Heartbroken to say that Penelope had another funny turn/ seizure this morning. I thought the last one was a one off as she had made a full recovery very quickly. And I’d not seen any others. I took her to
the emergency vet after and She didn’t respond to midazolam. The vet thought it was likely to be a brain tumour. So did the only thing that could be done. She went very quickly and peacefully on my knee.

For such a tiny cat, with a daft long name, she was so sassy and sweet and affectionate. Just a lovely, lovely cat. Will miss your Pen.

Rest in Peace Penelope.

I would have kept her, but I already had my heart set on Suzi and she’s only 3. Toffee is 11. But healthy. They don’t know what Toffee is like with other cats. And Suzi hasn’t liked the other cats she’s been in contact with. But no would I if I had untreated ring work and lived in a body suit for two years! I would be open to having both but don’t want to have to rehome if it didn’t work out.

I’d keep Toffee as it’s so hard for older cats to get a good owner. She is healthy so you could have years with her. There is no guarantee that a younger cat lives longer as you’ve unfortunately seen. #TeamToffee

So will you be fostering Toffee until Suzi is fully recovered? Given your experience with Penelope and Paddington you're bound to be chary and I think the universe is trying to send you a young healthy girl. I've just told my DH about your previous beautiful ones and we both send you our love, being fellow catophiles. xxx

I’ll foster Toffee until she has a home. She has some interest. So
hop won’t be long. I’m on holiday next month so ideally needs to be adopted by then. Although the cattery will take her on Pens booking.

Omg the rescue have posted a video of potential new inmate after having a shampoo treatment. She sounds exactly like Penelope did when I was putting her into her basket. Although maybe not quite so furious!

I hope the rescue will be helping with Toffee's cattery fees.

She's amazing! A proper little lioness.

@SwanUpmanshipthey did say they would pay for the cattery. I’m hoping that she’ll have a home by then.

I’m so sorry about Penelope @InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing , I’ve only just seen this thread 💐.

InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing · 15/09/2026 18:45

Remembered to retrieve the fluff from Penelope’s last groom from
the recycling bin, before putting it out for collection tomorrow. The vet didn’t give me a fur clipping. Phew.

Toffee is gorgeous.

InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing · 15/09/2026 22:27

They may have a home for Toffee. So she may not need to come to me. Everyone keep your paws crossed. Not ready to empty Penelope’s water bowl yet.

So sorry to read that your beloved Penelope has died. How heartbreaking. I’m so sorry for your loss. I too enjoyed your posts and photos of her and she will be sadly missed.
❤️💐 😿

SwanUpmanship · 16/09/2026 08:29

Everything crossed for lovely Toffee finding her forever home!

InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing · 16/09/2026 17:48

Yep, I’m going to meet the potential new inmate on Friday. She’s not ready to come home for a couple of months so that’s fine.

I’m on nights tonight and hoping I will be busy at 5am as that’s the time last week, when she woke me up having her first seizure.

Aww, I hope you have a busy but not traumatic shift.

JaceLancs · 16/09/2026 23:41

What an adorable face! So sorry for your loss xx

AlwaysRightISwear · 17/09/2026 07:32

Also hope last night's shift went OK.

Threetoedsloth · 17/09/2026 16:59

Oh great news about Toffee. x

Looking forward to visiting new potential ruler tomorrow. But still can’t believe it’s happening. The rescue posted a video of her after having a shampoo treatment for ringworm. And she sounds exactly like Penelope when she was cross.

Is she an Exotic?

InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing · 17/09/2026 18:55

@SwanUpmanship no she’s a long hair, which is a shame but she looks adorable. I’ve had long haired before. But they had easy to manage coats. Hers looks very cottony and could be tricky!

Hopefully she has been trained to tolerate being groomed! It is relaxing to sit combing a cat on your knee - but I say that as someone who's only ever had short-haired cats 😆
