I feel very grateful that Kitty prefers the bottom end of the bed.

Pianoaholic · 23/03/2025 09:34

Yes, Herbie prefers the bottom.of the bed. He hasn't taken over the pillows yet!
But he does claw the blanket at the bottom of the bed, and it now has lots of pulled threads!

Speaking of felines being in charge, Frankfurter has informed me tonight that I no longer have a pillow on one side of the bed. This is now his pillow and I am also not allowed to complain about his old man snoring keeping me awake.

He looks like he's challenging you to try to move him.

Gizmo sits on my pillow sometimes.

Kettle is relaxing on DD's bed. It's back to the vet tomorrow to see how well the stitches have worked. I've got my fingers crossed that no further action will be required 🤞

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOneHe's too sweet to challenge me. Thankfully he hasn't been to the Gizmo school of Communication 😁

EmpressaurusKitty · 23/03/2025 12:26

Kitty says Good luck, Kettle.

Good luck to Kettle
Feeling a bit attacked from all sides.
Breadcat has done a dirty protest on the sofa (Brown leather wipeable thank goodness). I think this is in response to me putting fertilizer in some of the garden beds.
At the same time we have a pigeon trying to nest in the chimney- which does have a cowl on but it does not seem to be deterring it from dropping loads of sticks down it. Taken off my beautiful magnolia!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/03/2025 16:16

Breadcat has done a dirty protest on the sofa

Gizmo did one in the store cupboard last week.
I was cleaning the litter tray so he decided he couldn't wait, and took himself off elsewhere.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne
It is as well we love them. If anyone else crapped on my sofa they would be out the door

Pianoaholic · 23/03/2025 16:40

I was thinking that the reasons we love cats is that they do all the things we can't get away with, eg
Steal food
Sleep for hours in the day
Show no respect for property
Make a mess

and yet we love them for it!
I haven't included 'dirty protests' or pigeon killing (Herbie's speciality 😿) as I assume those are not things we aspire to!

EmpressaurusKitty · 23/03/2025 17:03

Kitty’s cross because the last cat grass died & the new one isn’t sprouting yet.

One of her birthday presents is going to be a new planter of cat grass out on the balcony so that she’ll always have some available. In spring & summer, anyway.

I’ve resisted the temptation to buy her a birthday card, but she’s got a card & present waiting from my DSis & her dog (well, I’ve never missed one of his birthdays) Grin

I am just back from a weekend away, and the catsitter has informed me that the Furry Menace brought in a massive dead rat Shock

She is 12 and pretty sedentary - it's at least a year since she killed anything (and that was a hapless baby great tit). I feel a combination of proud and embarrassed. Portrait of ruthless assassin attached.

Karl the Mighty Hunter (why didn't we rename him Nimrod?) who hasn't caught much recently, but with better weather now I'm sure he'll shortly resume his killing spree.

I know of cats who have proudly brought in "their" kills to display which actually were either killed by something else or died of natural causes - my friend would witness one of his cats slaughtering and another displaying it as their kill!

Ha - yes, this is definitely possible. I suspect her sworn enemy the local tabby is a killer. Perhaps she has opened another front in her war against him.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 23/03/2025 18:04

Can I ask:

several ? months ago i read a thread where it looked like @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats ? I think it was this poster, had a neighbour ? with a cat that needed rehoming for one reason or another

and I am pretty sure I then read a thread ( felt like it was almost the next day :)
where @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne ? tho I believe that is a name change ? had met up with the neighbour

and has now adopted the cat ?

and is that cat Gizmo ? or not.

and how has the adoption gone ?

yes reading that back it sounds strange ? and yes I am being nosy, and no I can't pay cat tax as I am not tec enough.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/03/2025 18:16

I can neither confirm nor deny that TC (Thug Cat) who used to belong to my NDN is actually Gizmo and was indeed banished to Scotland for his legion misdeeds. 😹

I once saw a previous cat of mine 'mug' his brother and nick his prey. Cats are not the ethical animals 🤣

I am worried as it seems to be pigeon season about now. And Herbie has been eying them up from his windowsill and making chattering sounds.
He is probably deciding which is the slowest and fattest for him to catch...

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 23/03/2025 18:34

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

aw thank you for that !

I remember being delighted how fast he was adopted, then never spotted a thread on cats again.

RumNotRun · 23/03/2025 19:45

@PianoaholicIt's always pigeon season here. I feed them out of my back window onto my utility room roof. Ghostie loves sitting and watching them while she makes that funny ack-ack-ack noise. The pigeons are getting used to her and a couple will actually hopefully onto the windowsill and look through the window at her.

Every now and again herring gulls will come and see if there's any good food on offer. Even Ghostie keeps quiet when they arrive, I think she realises that she wouldn't stand a chance against one of them.

Pianoaholic · 23/03/2025 19:59

@RumNotRun there are always lots of pigeons round here too, but they have been.a bit more active lately and they go in the trees in the front garden. Blissfully unaware they're being watched!
