Haha very diplomatic.

The story is we don't live in the UK and his name is really the word for kettle in our other language (which is a real name here) but it sounds pretty much like Kettle anyway. So here I will call him Kettle instead of his 'official' spelling because it's easier.

Kettle also comes from the Latin catillus and though really the meaning has nothing to do with cats it sounds a bit like it does Grin

RumNotRun · 26/09/2024 20:54

Kettle has an incredibly tempting tum. He looks very happy living with you.

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 26/09/2024 21:00

Hello @Esgaroth & Kettle! I’ve been enjoying your other thread. Kettle’s a lucky boy.

Pixiedust1234 · 26/09/2024 21:06

You have had a cat for only 5 days and he lets you touch his tummy?? Are you a witch? 😯

DD has started getting very grumpy with me. Apparently she's noticed me call out "puss puss puss" and "come on kittycat". Worse still a furry grey/white thing usually responds. I shall continue until she comes up with a name I feel comfortable using in the garden at 6pm when the neighbours are outside. Until then she's pusspusspuss 😬

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 26/09/2024 21:09

Grin What’s she come up with so far?

Pixiedust1234 · 26/09/2024 21:26

Well that's the problem. I've come up with two but I don't think either really suit her. Willow or Winnie - with Winifred her naughty name.

She was originally nicknamed ghostcat when we looked at the overnight wildlife cameras as she seemed to suddenly appear (and looked very similar to another stray we'd had for several months already, like a ghostly shadow). She's very good at teleporting in the house as well so I kinda wanted a witchy/spooky name but these all seem to fit black cats, Willow is the nearest for non black. I don't think pusspusspuss is that baaaadd a name though 🤔

Esgaroth · 26/09/2024 22:03

I think Willow is a lovely name! But all cats are pusspusspuss sometimes, aren't they?

Definitely not a witch, I think we just got incredibly lucky and found the soppiest cat in the world. I told the rescue we were looking for a young adult cat with a friendly and cuddly character and my god did they deliver!

Kittensat36 · 26/09/2024 22:13

My two. They were out in last night's rain then used me as a towel.

Zadar is definitely on my holiday list now 😻
Love the big tabby.

Admit it, Grumpy, you are missing TC/Gizmo!

Congratulations on yet another brilliant thread title, Shell.

Very sorry to read about Paddington, Toddler. There is someone out there who has the ideal home for him.

Aha! I had lurked on that thread but not recently so missed the naming! he looks so settled, obviously knows he has landed on his paws!

AnneKipankitoo · 27/09/2024 08:12

A friend of a friend had a rescue cat that was losing all its fur. It had multiple allergies apparently. Daily meds now.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 27/09/2024 08:34

I freely admit that I miss TC - he was a constant source of entertainment (and I do like a grumpy cat). We did (briefly) think about taking him on but it wouldn't have been fair on our cats
Our cats really don't miss him, they are much more relaxed leaving the house now, particularly Basil.

Breadcat24 · 27/09/2024 10:25

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats Frankly it is amazing that you have 4 cats that get on with each other!
Breadcat hates all other cats and most humans.
I think it is amazing how well TC /Gizmo has integrated into Shell's house with Linney
Only downside is we get less pictures of the furry four glaring at him through the window

TheShellBeach · 27/09/2024 10:35

Jeez, they had an awful fight yesterday.

Picard and Gizmo went mad in our bedroom, and Mr SB had to escort Picard to the door, while I picked up the bits of Gizmo's fur from the carpet.

Then Linney joined in, and he chased Picard all the way to the car park, and came back covered in oil from underneath one of the cars.

I've never seen Linney so angry. Or so dirty. He looks like a skunk, with a stripe down his back and tail.

I'm very pleased (and relieved) that TC is fitting in with Linney too.

We've always had multiple cats and never really had any issues with them getting on. They all share one large litter tray and all eat from the same bowls without problems. Lenny and Sybil do have spats with each other, but as a group they all rub along together quite happily. It's also not unusual to have more than one cat on a lap at the same time and in the evening all four are usually all in the living room with us.

Where would we be without the little furry beasts? 😻

Missed this. So are Linney and Gizmo behaving as a tag team against Picard now?

Poor Picard - hope he *and the other cats) are all OK.

RumNotRun · 27/09/2024 11:59

Although I feel bad for Picard, that's so heartwarming that Linney was defending his adopted brother 🥰 It's as if Picard has become the new TC, and Linney and Gizmo are any two of Grumpy's boys.

It's odd really.

Linney has always been very chilled with Picard, but he was definitely defending Gizmo.

Mind you, in the evening, they were all in the garden, sitting together again. All three of them.

Couldn't agree more. 'Inscrutable' should be the middle name of every cat.

Esgaroth · 27/09/2024 16:07

Kettle dared to have a look round the living room and peep into the garden. Before swiftly heading back downstairs! He never stays up long but he's coming up more and more frequently. I tried to give him his breakfast up here to create positive feelings but he wasn't having any of it 😆

I think I'm in love with his stripy tail.

He's going to be up there all the time soon - It looks like a very tempting view! Do you plan on eventually letting him go outside?

Stripey tail is very stripey 😄

Kettle is a magnificent cat.

That is a VERY fine tail. Kettle looks like he has a touch of raccoon in his heritage.
