Can I join with my two beautiful ragdolls? Long time lurker of these threads and thought it was about time I shared pics of these two beauties

They are beautiful! What are they called? Hope it matches their glamorous looks!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/09/2024 10:26

@winteristhebest Love the expression on your seal-point's face 😍

winteristhebest · 24/09/2024 10:29

They're called Alfie (the tabster) and Bertie (the seal point) @Pudmyboy

Bertie is as mischievous as he looks (and loves the sound of his own meow!) and Alfie is as sweet and snuggly as he looks 🥰

RumNotRun · 24/09/2024 11:12

My first crushes were Michael Jackson and Boy George. I was a strange child.

Anniegetyourgun · 24/09/2024 13:29

I can beat that, Rum. I didn't have crushes on pop stars. I went overboard for horror film actors (Christopher Lee a particular favourite). On the puppet show thing, I can just about remember Supercar, was terrified by the robot in Fireball XL5, did enjoy Stingray but thought Troy Tempest was a bit up himself (well he was, wasn't he! Poor Atlanta...) and then got a bit of a crush on the least likely Tracy character in Thunderbirds, Gordon. Pity one saw the least of him.

Oh, newcomers you say? Welcome all! On the fishy theme I am impelled to re-post an earlier snap of Izzy practising the art of angling.

I had a massive Bram Stoker's Dracula poster in my room, probably A2 size with Gary Oldman on it. The poster terrified me but I thought Gary Oldman was gorgeous. I was about 12/13 🤣 He was a bit old for me I think!

Toad is being annoying this afternoon, insisting on sitting on my back/shoulders, or on the back of my chair with his feet resting against me. I have tried to explain that I am not a leaning post but he ignores me.

Anniegetyourgun · 24/09/2024 14:46

That wasn't my favourite Dracula version, but Gary Oldman is always good value.

Of course you're a leaning post! At least it's a step up from being a scratching post (again).

RumNotRun · 24/09/2024 15:06

Toad is now sulking and is lying on top of a plug, just to show how hard his life is. He is a poor unloved waif with nowhere comfortable to sleep.

Emma Peel ❤️

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats You are male. I am presuming you are straight (as you are married to Mrs G who is female). You are of an appropriate age for The Avengers to have been on when you were a teen. Therefore if you DIDN'T have a crush on Emma Peel there would be something wrong with you. I'm very hetero, but had a crush on her too!

I always preferred Phones to Troy Tempest. Then again, I was quite fond of Brains in Thunderbirds - I think cerebral does it for me.

I don't think I have seen a pic of Toad sleeping in what could be considered a 'normal' position, or on anything that looks remotely comfortable!
Do you think he would like a bed of nails?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/09/2024 19:07

Allergic Your logic is impeccable 😁.

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 24/09/2024 19:14

I preferred Cathy Gale, but it was old Lauren Bacall films that helped me work out I was a lesbian.

As for sleeping - I’ve got no idea what’s so comfy about a cardboard scratching pad!

@Pudmyboy he does sometimes sleep in more normal places although he will curl himself up into an impossibly tiny ball. At the moment he's just chilling on the arm of the sofa, contemplating whether to jump on me or go for food.

Gizmo was draped over the very edge of our bed yesterday, fast asleep, until gravity came into play and he fell off.

Did he give you The Look to show it was really all your fault?

One of the best evenings out I had was watching Diana Rigg performing Medea at the Almeida Theatre in Islington in the early 90's. I had not long previously studied the play as part of an extra "O" level (Greek Literature) and to see such an incredible actress perform the part was immense.

TheShellBeach · 25/09/2024 08:11

Love the Almeida, Allergic.

We live a very long way from London now but theatres and concert halls are the things I miss.

Going back a few posts... but I remember Twizzle and Torchy the Battery Boy! Also watched all the Anderson puppet shows with a brother who was a big Captain Scarlet and Thunderbirds fan. I remember one of his primary school photos where he's got about 5 or 6 Capt Scarlet badges pinned on his jumper (days of no school uniform!) I think they were from the cereal boxes we had in days of yore - Rice Krispies probably 😄

Back to cats... both keeping me company last night.

For anyone here with adult children - do you ever stop worrying about them?
DS1 - (self employed classical pianist) has hurt his hand falling off a bike in London. Bandaged up at A&E - waiting to see if it's broken... Was due to be playing for a week in Dublin in 2 1/2 weeks. I may have gently pointed out that he's a complete berk risking his livelihood

Cats are so much easier.
