Trying again!

Lol 😂

Sometimes I wish I was a cat. Wake up, annoy your human. Lie there, be cute and purr. Rinse and repeat

ShoutyCatSlave · 01/05/2025 09:13

I haven't seen Agatha today, yet.... She normally gets up with me / comes in for breakfast, but she's out doing Important Cat Things (I suspect this involves a lot of snoozing). She did shout at my through the back door last night when I was on the kitchen getting some water, just to let me know she was there.

Having assumed Lenny would be out last night, we were roused by a weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth outside (only about 15 minutes after we'd gone to bed.)
Lenny and GT having a VERY loud standoff.
So Lenny did then come in, having dragged me out of bed.
This morning - butter wouldn't melt (little sod)

Gizmo also got me out of bed last night, having stayed out till 2am.

This morning he's lying beside me, all innocence.

Kitty’s been asleep on the balcony all morning, although a passing delivery van had the temerity to wake her briefly.

I just had a trip to Poundland to stock up on tip tops/ice pops and saw that they sell what are essentially giant Lick e Lix. They're a different brand but come in a 75g pouch. The tribe have given them their seal of approval.

Another interpretation might be that brave, loyal Lenny stayed out when you went to bed to guard against night time marauders. Aforementioned marauders did turn up and he bravely fought the enemy off while alerting the residents.

He then came in proudly, having been the victor and driven away the enemy, and having protected his home.

This morning he is feeling modestly proud of himself.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 01/05/2025 15:04

@Allergictoironing
You may be right. This was him in my office earlier. He looks smug...

Benny, flopping in the sun to greet the boys when they got home from school.

Kettle keeping an eye out. He's jealous of the warm sunshine other excellent cats are enjoying.

Due to the heat I had my bedroom windows on lock for a bit of a breeze. The Stray frequently visits Narnia at 2am but she outdid herself with the noise last night - she fell off the windowsill twice, at 3am and then 4.40am ish. DD who owns the cat had a blissful nights sleep because she had shut her bedroom door 😠

I'm very impressed with Lenny's protection against nighttime intruders, that kitty deserves a treat.

I've heard Herbie claims to be as big as a Stately Home... 😹

Herbie feels better now, thanks @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats !

He's not enjoying this heat much, he keeps going from place to place and flopping down.
Also, he's going out later at night.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 01/05/2025 19:40

No shouting this evening.

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats working in tandem to see off the intruder very impressive. Is that Lenny and Basil- I always assume your cats pair with their siblings

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 01/05/2025 20:00

It's actually Karl and Basil.
Not entirely convinced they were seeing him off - looked more like curiosity to me.

stormsandsunshine · 01/05/2025 21:12

The girls spent the day chilling out on DD1’s bed.

Now that it’s cooler, Stripey is massacring small insects. She can jump up about 1.5m and grab them out of the air. She is such a gentle girl with us, though, and never scratches or bites even during tummy rubs.

Fred has decided he wants to go camping and has been trying out his sleeping bag.

Toad came into the lounge earlier making a strange noise. I looked round and he spat a fly out on the floor.

Naturally it wasn't Lenny, he had done his turn. It was the other boy's shift, just checking that the raider had learned his lesson after being seen off by the Alpha male last night!

Esgaroth · 02/05/2025 13:21

I opened a tin of beans for my lunch and someone came running, convinced I must be opening a tin of cat food.

He is starving and he doesn't like beans 🥺

Breadcat24 · 02/05/2025 13:32

@Esgaroth did you try to give him some anyway just to answer his request. though frankly I would not be able to resist that face and would be there with the lickylix

Esgaroth · 02/05/2025 13:40

@Breadcat24 I gave him a tiny bit of cheese instead. But don't tell anyone because he's on a diet 😉

stormsandsunshine · 02/05/2025 13:57

Stripey slammed into one of our glass patio doors yesterday for the second time. She is perfectly aware it is there normally but when something startles her in the garden then she sometimes panics and doesn’t pause to check which door is open. She was happily sniffing around outside and had been running in and out of the open door to build up confidence. Then something alarmed her and suddenly there was a thump so loud it made me spill my tea all over myself.

Fortunately she seemed completely fine afterwards, and went straight off to eat her dinner. This morning she was also normal. But I’m worried she is going to concuss herself one of these days.

EmpressaurusKitty · 02/05/2025 14:33

Poor Stripey! And she’s being so brave. Could you start putting something in front of the closed door to remind her?
