For anyone here with adult children - do you ever stop worrying about them?

No, never.

You're right. Cats are easier, even if they do scratch your arm off when you're taking them to the vet for their own good

I preferred Cathy Gale, but it was old Lauren Bacall films that helped me work out I was a lesbian.

As for sleeping - I’ve got no idea what’s so comfy about a cardboard scratching pad!

And eschewing the comfy, cushioned cat bed in the background for hard cardboard.

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 25/09/2024 18:14

Exactly. Although she spent most of today at her guard post, which is much more comfortable & lets her see everything that’s going on, plus her own beautiful reflection.

Ghostie is feeling cute today. She also invites anyone to stroke the fluffy white tum.

That is very sweet 😻

Oh, she’s gorgeous. Is it safe to stroke the fluffy white tum or is it a trap?

RumNotRun · 25/09/2024 22:01

It entirely depends on her mood, who you are, whether Sagittarius is rising...I don't actually know if that's a thing, but it shows how random the chances of being mauled are 😁 She does like to do the classic cat thing of purr, purr, purr, attack. You do also get swiped if you dare to stop tummy tickles or any affection before she decides she has had enough. She's a very demanding tripod cat.

Whereas this little gremlin loves tummy tickles and will roll over to give you better access 😄

Sounds like Ghostie’s very good on boundaries! What’s the little gremlin’s name?

I’m permitted to stroke Kitty’s belly but she’s much more enthusiastic about chin rubs.

RumNotRun · 26/09/2024 07:08

The gremlin is Lexter. He's a very good boy.

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 26/09/2024 07:40

He looks like a very comfy boy.

Not My Holiday Cats
NMHCs of Zadar say hello
Tabby was watching a row of pigeons in a very speculative manner.
White cat was a very professional restaurant visitor (come to table , sit polite meow)
White and tortie was a bit of a lizard chaser

Zadar is definitely on my holiday list now 😻
Love the big tabby.

RumNotRun · 26/09/2024 13:54

Very handsome/beautiful NMHCs. I had not heard of Zadar before so that was also an educational post for me 😁

The gremlin is chilling and being silly.

Sybil with telltale evidence of finishing off my shredded wheat this morning.

May I ask what the back story is for your little gremlin? There was a previous post of him (I think!) where he had more fur, and is his little bleb a permanent accoutrement? (Tell me to bugger off if you don't want to say!)

I was very much a Lady Penelope groupie and had my own Lady P doll complete with deerstalker hat, a cape and long red plastic boots, plus a cigarette holder that you stuck in her hand!

Plus, didn't twizzle or Torchy have a cat. One of them did and we named our first one after it ....Footso!

RumNotRun · 26/09/2024 17:57

@Pudmyboy So Lexter was found with his mum living in a friend's chiminea. I took them both in until space was found in a rescue. The mum Tyskie kept going missing for weeks at a time. In the end she went to live with a friend where she was an indoor cat, and died of some kind of seizure not long afterwards. The vet thinks it was either something genetic or due to being stray for so long.

Lexter (originally Lech, also after Polish beer) was fine and gorgeous but HATED me. He was fine for ages but then stayed out more and more until he was only seen occasionally by my neighbours and me. He just starting losing his fur over time. He then got a terrible tear at the back of his leg. We managed to catch him and get him to the vet. They didn't know why he was losing his fur but said it may be genetic as his mum always had patchy fur.

He's been an indoor cat since coming back from the vet and his fur has slowly grown back but he is still naked in some places and I think he always will be. Weirdly after hating me and loving outside, he now hates outside and loves...well, tolerates me 😁

RumNotRun · 26/09/2024 17:59

This was him when he was most naked!

Oh and no, he doesn't often blep. He leaves that to Vixen who does almost always have her tongue poking out.

Wow, what a life he's had!
I know we often talk here about how (rightly) spoiled our furry overlord's lives are, but when you hear the start some have had: well they deserve every scrap of joy the can get!
Glad he has 'flipped' to be an indoor and loving tolerant moggy😸

I seem to remember Twizzle had best friend called Nosy Parker...imagine trying to name them that these days!

Esgaroth · 26/09/2024 20:20

Can Kettle join? He is an excellent cat with a very fluffy tummy (that you are most welcome to rub - not a trap!).

He's only been with us for 5 days so 95% of his time is spent in his 'safe room' still although he's been making a few short forays up to the ground floor and spending less and less time under the guest bed. Upstairs is too much for now.

Lovely little boy @Esgaroth , and extra lovely that he allows belly rubs on that very tempting tummy!
Interesting name: is there a story behind it,?
