Heartbroken to say that Penelope had another funny turn/ seizure this morning. I thought the last one was a one off as she had made a full recovery very quickly. And I’d not seen any others. I took her to
the emergency vet after and She didn’t respond to midazolam. The vet thought it was likely to be a brain tumour. So did the only thing that could be done. She went very quickly and peacefully on my knee.

For such a tiny cat, with a daft long name, she was so sassy and sweet and affectionate. Just a lovely, lovely cat. Will miss your Pen.

Rest in Peace Penelope.

What a beauty! I’m quite liking the name Brie!

Shedmistress · 19/09/2026 17:45

I like a cats name with an ee sound at the end, all mine get changed to an ee sound at the end eventually.

Brie is a great name.

@JoanOgdenI suspect she’s going to be trouble anyway. When she’s fully settled I suspect her character will blossom.

'Blossom' would be a great name for her, or maybe 'Cherry Blossom'.

@SwanUpmanship nice.

Your potential new girl looks beautiful and always a treat to see handsome Mithril again - I really hope it all works out well for you

Just had a call to say Penelope’s ashes are back at the vet. I’ll be glad to have her home again. 😰

Technically New Girl is blue isn't she? So a blue cheese?

SwanUpmanship · 20/09/2026 12:37

Ahhh. Will you be scattering Penelope's ashes or do you keep them? My sister has her late cats' ashes on her mantelpiece. I've never asked for ashes as I feel a bit strange about them, but my sister finds it really comforting to have them in her house.

InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing · 20/09/2026 14:43

I keep them. I have a small amount in a glass paperweight/ornament and the rest are in a Monty Bojangles cat shaped truffle tin. I always thought I’d scatter them, but I like having them in the house. Not sure how Penelope would have liked Magic and Maia. But they would have never ever jumped on her or tried to play. So probably would have been ok.

Err…

Roquefort (Rocky?)
Cashel
Stilton
Gorgonzola (Gorgon!)

Not promising, not for a girl cat, anyway

I think your cats have mostly been indoor cats, haven't they, so in the house sounds more appropriate.

Edited

There's a list of blue cheeses on Wikipedia.

Vinney
Aura
Zola short for Cambozola (I agree Gorgonzola is a non starter)
Dolly short for Dolcelatte
Saga

Oh, much better!

I quite fancy Dolce
