Stripey is in trouble with DD1. DD has a little toy dog that she made a couple of years ago out of pompoms (a labour of love as it was not just sticking them together but shaping and trimming the pompom to make the face look more like a dog's). She foolishly left it on her bedside table.

I found puppy's decapitated head left as a gift on the living room floor. The body had been completely shredded. DD burst into tears - Stripey sat on DD's bed and groomed herself unrepentantly.

She also pulled a tissue out of a box and ripped that to pieces all over our bedroom floor.

Gizmo and Picard had another fight in the front garden yesterday.

I'm not sure what would have happened if Pa and I hadn't gone out with bottles of water, to break it up.

Linney also went running out, to see the drama. His tail, which is enormous anyway, became extremely enormous.

Gizmo came back to the house with a small quantity of fur missing.

Picard, furious at having cold water flung on him, ran back to his own house.

Oh Stripey!!

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOneI love it when their tails go all fluffy. Franken puffed his tail up the other day at absolutely nothing. It was as if he was just practising to see if it worked.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 02/04/2025 14:21

And an update on Sebastian: he's still not hearing most things, but DD has worked out ways to get his attention.

Also, the lump on his neck which was removed was benign. We're all very glad about that.

He's getting his sutures out on Friday.

Oh poor DD1! 🥹 Hopefully she will eventually understand that Stripey was just a cat being a cat.
But it's tough sometimes!

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne All drama at your house. I always find it funny that Gizmo defends the territory against Picard when you consider what he thought of Grumpy's territory! Linney is a very tolerant cat
Promising on Sebastian lets not give up yet- Breadcat would probably wish to not hear me calling pussy wussy woo!
DH soaked one of Breadcat's twin tuxedo nemesis yesterday with a water bottle and was very pleased with himself and apparently so was Bready as she came to him for strokes all night. I was stuck in A+E for 6 hours being diagnosed with a PE

CatsonPollock · 02/04/2025 14:34

Really excellent news about Sebastian's lump @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne but so unfortunate that it's been tempered by the hearing problem. Fingers crossed that he eventually recovers more of his hearing.

stormsandsunshine · 02/04/2025 14:36

@CatsonPollock she does understand (unlike DD2, who isn't really old enough to realise that cats' minds don't work like people's, and last summer asked me to get a cat to apologise to her). And she still loves Stripey and wouldn't swap her for her pompom puppy! But I think she needs to learn to keep everything tempting out of sight. Maybe it will incentivize her to keep her room a bit tidier!

Stripey is an absolute monkey in the house - she's always the one who is jumping up onto things, trying to get into cupboards, causing trouble with the children's toys. I found her the other day hurtling downstairs holding an entire ball of yarn in her mouth which she'd somehow managed to extract from a closed cupboard. But she is also the much more timid cat about any kind of change like new places or new people. When Snowcat first ventured out of her safe room as a kitten, Stripey would stay behind and cry for her to come back.

CatsonPollock · 02/04/2025 14:38

Goodness! @Breadcat24 💐
Hope you're OK now and nothing medically urgent is on the cards!

stormsandsunshine · 02/04/2025 14:39

Are you okay now, @Breadcat24?

Breadcat24 · 02/04/2025 14:44

Safe and medicated thank you. PE number 3 so getting a bit bored of them now.
Worst thing was the wifi in A+E was so poor I could not even look at your cats in the internet!

Esgaroth · 02/04/2025 14:53

@stormsandsunshine I f I recall correctly, this means that your eldest daughter's SIL has been destroying her possessions. I sense another AIBU thread.

stormsandsunshine · 02/04/2025 14:56

@Esgaroth yes that is absolutely right. SILs on Mumsnet do cause a lot of drama.

NC at the very least.

Esgaroth · 02/04/2025 14:58

Glad you're all right @Breadcat24. A trip to A&E is always horrible. Hope Breadcat is looking after you (and delighted to hear her enemy has had a soaking!).

What is it with these cats and fighting eh. My children aren't nearly as much bother (though can I resolve any social problems they have by taking their side unequivocally and throwing water over the other child? Would be good to know for the future.)

Breadcat24 · 02/04/2025 15:02

@Esgaroth Thank you. Yes cat war is a pain. The thing is the two tuxedo brothers are both fine looking cats who have a great time prancing about the neighbourhood. They chase Breadcat and they torment dogs who are shut behind gates then dance off down the street. They have such fun I find it hard to be too cross with them. But DH is armed with 2 supersoakers and going for it!

I would like that!
Currently enjoying the guilty pleasure that is MAFS Australia!

Compared to some of the naughty cats on this thread, what with the fighting and destroying handmade toys, Herbie is being very well behaved! Quite unlike him.

Hope those words don't come back to haunt me!
Here he is enjoying the front garden in the sun.

Breadcat24 · 02/04/2025 17:51

@Esgaroth thank you for caring, but I have anti- coagulants now so all will get better again. I am lucky I spotted it and got treated. And I get out of my spin class tomorrow!
