think Harry and some of her more vocal supporters who have swallowed her sob story will have egg on their faces.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 16/01/2020 14:50

Which was preceded by several months' maternity leave.
That's true. Let's face it, we won't notice the difference between what she's done and her becoming a part-timer. Anyway, I think there should be a re-allocation of titles - MM should be given the 'Duchess of Doolittle' title. I'm sure Kate won't mind.
