It's A Lucas fibre heel generator contact set 470019 / ST340 fitted to CA1, E3B, E3ES & E3E Motorcycle dynamos/generators (Anti-Clockwise rotation). It fits various British Motorcycles of the early 1930s (and yes - I can provide an application list)

You did ask 🤣

I used to work with a bloke who went to jumbles at Kempton Park - probably still does. I expect he’d be fascinated by your stuff, @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats.

CatsonPollock · 26/03/2025 19:16

It's extremely likely that my DB (and possibly my DF depending on how long you've been in business) has probably purchased something from you Grumpy - Velocette and Norton motor cycles!

Esgaroth · 26/03/2025 19:50

Kettle's enjoying curling up as tight as he can - you can't do that with a cone on!

First picture is the bike show at Kempton Park a few weeks ago 🤣

Been trading formally for well over 20 years and informally for 15 years before that. So quite possible.

You're right, I did ask. But not phased really, I helped my father strip, clean & mostly rebuild his Norton International 500 that had been squeezed into a Dominator featherbed frame (by Norton themselves) many years ago. But I refused to touch the electrics, they were a bit beyond my skills.

In fact, the bike itself or at least most of it is still tucked away in my brother's garage!

Is there a discount if I buy 3,000?

I'm afraid I've never been into bikes - both my older brothers were and one had a pretty serious accident - it put me off tbh.
I could bore for England when it comes to ignition part reference numbers & applications though. 🤣

Alas only about 20 of those left in stock.
I do however have in excess of 1000 Moskvitch 407 sump gaskets - I suspect I'll be buried with them...

Never!

LOVE those Moskvitch sump gaskets!

I've been trying to source approximately1,014 of them for AGES.

What are the chances?

Send them immediately (free of charge) as compensation for having foisted Gizmo on to me

Edited

You could turn them into a giant cat toy by tying them together, hanging them up & fixing wand toys in some of the holes.

Or Gizmo could throw them at Picard.

Hours of fun.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/03/2025 22:12

Genius idea. Since I last sold one of those sets in 2019 I'll try launching a brand of Moskvitch component based cat toys instead. I'll test drive them on our cats 😹

Snowcat was very brave today and sat in the flowerbed closest to the house.

Stripey watched her from the safety of the stairs indoors. Then Snowcat went back inside to get her and they came back together. Stripey then felt brave enough to sit by the open door while Snowcat went back onto the patio.

There was a huge pigeon half way down the lawn and they were eyeing it up but too scared to venture onto the grass. The pigeon looked like he had worked that out and was taunting them.

Y

I've tried to put kitten mittens on him before. He shakes them right off so we'd have to tape them on.

And the vet said we had to let it open to the air and allow him to lick it. We explained about all the trouble we had with his other wound but she seemed to think it would be OK. It's not an open wound, it's just red. Looks a bit like a burn or something.😕

That video is hilarious!!😹

Well done girls!! Maybe that pigeon will give them an incentive to reach the grass.

Breadcat24 · 27/03/2025 13:14

how is Sebastian @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

Still deaf. No improvement.

I've found a sub-Reddit of people whose cats have had anaesthetic-induced deafness. A very few cats have regained some hearing at about six months, but most have not.

OP posts:
TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 27/03/2025 15:24

"Deafness may occur in dogs and cats following anaesthesia for dental and ear cleaning procedures, but the prevalence is low. The hearing loss appears to be permanent."

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 27/03/2025 15:26

Bugger. Really sorry that there is no sign of improvement. Is Sebastian distressed by it?

Esgaroth · 27/03/2025 15:39

I've never heard of that being a risk before. Really bad luck for poor Sebastian. I hope he isn't feeling too confused about it.

Esgaroth · 27/03/2025 15:46

Kettle has been mrowing around the doors and windows all day. He clearly thinks that it's about time he was allowed out again now the cone has gone and we are having some very welcome spring like weather.

I saw his arch enemy a few days after the fight and I got him with the super soaker. Not terribly kind, but no lasting harm done and I haven't seen him since that so hopefully he got the message!

Actually, not really.

It's DD2 who's upset, which I understand.

He's going back next week for removal of sutures. I don't know how they test deaf cats?

I have several NMHCs here in Cape Verde. 2 older ones with clipped ears (although the black one looked very pregnant to me!) and a young, intact male. The older ones were very polite, came in, had a nose, drank some fresh water I'd put down for them, then left when I herded them towards the doors. The black male, however, was not invited. I didn't want him spraying etc.. I had to pick him up to evict him! All lovely in their different ways, and yes, like I expect all English ladies of a certain vintage do here, I shall be buying the little bags of kibble that they sell in the supermarkets specifically for the street cats and dogs.....
