I think the tribe have sensed there's change coming.

That, or the fact the weather (at least where I am in the South East) has changed and a) it's at least 5 C colder than yesterday and b) we're due vast amounts of rain coming in this afternoon.

RumNotRun · 06/10/2026 23:07

I think the tribe have sensed there's change coming. Tonight I had Lex and Toad curled up together on my pouffe, Fred curled up next to me purring, and then Raven ran in and jumped onto my lap demanding scritches and ear rubs.

No news on when Boudicca is joining us. She was neutered yesterday and had to have a tooth out, poor thing. I have messaged the woman currently fostering her but haven't heard back. I know she's probably busy with cats and life so hopefully I'll hear something tomorrow.

I have a mental image of your cats quietly all miaowing the song 'There may be trouble ahead' in barbershop style 😆

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 07/10/2026 07:38

We're away in Germany at the moment - spotted our first NMGC yesterday but sadly he was camera shy.
Will keep trying - I know I can't let @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne down. 😂

Allergictoironing · 07/10/2026 08:09

Now now Grumpy - you can't start shipping cats to Scotland from Germany as well!

Kirova · 07/10/2026 10:44

I love that the cat is going to be called Boudicca. I would have actually named Edie Boudicca if I'd had a choice over the name, but she was already Edith when she came to me and it stuck.

She has Boudicca vibes though.

Pixiedust1234 · 07/10/2026 11:14

I had a cat named Boudicca (not named by us) but it got downgraded to Bo Bo. Her sister was Elsa and she certainly lived up to her name. Bo, not so much 😅

RumNotRun · 07/10/2026 20:27

She's hopefully coming on Sunday!! Boudicca is back at the vet tomorrow to check how she's healed and, providing everything is ok, she'll be dropped off at some point on Sunday. Apparently she's got quite energetic and spicy (her foster's words) since being free from the kittens and getting to eat more 😁

CatsonPollock · 07/10/2026 22:31

Great news @RumNotRun - hope the settling in period goes smoothly and quickly!

How is Tobias doing now @Allergictoironing ?

Allergictoironing · 07/10/2026 22:41

Tobias is almost back to normal - well, as normal as Tobias ever is! He forgets sometimes he's hurt that leg & jumps down a bit hard then limps a couple of steps, but that's about it.

He was having an enjoyable half hour of zooming up & down the stairs trying to get Girlcat to chase him this evening - not bad for a cat with a jarred shoulder, FIV and severe IBD!

JaceLancs · 08/10/2026 22:52

Fergus is enjoying sussing out the best sleep spots

Looks like Girlcat has eaten something overnight. She had been drooling when I first saw her this morning - I'm talking long streams coming from her mouth.

I've wiped her mouth clean (and a few damp areas like her chest) and firmly stroked all round her mouth, throat and general neck areas and she was absolutely fine with that. She was waiting for me to put their wet food breakfast down & dived straight in, so I'm assuming I'll have to look for a massive vomit area somewhere in the back of my fitted wardrobe, which is where she was snoozing when I woke up this morning 😬

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 09/10/2026 11:12

Gizmo must have had a fight with Linney, Picard or Suzy.

DD2 and I discovered a wound on the back of his neck yesterday. It's healing very well so he doesn't need to go to the vet's thank heavens but I'd love to know how he sustained it in the first place.

Poor Gizmo! He's such a sweet boy, it's very unfair of the other cats to bully such a shy little cat.

Kirova · 09/10/2026 13:22

Maybe they all ganged up on him.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/10/2026 13:38

Should I send GT over the border to act as his bodyguard?

In the words of seasoned MNetters:

"No" is a complete sentence.

I'm sure he was defending your home and the other cats from some intruder who came onto their patch.

Or possibly tried to squeeze under something with a sharp edge!

EmpressaurusKitty · 10/10/2026 15:26

You know it’s autumn when Kitty disappears under the covers.

Breadcat24 · 10/10/2026 15:38

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I would be looking for sharp edges in the bathroom as he is obsessed
@EmpressaurusKitty what a cute bump

I am worried Micia is bored -she is spending a lot of time during the day just lying on a bed. She used to be much happier when she went outside before the tuxedo twin thugs spooked her. She does still go out to the toilet but prefers to do so with me present and it is getting colder
I have ordered more toys
I think she needs a fellow cat - husband says we will have one cat bullying the other
in the meantime remote controlled mice toys

Have you got many cat trees & so on, @Breadcat24? When Kitty gets the zoomies she can run around & leap up & down to different levels, & I rearrange them every so often.

EmpressaurusKitty · 10/10/2026 19:24

Action shots. As far as Kitty’s concerned blankets are for wrestling with as well as lying on.

@Breadcat24 in my non expert opinion, once they're past kitten stage a second (or 3rd 4th etc) cat makes no difference. Toad and Fred very occasionally play with the same toy but it's not playing together, just that both want to attack the same thing. It was the same when Ghostie was still here. My cats have a ridiculous amount of toys, rotated so they don't get bored, but they do spend a lot of time just chilling and watching the world go by.

Breadcat24 · 10/10/2026 23:14

@EmpressaurusKitty She has 3 levels of house- bay windows with windowsills and 2 with window seats, a huge 6 foot cat tree, catnip banana (thank you for that) cat nip fish, mice, power balls and feathery things on fishing rods.
She has 2 chipped cat flaps - one leading to a balcony which she can sit on with a ladder down to the back garden.
She does not like snaky toys or tunnels
She was basically nocturnal according to the rescue but this is her current day-
Asks for first breakfast around 6 by meowing or scratching carpet
Gets second breakfast around 9 with a treat followed by going into garden through open back door as I do recycling (will sit with me in garden if not raining)
Sits on bed
Brushed
Sleep on bed (getting bothered by me stroking her)
Might ask for lunch round 1pm
Sleep on bed (getting bothered by me stroking her)
Comes down for dinner about 7pm
Eats then sometimes plays with fishing rod toys, chases chucked catnip mice, maybe balls
If not in the mood to play sits on top of cat tree and stares at us
Goes out to pee
And I think goes in garden at night.
She is only 1/2 years old am I wrong to be worried this is a bit sedentary?

She did more when she went out before being spooked by fox and other cats

Bought more toys today

Kirova · 10/10/2026 23:53

Maybe she's settling herself down for the colder weather. I think we should all write down our cats' daily schedules à la Micia's.

Nico's would go play - play - play - eat - kill a few spiders - harass other cats - more play - ecstatic purring and kneading - sleep - more play - eat - more play - ecstatic purring and kneading - sleep.

I think he might be the opposite of Micia, i.e. too active!
