Think there is a problem with her right eye. (Not the one she punctured a few years ago. It's been funky fir a while. (Not unusual) but now she really doesn't like it being cleaned at all. Back to the vet tomorrow. Sod's Law being what it is. Cheddar is having a scale at polish at my parents vet 25 miles away tomorrow!

She's loads better. The vets were really smitten with her. Apparently she fell asleep with her head in the food bowl. 🥰 and has eaten chicken. She's got conjunctivitis in her other eye, so got ointment for that. Got them to give me another bottle of loxicom which I'll keep in the cupboard for emergencies!

Oh bless her. She's been through the mill.
Hope she feels better soon

Toddlerteaplease · 03/03/2023 20:53

Enjoying my heated throw.

Nothing like a heated blanket after an operation is there? She is going through the mill though.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 04/03/2023 08:36

How is she this morning?

Toddlerteaplease · 04/03/2023 08:48

She's ok. Sitting on my pillow purring. Dosed her up with pain killers and antibiotics. I'm on a twelve hour shift so I've got my mum and dad to go in at much time to check on her. She won't touch that wound though.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 04/03/2023 09:04

Well she’ll probably just sleep while your out.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/03/2023 09:22

That's what they both usually do anyway. It's an exhausting life.

Have got some dry kitten food to add to their normal food to try and fatten her up a bit. She's not keen on wet food so i'm bit stuck on how else to get more calories in her.

Try something like renal food.

When I had to feed that because of Boycat's CKD, Girlcat was looking pregnant within a few weeks and after 2 months I thought she was going to give birth to a litter of 10. In the last 4 weeks, since being back on her normal food (no other changes) she's lost nearly half of the excess. And it's not that she's eating less, if anything she's eating more of her normal indoor food than she ever was on the renal diet.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/03/2023 10:06

Renal food costs a fortune! And it's got to be suitable for Cheddar as they share. And she's very sensitive.

You don't have to tell me about the cost! 3 months on it nearly ruined me.

Cooked chicken is supposed to put weight in in cats. Plus I've found mostly dry eating Girlcat likes that, and cooked beef, and high protein is supposed to be good for weight.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/03/2023 10:47

She loves a bit of steak!

Toddlerteaplease · 04/03/2023 10:47

Apparently she ate chicken at the vet yesterday. I was amazed.

There you go - visit to the cooked meats section of the supermarket coming up. 😁

Toddlerteaplease · 04/03/2023 12:12

Can they eat rotisserie chicken?

OP posts:
Allergictoironing · 04/03/2023 12:57

Boycat used to. It's just chicken, but I would take any skin off because you don't know what they may have put in any coatings. I used to also give him shreds of KFC if I indulged myself - but without thet coating ofc! Girlcat wasn't as interested as he was, but he would go mad for KFC.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 04/03/2023 15:14

One of the vets here said it was her last resort for cats in her surgery refusing to eat.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/03/2023 21:37

I pre warned them, that's she's unlikely to eat. But would have her head in the food bowl as soon as she got home. Makes me laugh when thy say, to try something light and normal food from the next day. Err that's not happening. She wants her normal food.

She woke me up at 4.30 having a sneezing for that was distressing her. She really needed a good suction! She settled down and was purring again. On a other 12 hour shift, so hope she's ok. Think stuff is draining from her eye.

OP posts:
Florissant · 05/03/2023 12:36

Poor Snorg. How is she doing today?

Toddlerteaplease · 05/03/2023 14:36

Hopefully ok. But I'm on a Long shift. She was fine when I left for work. But a bit anxious because of the sneezing this morning. It usually doesn't bother her, but this was.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 05/03/2023 20:13

Just noticed that the skin has collapsed into the socket. Was beginning to think it wouldn't happen. But now it's obvious she's lost her eye. 😥

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 05/03/2023 20:45

Oh no, maybe her fur will cover it a bit? She’s still a beautiful girl.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/03/2023 21:14

Hope so. Her fur is very thick.
