Looking at the state of your breakfast table, I think it's quite easy to see why they're judging you Grin

It's not just the cats judging me then 🤣🤣🤣

Why have you got a packet of spark plugs on your breakfast table?

I have an amusing side line of selling parts for classic cars.
There are almost always some random car parts awaiting packing on the kitchen table.
Photo from a show of our stall a few weeks ago included.

And a different show last Sunday.

Apologies for the odd angles on these - to avoid a reveal I've had to cut Mrs G's head off from the pictures 😲

That display is a good deal tidier than your breakfast table.

Sebastian has a problem.

He seems to have gone deaf following his surgery yesterday.

DD2 and I have done a lot of googling and it's listed as a rare side-effect of dental surgery. It's supposed to be permanent.

Have any of you heard of this happening? Has anyone got a deaf cat? What's the best way to look after them? Sebastian is 14.

Oh shit, poor Sebastian! That's terrible luck. I hope it somehow does turn out to be temporary.

Breadcat24 · 26/03/2025 14:22

poor sebastian

EmpressaurusKitty · 26/03/2025 14:25

Poor Sebastian! I’m so sorry.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/03/2025 14:29

Really sorry to hear about Sebastian - also fingers crossed that this isn't permanent.
How is he reacting to it?

He's still less than 24 hrs post anaesthetic, so a bit woozy.

He's eating and drinking fine and he's a bit sleepy. His meow has changed (I haven't heard him but this is what DD2 says).

Cleo is very happy to have him back - she was looking for him all day yesterday.

We've unwrapped Kettle's paw and he's given it a wash. It is a bit gross but I don't think it looks too bad. He's on house arrest for a while longer of course and we'll be keeping an eye on it. Fingers crossed it continues to heal because the vet said we had to unbandage it to let the air to it, which is going to mean licking but hopefully it'll be all right 🤞

Y

I've tried to put kitten mittens on him before. He shakes them right off so we'd have to tape them on.

And the vet said we had to let it open to the air and allow him to lick it. We explained about all the trouble we had with his other wound but she seemed to think it would be OK. It's not an open wound, it's just red. Looks a bit like a burn or something.😕

@EmpressaurusKitty that's unclear to me. I think they've both had ceremonies just with DD2, but I wasn't invited to either (which is quite a snub actually- maybe I should start an AIBU thread about it).

Best not to reveal their names are Snowcat and Stripey though, as it might be a bit of a giveaway.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 26/03/2025 16:07

I think Kettle's wound will be okay.
It's a good idea to let him lick it.
Cats are very clever at healing themselves.

Poor Sebastian, that's a side effect you wouldn't expect. Hope it's turns out to be temporary.

Poor Kettle as well, that looked like it was nasty. Glad he's on the mend and out of conefinement again.

But @stormsandsunshine absolutely MUST share a link to the thread if she starts it.

Inspired by @JaceLancsI have bought myself some Lego. I made a pigeon - the same set can also make a cat and a dog.

I love that lego @RumNotRun . Maybe I should get it for Herbie!

I have some of the flower sets, and dropped a hint about having another one for mothers day. If I don't, which is quite likely, I will buy it for myself!

Yes!

She’s discussing the guest list for her birthday party with Molly’s Mouse, but her presents from me - catnip & cat grass for the balcony - are going to have to wait until it’s a bit warmer, I think.

What is the reason for cats being fascinated by boxes?

I have no idea….

Esgaroth · 26/03/2025 18:01

Boxes are just cosy aren't they? And cardboard is sort of warm - I heard it also absorbs cat scent markings very well which was theorised to be a reason cats like cardboard.

I'm more intrigued by what's in the small, scruffy, 50's looking green box next to Sybil...

It's A Lucas fibre heel generator contact set 470019 / ST340 fitted to CA1, E3B, E3ES & E3E Motorcycle dynamos/generators (Anti-Clockwise rotation). It fits various British Motorcycles of the early 1930s (and yes - I can provide an application list)

You did ask 🤣
