I spent ages last night trying to think of this thread title.

🤣🤣🤣

Toad wanted to come with me 😥 It wasn't fun trying to get a suitcase out of the front door while making sure a little black beast stayed inside.

Linney is white but is currently sporting a load of black and grey splodges.

He keeps sitting in our neighbour's outside wheelchair house, and getting covered in dust.

Here he is, carefully washing one of the parts of his fur which is still white.

Honestly mine loves my power chair. We keep a blanket over it, to protect from cat fluff. Sadly my cat didn't get the memo & climb under it
Now the throw is positioned just how he likes it, so he can go 'camping'.

Well there's never a dull moment with this cat. Saw him batting a hair tie around the floor while I was cooking dinner and idly thought, 'Aw cute, but I should probably take that away from him'. Turned away for a second and looked back to see him doing a big gulp. No hair tie to be seen.

Trip to the emergency vet for drugs to make him vomit, me and the vet take turns to spin him around on a chair. When she puts him down he looks rough as hell but doesn't vomit, licks his chest a little and then lies down to go to sleep.

So now we've got to give him paraffin oil and hope to fuck he manages to shit it out. 😩

Poor baby, & poor you. I hope the hair tie came out okay.

Mine loves cotton buds.

Esgaroth · 30/10/2024 11:16

So glad Basil's feeling better and peeing normally! What a relief. These cats do put their owners through the wringer, don't they - I think I went into cat ownership with a bit of naivety about the stress when they're ill or injured.

Kettle's leg is looking better with the new regime so I think the antibiotics are working as intended. He's a good boy about swallowing the pills. He's always such a good boy, he'd be the perfect beginner's cat if he wasn't having all these health issues.

He's eating normally, no puking, seems bright. Unfortunately he's not done a single poo since he swallowed the hair band on Monday evening. I am going to give him today since he seems well in himself and if no poo is forthcoming by tomorrow morning I think it's back to the vet. With my luck this is probably going to end in surgery isn't it?

TheShellBeach · 30/10/2024 11:16

@Esgaroth has Kettle excreted the hair tie yet?

Honestly, that cat! He's so gorgeous but seems to be permanently in the wars at the moment. I hope he's okay.

Cross post! No he hasn't.

I hope he's OK too. I think I've aged several years in the just over a month that we've had a cat.

Cats do that to us 😭.
Really hope that the hair tie 'appears' naturally soon. 👍

Breadcat24 · 30/10/2024 11:29

@Esgaroth What a nightmare. Mine chews plastic bags.
You will probably fret and pay a fortune at the vet and then find out he flicked the hair tie under a piece of furniture!

Unfortunately he definitely didn't. We moved not too long ago and haven't really got enough furniture for the house yet so the bit he was in is very bare and there is nowhere it could have got to.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/10/2024 16:19

Have heard a few 'arguments' outside over the last few days.
New cat on the block.
Hope he isn't channelling his inner TC. 🙀

I've just showed Gizmo the picture of that cat, and he says it's his cousin.

He can't recall the name of his cousin at the moment.

@Esgaroth I love that when you moved, you got a cat rather than furniture. Priorities in the right order!

He is gorgeous! Of course, I do love a ginger.

Missing Walter and Benny at the moment. In Spain for half term with my two boys. It's their first time abroad, I must have taken leave of my senses tbh. I spotted this sign when we were having lunch today and thought of you @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats. Sent my 9yo to take a photo 😂

Great spot & love the sign BUT
No apostrophe 😭.
Enjoy Spain - hope you are well away from the flooding.

Esgaroth · 30/10/2024 21:42

Reasonably good news - Kettle managed to do a big poo. Of course I excitedly broke it into pieces searching for the hair tie, with little thought for the depths I have sunk to. No sign of it.

But I am happy that he is obviously not seriously blocked up. TMI but it was remarkably firm considering the amount of paraffin oil laced liquid treats I've been giving him, so though we're not out of the woods, he's officially not exhibiting any signs of a medical emergency.

And his leg is looking really very encouraging. So I'm feeling rather cheerful tonight!

Hair tie watch continues.👀

Ooh, he looks pretty hard. Tell your lot to be careful and don't start anything silly.

Poor Penelope is feeling very sad today. Her eye ulcer has reoccurred, as it did last time. She's on gabapentin for pain relief and is a bit dopey.

TheShellBeach · 30/10/2024 23:03

Aw Penelope.

I have met my first NMMC (Not My Mexican Cat). She (I couldn't see any kitten balls) was quite friendly but I had no food for her and she didn't want to share my margarita 😂

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats I hadn't noticed the lack of an apostrophe, that's not like me.

We're nowhere near the flooding, thankfully. Mainly here for Portaventura. Heading home tomorrow and I'm completely exhausted.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 31/10/2024 12:13

Rum love your NMMC. Looks very sweet. 😻
