Can I ask:

several ? months ago i read a thread where it looked like @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats ? I think it was this poster, had a neighbour ? with a cat that needed rehoming for one reason or another

and I am pretty sure I then read a thread ( felt like it was almost the next day :)
where @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne ? tho I believe that is a name change ? had met up with the neighbour

and has now adopted the cat ?

and is that cat Gizmo ? or not.

and how has the adoption gone ?

yes reading that back it sounds strange ? and yes I am being nosy, and no I can't pay cat tax as I am not tec enough.

Aye, hen.

Gizmo now lives in Scotland with us.

He was christened The Broon One by an elderly neighbour, who was unable to remember his name.
🤣🤣

The White One is our other cat, Linney.

The adoption has gone well.

I can neither confirm nor deny that TC (Thug Cat) who used to belong to my NDN is actually Gizmo and was indeed banished to Scotland for his legion misdeeds. 😹

I see you're making opprobrious remarks about my cat again, Grumpy.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

aw that's lovely !

EmpressaurusKitty · 24/03/2025 08:51

Does anyone else’s cat ever stare very intently at something that isn’t there?

My bank account is in pain. Just spent a fraction over £150 at a combination of Zooplus and Pets at Home - 2 types of wet food, some litter, 2 types of dry food & some treats.

OK so the litter is well over a month's worth maybe 2, the wet food one type is over a month the other nearly 2 months, and the dry will last probably about 5-6 months. Got free delivery on both, a couple of discounts due to belonging to their respective clubs, and a brace of free valerian mini pillows for Tobias from ZooPoints, but all the same it was quite painful.

Good thing they are both so adorable in their respective ways!

Ah, but just because you can't see it, it doesn't mean there isn't anything there.

Linney does this, a lot.

It is as well we love them. If anyone else crapped on my sofa they would be out the door

🤣🤣🤣

@EmpressaurusKitty yes - but it is always shadows and light on a wall or surface. Snowcat will sit staring at subtle light patterns on the wall for ages.

I've been thinking about your cats' names and realised it just wouldn't work for us. 😻
I won't be changing my id anytime soon.

Well I didn't especially want to, but needs must when the Devil drives the biscuits.

Agatha stares intently at one particular place where the skirting board doesn't sit flush with the floor (old, wonky house - zero right angles!). It's either ghosts, or where the woodlice come in. But there's no woodlice when she does it....

She's currently sulking upstairs, as I put her Felpreva on last night.

EmpressaurusKitty · 24/03/2025 12:16

Kitty was staring towards the front door so maybe she could hear something in the corridor.

I’ve just been permitted to stroke her belly.

Pianoaholic · 24/03/2025 12:31

Lucky you @EmpressaurusKitty , I daren't try that with Herbs most of the time unless he's really sleepy.
He is currently sitting on the outside little table, he never sites on the chairs outside, only the tables.
Typical cat behaviour!

Normally if I try touching I get a ‘you know better than that’ look & she departs. This is the first time she’s ever invited it.

Maybe the attraction with the table is that it’s a bit higher up?

Pianoaholic · 24/03/2025 12:54

It's the tiniest bit higher, more likely it is because food gets put on the table sometimes, though normally just coffee and biscuits!

Funnily enough, although Stripey is a much more jittery cat than Snowcat, she is absolutely fine about belly rubs.

Esgaroth · 24/03/2025 18:17

Has Kettle been to the vet today?

Yes, the stitches are out and he's to wear the bandage for a maximum of two more days and then we have to let him at it and see how it goes. The stitches worked well but it's obviously not completely healed yet. He's not bothering at the bandage really so we are being a bit slacker with the cone.

Here he is really enjoying a head rub. He's very expressive when it comes to what he likes 😄

That’s sounding hopeful, @Esgaroth.

RumNotRun · 24/03/2025 18:28

@EmpressaurusKitty mine often stare at nothing. I think they do it to try to freak me out and make me think there are either ghosts or massive invisible spiders.

Pianoaholic · 24/03/2025 18:44

Good to hear that Kettle is doing OK @Esgaroth
