She's done a wee in her litter tray so was happy to come out for that but sadly has done a liquid poo in her hiding place down the side of my bed! I need to clean it up but she's hiding in the corner right behind it and I don't want to scare her. Poor baby.

stormsandsunshine · 12/10/2026 16:23

@RumNotRun what a beautiful cat! A lovely face as well as gorgeous colouring.

But pity about the liquid poo!

stormsandsunshine · 12/10/2026 16:29

@Breadcat24 I don't think Snowcat does much more exercise than Micia does and she is only 2. In the summer she likes to wander round the garden, but that mainly involves sitting in the flower bed rather than strenuous activity. She spends a lot of time sleeping on DD's sofa or sleeping on our bed or watching the garden from the cat tree, and her main activity is moving between these resting places, except that she gets everyone up in the morning and puts us all to bed at night, which involves escorting people up and down the stairs.

She does have Stripey to keep her active and they do play together and chase each other around (because Stripey still has kitten zoomies and likes to ambush her sister), but I think Snowcat only puts up with this because they are littermates. She often gives Stripey a 'seriously' look when she jumps on her and disturbs her nice nap.

EmpressaurusKitty · 12/10/2026 16:42

Has Snowcat stopped coming to chat to you in the middle of the night, @stormsandsunshine ?

stormsandsunshine · 12/10/2026 17:00

She does it from time to time @EmpressaurusKitty but it goes in phases and she hasn't been too annoying recently. (Shouldn't say that as she'll start again!) I've found that calling out to her sometimes stops her miaowing, but I can't really do that if DH is asleep. It's also better if DD's door is open as sometimes DH forgets and closes it, and she doesn't like being denied her favourite sofa.

She is the chattiest cat I've had. She miaows if she comes into a room until she's satisfied you've noticed her enough. She miaows if you come into a room where she's resting to show that she's pleased to have a visitor. She miaows when she comes to get you up in the morning. She miaows to summon Stripey if she isn't sure where she is.

EmpressaurusKitty · 12/10/2026 17:46

That’s lovely. I can see it could be annoying at times but still adorable.

RumNotRun · 12/10/2026 19:46

Well today Boudi's spicy side has come out. She was out and exploring at 4am chatting away to herself and climbing the metal grills I have on the window to stop the cats getting out.
When I eventually got up, she was back in her hiding place so I tried to stroke her. She bit me and drew blood! This evening, I tried gently talking to her and putting my hand near here so she could sniff it or ignore it. She chose the third option: violence, and lashed out with her paw. No blood this time but jeez she's quick!

I've left her upstairs with food, water, and her litter tray and will keep going up and talking to her, but will be keeping my hands to myself.

EmpressaurusKitty · 12/10/2026 19:52

She’s sounding like a Boudicca!

Allergictoironing · 12/10/2026 20:12

Ah, memories of Tobias's first couple of years - approach him with a hand and you'd have to be prepared to mop up blood! He'll still do it now if he isn't in the mood for a stroke.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 12/10/2026 20:34

Hmm. I've now discovered a small healing wound on the back of Linney's neck, so I think I've found the cat who had a fight with Gizmo.
🤣

Oh Linney!

@Allergictoironing I am not a patient person but I keep telling myself that my two most loving cats were the most standoffish ones and took a good few months to like me. I just need to learn patience and not try to get her to be friends too soon.

And Gizmo's wound is much bigger........
The thing is, Linney is MUCH faster than Gizmo, so he could have swiped him and just run off. Or on to something. Gizmo can't jump up easily the way Linney can.

Mind you, it's always Gizmo who starts their arguments.

Is Gizmo vertically challenged? I would have thought he was a champion jumper, but maybe I'm thinking of his younger Thugcat days.

Edith has been quite kittenish this evening, playing with her toy mouse and pouncing on blankets. Then she heard some cats fighting outdoors and she immediately ran outside and leapt onto the shed roof to get a good view. If there had been popcorn, she would have had some. (Especially since Edie never really says no to food.)

Nico got scared by a ginormous fluffy bully cat and is doing his best poor little scared kitten impression. He's actually getting big and quite athletic, but he still seems to think that he's a tiny defenceless baby.

I'm going to end up with two huge, greedy guzzler cats, I can just tell.

He's (ahem) not exactly slim......

Nor is Edie, but she's an excellent jumper. She has the build of an Amazonian woman who would throw something in the Olympics. A javelin, probably.

The vet called her a "big hefty girl".

I love those leopardish spots.

Madam came out at 1am to explore. This included climbing the window frame again, sitting on top and meowing, jumping down, running across the bed, back to the window, and repeat. She would pause in each place for some food, a wash, to use the litter tray, or just to shout. It's lovely that she feels confident to explore but if somebody could just explain to her about time that would be fab.

Good progress! @RumNotRun

Maybe she'll adopt the other cats' timetable when she's fully integrated?

...But as they're (ahem!) cats I expect they each march to the beat of their own drum 😹

Pudmyboy · 13/10/2026 10:41

How is your hand Rum ? I had heard cat bites often need antibiotics, so I got a bit worried on your behalf 🩹

Pudmyboy · 13/10/2026 10:44

Broon I thought Gizmo and Linney were quite tolerant of each other? I seem to remember a photo of them sniffing noses, captioned 'it's lurve'...
Maybe Gizmo made a crude remark about Sybil and Linney defended her honour?

Maybe Linney was bragging about being a better jumper than Gizmo.

Thanks @Pudmyboy She only seemed to get me with one gang so it's just a little cut, I think it was more of a warning nip than a full on savage thankfully. I'm keeping my hands away from her for now though!

Breadcat24 · 13/10/2026 12:04

@RumNotRun good progress
@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne not so much!

ShoutyCatSlave · 13/10/2026 12:39

Hello all! Lovely to read / see the photos of new excellent cats. And the bau-ness of Gizmo... 😀. Agatha doesn't so much move to the beat of her own drum, as snooze in every patch of sunshine.

Hmmmm. I have a new phone, but still can't upload photos. I need to check my settings again!

But she is so cute! That little face. I'm sure she didn't mean to wake you up... Or fang attack you... Or poo behind the sofa. Not really.
