......... as Gizmo and Linney almost reach their first anniversary, they reflect on the joys of living in the same hoose.

@Esgaroth That's great to hear your strategy worked. I think it may take a while for us as Mr T only lives a few doors down and has had his whole life assuming that our garden is fair game for him to conquer, so it's understandable he's peeved at interlopers. However, he is quite nervy around us so I'm hoping we can make him wary of the garden. Our cats won't be going out at night for foreseeable (which is when he's most often around) and I'm planning to supervise garden time as much as possible in the short term, so I can shoo him away if he makes an appearance.

There is a foxhole under our fence to the neighbours' garden which Snowcat has noticed and gone in and out a couple of times now, so she'll just have to take her chances if she goes in there (Mr T doesn't live in that house, but apparently hangs out there a lot). DD wanted to block it up, but when we have tried before the fox just digs it straight back again, and I reckon it's safer for her to have a hole she knows she can get through than have to jump over a fence which is quite high for her at the moment, and possibly get stuck on the wrong side.

The good thing is she is still keen to go outside.

Karl is missing.
We had a very early start yesterday (05.00)
He wasn't back last night and still isn't this morning. This is not typical behaviour.
Have asked on the street chat for people to check sheds and garages.
Hoping that he'll see the message on MN, since he certainly isn't returning when called

Oh no @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats - I hope he’s back soon.

Esgaroth · 19/05/2025 10:14

Oh no 😟

I hope he's just out having fun somewhere and will waltz in soon.

@ Karl Time to go home!

KeziaOAP · 19/05/2025 10:53

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats Do hope Karl returns soon.

CatsonPollock · 19/05/2025 11:01

Come on, Karl! Away home with you. 🖤

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 19/05/2025 11:22

Good news.
He's locked in next door's garage - should be freed shortly.

And he's back. He scratched Mrs G while being extricated, came in, ate a mound of food and has now pissed off outside again under strict instructions not to go in anyone else's garage.
Bloody cats 😹 😻

CatsonPollock · 19/05/2025 11:42

Thank 'eff' for that!
(Let that be a lesson to you, young Karl me lad!)

Esgaroth · 19/05/2025 11:51

Silly cat! Glad he's back safe and sound.

KeziaOAP · 19/05/2025 12:42

So glad Karl is back, probably slept all night with no distractions 🐯

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 19/05/2025 12:45

Thanks all.
I'd love to say that he looks contrite, but my mum taught me that lying was a sin 🤣.

Glad Karl is OK. I usually find that when Benny disappears (almost daily), the moment I think about posting on here about it, he saunters in.

That was my plan 😁

Pudmyboy · 19/05/2025 15:48

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats So glad Karl is okay and reacting in typical cat fashion regarding the upset he caused, by being a bit hostile, then indifferent and rounding it all off by being demanding 😻

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 19/05/2025 15:52

Thanks all for the shared concern about Karl. Appreciated 😁.

Naughty Karl.
Glad to hear he's back though! @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

coastergirl · 19/05/2025 16:51

At least we have a strategy for getting them home!

Esgaroth · 19/05/2025 19:02

True.
Right. Let's test it out.

We've been in Glasgow all day and have returned to find that The Broon One is absent from his desk.

I wonder how long he'll stay away, now that I've posted this..........

The White One, of course, was sitting on the front step and complaining that we'd abandoned him and left our neighbour in charge of the pouches today.

Nonetheless he seems to have eaten them.
I am entering three empty bowls into evidence, M'Lud.

Right, he returned home fifteen minutes after I posted that he was on the missing list.
🤣
I've only just had a chance to update the thread.
