Going on holiday to Italy soon for a bit of decent weather. Breadcat has decided to pack herself

You mean you're not taking her?
🤣

Lexter, Ghostie, and Toad took possession of my suitcase when I got back from the weekend away. I've been allowed to unpack but the suitcase remains open on my bedroom floor. Toad doesn't understand personal space though.

But personal space is for cuddling. Didn’t you know 😁

RumNotRun · 24/05/2024 23:44

He's now inserted himself into a very civilised nap session that Lexter and Frankie were having. Weirdly all the other cats love him, despite him not understanding boundaries 😁

They start life being so cute... 🤣

"The trouble with a kitten
is that
eventually it becomes
A CAT."

(Ogden Nash, in case anyone thinks I'm a genius. Not saying I'm not, but this poem isn't proof of it.)

RumNotRun · 25/05/2024 18:06

This is definitely how my cats view themselves.

We've had a full day of Linney and our two resident NMCs, Picard and Suzy.

All three have been in the front garden, caterwauling at each other, and Linney has been trying to stop the other two from coming into the house.

He didn't succeed though, because he can't be on the steps and the windowsill simultaneously.

TheShellBeach · 25/05/2024 18:15

Eventually though, Picard and Suzy scarpered when Mr SB did the hoovering, and Linney retreated to his new cave.

Love the new cave, Shell.
Matt made a weird panting noise yesterday and I was concerned till I noticed his eyes were fixed on the garden.
There was a tabby cat peering over the fence. And a magpie on the fence. Pretty sure it was the NMC that he was outraged about however. Though not outraged enough to get down off the windowsill to see it off. 😂

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/05/2024 07:36

Bloody cats treat us like a hotel.
We were out all day yesterday but the cats were in. Got back late and they (the boys anyway) wanted to go out. Needless to say they wouldn't come back in so were dirty stop outs all night.
This morning three cats shouting (miaow, miaow. miaow. miaow. miaow) outside - very pleased (briefly) to see us, possibly due to provision of a large breakfast. Ten minutes later, despite the rain, the 'kittens' are outside again.
Ungrateful little sods - worse than teenagers. 🤣

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/05/2024 08:13

Yet poor TC is at your your door (and even your window) come rain, hail or shine, begging for a chance to become your loyal companion ... and he is routinely shunned 😢

Anniegetyourgun · 26/05/2024 09:30

Impossible that TC would ever work out that if he were less bitey he'd be more welcome. It just doesn't work like that.

TheShellBeach · 26/05/2024 13:23

We bought Linney the new cave because I was worried that his igloo was a bit small for him.

Unfortunately, the cave is plenty big enough, to the extent that we can't tell if he's inside or not.

It means peering in, and we're both a bit old and arthritic. And when we go to bed, the lights are dim, so it's hard to see if he's asleep at the back of it.

Me: Is that cat outside or did you let him in?

Mr. SB: Can't remember.

Me: Well it's all right for you. You're in bed. How am I meant to see if he's in his house?

Mr SB: Kneel down.

Me: Don't be ridiculous.

Mr SB: If he's still outside he'll miaow to come back in when he wants to.

Me: Yes, after I've got into bed.

Mr SB: Well you can get out again.

Me: Huh.

Mr SB: Try lifting the cave up. It'll be heavy if he's inside.

Me: But that'll disturb him, and he'll run out.

Mr SB: So he can run back in when he's ready.

Me: Aw. Poor Linney.

Mr SB: I told you not to get that thing. At least we could see him in the other one.

etc etc etc etc etc.

Linney, easily visible in his igloo:

Cave, with room for about ten large cats in it:

Well he obviously loves it! Is there any way you could put a light behind it that you could turn on a see a cat silhouette?
Or put some flat scales underneath it so you know if it has extra cat weight? !!😹

Breadcat24 · 26/05/2024 13:53

@RumNotRun I am impressed with your three cat luggage. I am a bit tight so only take carry on.
At least I will feel at home when on holiday with my clothes covered in cat fur.

That might work!

@Breadcat24 I was only travelling by train so no luggage charges 😁

Shell, you need to train Linney to hang an "At home" sign outside his new cave. He can turn the sign around when he goes for a wander.
