......... as Gizmo and Linney almost reach their first anniversary, they reflect on the joys of living in the same hoose.

Not even close!

Kettle also enjoyed window cleaning day. I am not industrious enough to clean windows more than once a year so I'm sure he'll find it equally interesting next year.

Ha!
I recommend getting old and moving into sheltered housing.

You get a free window cleaner organised for you, once a month.

I don't think they do that here. It would be a Sisyphean task as we are less than 500m from the sea on two sides (peninsula) and any time it is windy and wet (i.e. most of the winter) you get a layer of salt scum on the windows.

I do them once in the spring and they stay reasonably OK until the first autumn storm, when they become instantly horrible until next spring.

All these joys and we can't even see the sea except a tiny tiny bit through one of the upstairs windows 😄

Gizmo sits on his usual spot on the carpet, whence he generally receives Dreamies.

He's just had his supper and is licking his lips.

Happier than he was last night, then? Did he have a better day today?

Someone had breakfast at 7am and is now enjoying a post-breakfast warm-up. Which means I'm trapped. I can't possibly get up now, probably for hours🙀

Herbie is on late breakfasts as it's half term and no one can be bothered to get up early!
He's resigned to it.

Breadcat asks which breakfast are we talking about here- 1st or 2nd breakfast?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 27/05/2025 12:43

Don't talk to me about cats and breakfast.

Pa Broon and I suffered a concerted attack this morning, at 6.15 am.

Linney stood at the bedroom door, miaowing loudly and repeatedly, while Action Man Gizmo jumped on top of me, in case I hadn't heard Linney's pleas.

Bastards.

Rain has reminded Finlay where he lives rather than just uses as a feeding station! Last night he even joined us on his slipper

DS came home with our little erstwhile friend, a small black and white cat who used to visit us before we got Kettle. She often used to follow DS home because he would play with her.

The cats hissed at each other when DS opened the door so I quickly shut it with Kettle inside and her outside. Probably would have been fine but I am paranoid about cat fights now, and as he's about twice her size don't want to be responsible for her getting a pasting!

We miss her, though - it would be nice if Kettle was a bit more cat friendly

Pianoaholic · 27/05/2025 16:33

Silly Herbie has just been skidding around on the wet conservatory roof.
He often goes up there but when it's dry!
He looked as if he was going to slide off at one point.
He's come in soaking wet after his adventure.

I'm back from the New Forest where I saw some gorgeous little foals and have lots of cuddles from my buddy Elsa who is gorgeous. The cats have so far shouted at me to feed them, despite already having food on their plates. Toad tried to wee inside my suitcase, and I have had Raven sitting on my lap.

Okay, is this a trap, or does Gizmo want me to tickle his tummy?

Talking of traps always makes me think of the talking Captain Scarlet the children used to have.

He could say four phrases, including

"It's a trap! He's a Mysteron replacement!"

That was on the first day! She was proudly showing me her crocodile that I bought her over a year ago 😁 Today, before I left, she wouldn't leave my side. It was as if she knew I was going. I made sure I snuck her some extra treats as a goodbye present though.

EmpressaurusKitty · 28/05/2025 08:16

It’s a year ago today that I met Kitty Bella Caramella, Empress of the Seven Oceans. Although she was just Kitty at the time. This is the first photo I took of her, alongside one of the latest.

Kitty was 5 years old, recently spayed after having had her final litter in the care of the rescue I was fostering for. She’d probably spent almost all her life up to then either pregnant or nursing.

She came to me to be fostered and, well, she stayed. I adopted her a few months later.
I love this girl so much. Even if she does attack my feet in bed.

We celebrated by making a donation to the rescue & more importantly to Kitty, with a Lick-e-lix.

Maybe he’s still generally wary after the Pale One?

Oh @EmpressaurusKitty nobody could resist that little puss.
She's so pretty.
