......... as Gizmo and Linney almost reach their first anniversary, they reflect on the joys of living in the same hoose.

Kitty's such a pretty cat and it's lovely to see the life she's having with you. Here's to the best year of her life so far and many more to come!

EmpressaurusKitty · 28/05/2025 08:37

Maybe he’s still generally wary after the Pale One?

Probably. But I don't think he does like other cats very much. He's very people orientated and I think it suits him very nicely to be the beloved only cat!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 28/05/2025 12:41

Most impressed by Kitty, & Happy Anniversary @EmpressaurusKitty

Karl is exhibiting typical black cat behaviour today.

That sounds just like Kitty!

@coastergirl we have 3 Lego sets on the go at the moment DS and I are on 3 in 1 panda set, DP and I started the Parisian restaurant then when we were away for the BH weekend ending up buying jaws set - wish we’d read the reviews the hull was a nightmare and nearly ended up being thrown out of hotel window!
Hoping to have new shelves up soon so will rearrange into collections and post a few pics on Lego thread 😊

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 28/05/2025 15:49

@JaceLancs have you constructed a Lego model of Finlay yet?

EmpressaurusKitty · 28/05/2025 16:18

What a great idea. Someone should start an Excellent Cats Lego line.

Kitty says thank you to everyone for the good wishes.

Kitty was very lucky to end up with you @EmpressaurusKitty .
Re lego, I have just made a plum blossom lego kit! I may post a picture, it's very pretty.
Elsa is lovely @RumNotRun .
In Herbie news....not much going on, except that he didn't get breakfast until 9.30 today as we overslept! He didn't even come and wake us up to tell us. He may be wanting some new slaves soon if we're not careful.

EmpressaurusKitty · 28/05/2025 17:55

How patient of Herbie!

Is there any chance he picked up breakfast elsewhere?

Pianoaholic · 28/05/2025 18:03

No evidence of that!
He was out at midnight, and then when I woke at 3.30 am (!), I was concerned that he wasn't in then either.
So it could be that he also needed a lie in!

Esgaroth · 28/05/2025 18:34

He's probably going to leave you a scathing review on TripAdvisor, @Pianoaholic.

Today I am baffled because someone has come into our garden and mowed the lawn without our knowledge. I assume someone else ordered this service and they came to the wrong place but I'm wondering if we're going to get a bill at some point that we will need to argue about Confused

Annoyingly they've also mowed our turf-roofed shed, which we leave 'wild' and was just getting nice and long. Kettle doesn't seem to mind.

My next door neighbours mow my front garden on their side of the central steps. But I think that's because it makes theirs look messy - they wouldn't be doing it for my benefit, they loathe me 😁

JaceLancs · 28/05/2025 21:20

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne and @EmpressaurusKitty - no big Lego Finlay yet and am not fancying tuxedo cat as my Lego themes are buildings, gardens, botanicals or Chinese, DP likes space, technics and marine themes, DS mainly games console related but quite eclectic tastes otherwise
I invested in large quantities of Lego grey cats (see pics) so we have a Finlay in all our houses, shops, gardens and some ships!

I’ve not played with Lego for years but it’s starting to look tempting - maybe once I’ve got my current crochet projects over with!

Love the Finlays.

Pianoaholic · 28/05/2025 21:55

Here is my plum blossom lego!

I really want the panda set! And the bamboo to put next to it. I have a display area of Botanicals sets plus the tuxedo cat there. I must admit, I was looking at it earlier and wondering what it would cost to order all the pieces in orange so I could make Benny! The cat was one of my favourite builds. I'm midway through sorting an order from the Lego store. A couple of bits for my soon too be 6yo for his birthday, and something for me. Can't decide what! The thing I really want is very much out of budget 😔

coastergirl · 28/05/2025 23:48

Some of my lego (sorry off topic except the cat)

The Lego pics are amazing, @Pianoaholic & @coastergirl.

Allergictoironing · 29/05/2025 07:08

Um. Am I the only one who remembers Lego as being nearly all just standard shaped bricks (2,4,6 or 8 knobs) with a few accessories like roof tiles, corners, windows, the odd curve etc? Came in boxes with suggested things you could make with the contents but we were mostly left to create on our own with a big box full of bits & pieces.

I don't recall when it was that I suddenly realised that Lego had become a sort of solid 3D version of a jigsaw with the exact correct pieces which had been designed & moulded specifically for the pattern they gave you to follow.

No, I remember that too.

Me too. ('cos I'm an old git 🤣)
To be fair you can still buy the boxes of ordinary bricks - but I suspect there is much more money to be made by Lego by selling fancy sets (of which the Grumpy household has a few).

Pianoaholic · 29/05/2025 07:35

Yes, that was the type of lego from my childhood!
My DS was always really into it, and very good at creating his own things, once he'd made the actual kit.
I enjoyed making the blossom set (with help from DH), but it's very fiddly, and my eyesight isn't what it was.
I tried to get Herbs to pose with it, to stay relevant to this thread but he wasn't interested!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 29/05/2025 07:41

One of the few sets we have that is still in one piece.

@Allergictoironing I too remember the old school Lego: although I'm too young for when that was new, things about it were:

  • Model numbers in three figures: now they're in five figures.
  • Only a few colours: even green was exotic, and only seen on the baseplate.
  • With cars, you couldn't put a person inside them.

My favourite model is a theatre, which has amazing detail, including a backstage toilet. Toilets didn't appear in Lego until quite recently. As a child, I had the 12V train sets, with a transformer, and working signals and points. Now incredibly rare and "vintage".
