Being almost mid summer, the birds started their dawn chorus at about 4:10am today. I know this because Tobias decided to join in right outside my (open) bedroom door. He then celebrated the sunrise by galloping up and down the stairs a few million times, by which time I couldn't get back to sleep.

But he did reward me when I eventually staggered down the stairs by letting me give him a scritch, so not all bad.

I told Vixen that she can't sit on my shoulders again.

Ah no. So now I know DD has left a pen open somewhere…

@LostCats oops! Mine have nearly ended up with paint and nail varnish on them a few times.

Toad and Vixen have evicted me from my office chair.

We have mice in the garden. Leroy is having an absolute field day 🙈

When Thrifty went to the vets the other week they gave her the first part of a 2-part Panacur treatment in case of lungworm. Today we gave her the other part. I was expecting somewhat more resistance at home and indeed she protested strongly. I scooped her out of her favourite bed on the cat tree and she squalled furiously and thrashed out with all limbs - but no claws. She also complained angrily as DS parted the hair on the back of her neck as she no doubt realised what was coming, and had a lot to say about the actual application. After successful spotting of the dreaded substance we let her get down, washed our hands and gave her treats, whereupon she calmed down and demanded a fuss. Neither of us have lost any skin. This is fairly amazing and definitely won't happen when/if we have to treat the other one.

Worn out with lying outside in the sun, Linney decided to lie inside on the carpet for a change.

Well Annie, I'm relieved that neither of you are nursing any wounds after your brave application to Thrifty's neck.

Linney nearly always has such a placid expression. We've seen pics of him looking mildly put out about twice, I think. Rest of the time he's like total Zen Cat, whatever's going on. I suppose he realises how beautiful he is and doesn't want to spoil it by making faces.

@Minesril But that is so obviously a cat bed. It's got a cat on it to prove it.

I have clearly done something good today as I am being rewarded with Lexter bedtime snuggles. He kept shouting at me downstairs so I gave up watching Lucifer and came to bed. Maybe this is what he wanted all along.

Saturday's bloodbath massacre appears to have worked. No mice.
