......... as Gizmo and Linney almost reach their first anniversary, they reflect on the joys of living in the same hoose.

I’m listening to an audio book at the moment where the main character encounters someone’s pet cat & after a few minutes the cat rolls over asking for a belly rub, which he duly gives.

And it’s not a trap.

The older I get the more annoyed I am that so much of fiction is completely unrealistic.😂 Even with Boris, the worlds most obliging cat, I would recommend visitors ignore any belly rub situations, not that he would generally ask for one from strangers.

I'm reposting this picture of Pud's cat smile with the hope it can be in the calendar:

Our plants look really rubbish in that photo. A month back, there were actually flowers in most of the pots!

RumNotRun · 17/06/2025 22:50

@EmpressaurusKittyand @HumanToCatBeasties that reminds me of watching the trilogy of "A Quiet Place" films. Obviously they're fictional, with the horror alien characters, but the last film was ridiculously unbelievable. The cat was transported at times in a satchel, even when they had to swim underwater, and at the end someone jump into the sea with the cat. At no point was anyone cut to shreds by the cat freaking out at the water, the cat just placidly went along with everything. Clearly the writer/s had never met a real life cat!

RumNotRun · 17/06/2025 22:55

My Vixen is so cute when she sleeps, holding on to her silly tail so it doesn't escape.

Deer come and eat ours overnight.

I haven't got that excuse!
I'd love to see deer though. I'd forgive them eating my plants.

Absolutely nuts.

I was at a village fair recently & there was someone with a very chilled cat in a backpack who then came out to sniff round a bit on a collar & lead, & sat on her owner’s shoulder for a while. That was pretty amazing.

Pianoaholic · 18/06/2025 07:12

Recently in London there was someone with a cat on the tube!
I felt sorry for it though, tube was packed, and I felt stressed, so it wasn't a great place for a cat.

Frankfurter is sitting on the corner of the bath, behind the shower screen. He looks like he's in prison. I did check the bath for wee cause when Ali used to get UTIs, he'd sometimes wee in the bath, but thankfully no wee, it just looks like Frank has decided to put himself in cat jail.

I read a book once with a Labrador in it and at one point he felt a bit sad and didn't eat his dinner. Having known many Labradors over the years, I would be straight to the vet if one didn't eat its dinner. I think they'd have to be practically dying.

EmpressaurusKitty · 18/06/2025 14:06

This cat saved the day in the end, because he allowed the hero to pick him up for a cuddle & the scent of gas on his fur led the hero to find & save a woman lying unconscious with her head in a gas oven, set up by the murderer as a fake suicide.

Hopefully the cat got a decent reward.

My sister’s Italian spinone sometimes tries not eating his dinner in the hope that she might try to tempt him by adding cheese, ham or sausages.

Haha how fortuitous.

My favourite feline literary hero will always be Mog (who is very true to life and Judith Kerr clearly knew cats).

I’d forgotten about Mog!

Kitty came in for a bit & then went back out to watch the bee buzzing round the catnip.

They seemed perfectly unbothered by each other.
