Yeah, right.

Linney is more suitable.

At least he's actually a Scottish cat.

Gizmo is an English interloper, who only came to Scotland in order to get behind my bathroom cupboard.

Finlay is coming home much earlier since it turned a bit colder here - although tonight he was on high alert in case he was missing out!

It looks like Finlay has two trackers on his collar: how is with the bulkiness? He always looks happy so I take it he doesn't mind?

Herbie hasn't gone AWOL again, I'm pleased to say. He has a collar with a little note saying 'don't feed me'!
I ended up joining Facebook just so I could post on the local page about him going missing all day.
So I have gone down the rabbit hole a bit... I have loads of videos of cats with babies on my feed ! (AI generated I assume!)

Another pre-Pud feline visitor to my garden was a beautiful black cat, quite affectionate but muscular (the sort that when they lean against your calf can knock your knee forward). He had a tag on his collar which I used to try to read, to learn his name, but he was so strong I couldn't hold him still to read it (he didn't even struggle, just carried on weaving around my legs and knocking me over). The most I saw was 'Don...' before he pulled away.
Eventually caught him napping on my bench and saw the tag: it was 'Do not feed'. I used to call him Donut.
No I didn't feed him though I suspect he could have opened a tin with his claws, the big bruiser.

There's a cat on my bed, unwilling to let me get in myself.

If it was any other cat, I would not be concerned.
Please let us know if (a) you survived (b) got some sleep.

Thank you for your compliment on my wordiness, Broon!

Bit early for fireworks, isn't it?

Kettle waves hello and hopes they've stopped anyway.

He's not sure about vanilla and strawberry treats but he does love yoghurt of any flavour (not that he's ever been given any, the terrible thief!) so maybe he would like them. Only boring old salmon and chicken flavours available in our local pet shop, though.

Hello Kettle!

The fireworks start around now for Diwali & carry on up to after Bonfire Night. You’d think nowadays they could all just buy the quiet ones, but apparently not.

JaceLancs · 19/10/2025 07:28

@Pudmyboy
Yes Finn is double tagged - although the air tag isn’t that accurate it helps on occasions like yesterday when he decided to go out whilst I was charging the Tractive one! He didn’t come home for hours so at least I knew roughly where he was
He’s generally a happy kitty and doesn’t seem to mind the collar bulkiness - they are quite lightweight which helps

If he minded then he’d probably work out how to slip his collar?

Oh I forgot about Diwali. I'm from a little village and it wasn't very multicultural so Guy Fawkes Night and NYE was it for fireworks, but of course you're in London.

Where I live now fireworks are illegal except between NYE and Twelfth Night but people really make the most of that window!

I’d really like to see fireworks limited to licensed displays only.

Kitty may not be bothered, being a London sophisticat who’s probably seen it all by now, but my sister’s dog used to be terrified.

Picard decided to pop in this morning.
I found him sitting on my laundry basket, under my favourite picture of McVicar (who liked to knock everything off the bedside table by jumping on it just as I was falling asleep. Every. Night)

Fireworks have started here in north Kent, I'm assuming for Diwali as my town is known as the most multicultural one in the south eastern counties. Will be every weekend until after the New Year now, good thing neither of mine care in fact Girlcat sometimes sits in the window to watch them. But they are so LOUD - I'm sure they didn't used to be that bad in my youth.

Yesterday evening I built a (smallish - small foot print about 4 feet tall) cat tree I'd bought for the cat's bedroom months ago & never got round to building! Built it solo, not an easy task with my back but I got a sudden urge to do it. Trouble is, I now have to clear the space it's going in. Has to be there, it's one of Tobias's favorite perches/sleeping spots and the boxes currently there are falling apart & dangerous for him but I need to sort & move the contents before the top gives way & he falls in. But after a night's sleep the mad flash of energy has departed for places unknown.

The things we do for our cats!

My Agent Of The Patriarchy is upset because Cat One has bitten him on the leg. Mr. AOTP pov is he was lying on his side in bed when Cat One suddenly bit him and casually walked over to curl up next to me. #bastardcat
What has actually happened:
Mr. AOTP has woken up/been unable to get to sleep. Instead of quietly getting up and sneaking downstairs as any reasonable human being would do, Mr.AOTP needs to thrash around and huff and puff so I wake up too. Cat One, disturbed by the trumpet parade, has reacted by biting. It’s a rare case of good work by the #bastardcat.
Mr.AOTP is asleep now and I am thoroughly awake. Good job I have the litter tray. Terrible name, great place.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 19/10/2025 16:46

Even when messing about with table legs, Gizmo manages to expose his bits.

Have you seen this thread @learieonthewildmoor ? If Cat One broke the skin he might want to get it looked at. www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5429596-to-call-nhs-24-over-a-minor-cat-bite?page=1

These are photos of what Kitty was doing before I went to the gym & when I got back 2 hours later.

Given how grey it is outside, I decided she had a point, grabbed my book & joined her.

She was probably doing cardio the whole time, you just missed it.

ShoutyCatSlave · 19/10/2025 17:13

Agatha has been uncharacteristically cuddly today. The cynic in me wonders if this related to her also being rather soggy and wanting something/one warm to dry herself on..... 🤔

It’s entirely possible that Cat One scratched rather than bit Mr. Agent Of The Patriarchy. Since he was a kitten, Cat One jumps out and grabs your leg with his claws and jaws, just as if he was playing with another cat. He doesn’t sink his teeth in, just holds you: but it’s startling when it happens. The claws usually cause the damage.
Hopefully I won’t have to drag Mr. AOTP to the emergency department. It’s as big a drama as getting one of the cats to the vet.

At least you (presumably) don’t have to get him into a carrier.

Hide and seek champ (OK not as good as Kitty but it took me ages to find him).

He’s getting better at camouflage! Do leaves turn to autumn colours where you are?

For about two weeks, then comes a strong wind and blows them all off and it's time for winter again. Supposed to start snowing soon.

I was on the look out but I think we missed the autumnal photo opp this year!

I bought a Halloween soft toy from Aldi on the weekend, no particular reason other than it was cute. Frank, despite never being bothered by anything like this before, has now claimed it as his own. He also appears to have lost his arms and legs.
