Think there is a problem with her right eye. (Not the one she punctured a few years ago. It's been funky fir a while. (Not unusual) but now she really doesn't like it being cleaned at all. Back to the vet tomorrow. Sod's Law being what it is. Cheddar is having a scale at polish at my parents vet 25 miles away tomorrow!

Oh darling! Do hope she recovers well. It must feel so so strange for her

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 14/02/2023 17:35

The poor love.

My fluffball had an eye out between Christmas and New Year. Suspected fight related. Thankfully he chose a day that was not a bank holiday so we "only" paid normal costs. He quickly got back on form and is roaming around and hunting again. Delightful.

TokyoSushi · 14/02/2023 17:38

Oh Snorg, sending get well wishes

Toddlerteaplease · 14/02/2023 17:41

@OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea this was normal costs and has still cost £1000! She almost lost the other eye a few years ago after a veto out of character fight.

Wishing her a speedy recovery and hugs to you Toddler and squishes to the girls x

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 14/02/2023 17:53

My goodness! Ours was £650 in total. Was a simple removal though with no abscess. The vet did start talking about grafts and all sorts to save the eye which I very quickly declined!

Toddlerteaplease · 14/02/2023 18:21

My vet mentioned a graft. And it was a flat no from
Me. I've looked after children who've had them and it's hourly eyedrops for weeks. I didn't even want to try managing it conservatively. I just wanted her out of pain.

Oh angel!
Did they shave off her whiskers?

Toddlerteaplease · 14/02/2023 19:00

Yes on that side. She's just shoved Cheddar out of the way to get to the cat soup. Not sure if it was because she couldn't see her bowl. Or because she wanted Cheddar's!

Probably figures she’s allowed double given the day she’s had

Toddlerteaplease · 14/02/2023 19:35

She's finally gone to sleep. She doesn't seem bothered by the lack of an eye. Or the car. Think the lack of whiskers is bothering her though.

Aw, poor baby. Good she’s eating!

Our cat had an ulcer on her eye years ago and we opted for the graft on the vets advice. My friend was the vet so trusted her completely. Hard at the time but it did save her eye thankfully.

Keep her claws well groomed to save any further damage to her other eye. Hope she has a speedy recovery.

Defiantlynot41 · 14/02/2023 19:50

Aww love and kisses to poor Snorg. And to you Toddler, that can't have been an easy decision

Toddlerteaplease · 14/02/2023 20:32

@CountryMusicHottie she managed to puncture that eye a few years ago. Silly girl had a fight with a cat in the garden. It was a miracle that it healed so well.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/02/2023 20:34

@Defiantlynot41 once I realised how much pain she was in, I just wanted it out. I thought she was going to be diagnosed with glaucoma, as she fitted all the symptoms for that as well. And had already decided that if it was that, then they eye would be removed. I was gutted as she had beautiful eyes.

Just tried the cold compress and she was remarkably compliant!!!!!

Oh bless Flowers

I had one many years ago who lost an eye and it barely affected him, so all fingers crossed for Snorg.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/02/2023 21:20

She seems pretty much back to normal. Made me realise just how out of sits she's been.

Oh bless her, she's a proper little soldier.

Florissant · 15/02/2023 07:48

I'm relieved to hear that Snorg is recovering so well and so quickly.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/02/2023 08:35

Thank you. I really appreciate all the well wishes for her on here. It's nice to know she's loved. Todays challenge was to get her to take her Metacam. Anyone who has ever tried to find and open the mouth of a very fluffy, flat faced cat will feel my pain. There is absolutely nothing to hold onto to open her mouth. But she took it after a protest!

Good girl taking it.
