Trying to avoid thinking about Monday too much, and coping. Had a major wibble about it all a couple of days ago but under control for now.

Spoiling him rotten today & tomorrow.

He's already had a Webbox stick, half an Encore Tuna loin fillet (Girlcat had the other half), and a Lik e Lix today! Bought his favorite sliced roast topside of beef at Asda, we will share that tomorrow probably. Not sure whether to give him tinned tuna or cat soup for supper tonight - have only enough soup for 1 meal. I've also got in "normal" wet cat food so Girlcat can go on her diet next week, so may try that tonight instead & the soup tomorrow night. I've also topped up the dry with their normal Royal Canin Indoor rather than the renal, as he slightly prefers that.

Apart from going to the opticians this morning, the entire weekend is dedicated to being the best slave I can be

TheShellBeach · 04/02/2023 17:01

Allergic, this is such a sad time for you.
I'm so sorry.
I think most of us on this thread understand and empathize.

Defiantlynot41 · 04/02/2023 17:16

Thinking of you and Boycat Allergic. Hope you have a weekend full of cuddles

Allergictoironing · 04/02/2023 17:45

You people on here have been fabulous, helping me to get through this so far. In a way I think it would be easier if there had been an accident or something quick, rather than watching him deteriorate over the last 3 months or so & always wondering whether it's time yet. I was second guessing myself last week, but I know that was just the selfish side of me not wanting to lose him - the time is definitely right. At least I've been able to plan for it (female vet as he's terrified of men, DSis able to book time to take me, able to get time off work), and feed him all the banned unhealthy food for a couple of days beforehand.

And sorry if I'm going on about it too much, but it's the all consuming thought in my life at the moment. 😢

Papergirl1968 · 04/02/2023 17:54

Nothing to apologise for, Allergic. Your heart is breaking, but you're giving Boycat a lovely last weekend.
We are all going through this with you, and will be with you every step of the way, supporting, listening, thinking of you.
Sending love and hugs x 💔

LostCats · 04/02/2023 18:45

Allergic, I am so sorry you are going through this.

HouseofHolbein · 04/02/2023 19:48

@Allergictoironing I know I'm not alone in thinking of you and Boycat every day 💕 and I will be with you in spirit on Monday 💕

Supersimkin2 · 04/02/2023 23:05

🤚 and 🐾 hold from me love.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/02/2023 05:32

Just to re-echo what everyone else has said Allergic and another offer of a hand/paw hold. Not a problem sharing here, I suspect we have all been through this too.
I know its stating the obvious, but keep a very close eye on Girlcat over the next few months. Being bonded she's likely to struggle with the change too. 💐

Thanks all. Yes Grumpy, after tomorrow she will be my priority.

I do think I will need to bring another cat home and quite soon, as he is literally her brother (litter mates) so she has been with him all her life and has never been without a pair, Plus being an indoor only cat, with a slave who goes out to the office at least 3 days a week, I do think she will need the company. But I will be very fussy about who I get, as her needs are top priority over my desire to fill the Boycat shaped hole there will be in my life.

Boycat again did his leaping onto my leg to wake me up at stupid o'clock this morning, and we have spent over 2 hours off & on snuggled up on the bed until the need for tea drove me downstairs. There's another Tuna loin for later, a whole packet of Lik e Lix available, their favorite flavours of cat soup for supper, and a small pack of sliced cooked beef for him & me to share on the sofa at some stage. Only thing I need to do today apart from indulge him is put a desparately overdue clothes was on.

Supersimkin2 · 05/02/2023 10:23

Very heaven, Allergic. He’s having Perfect Day.

I did that with Mr C - we loved it. Enjoy. I really mean that - enjoy each other, have a spot of fun. Light hearted is hard for you but not for him.

I’m so sorry Darling. Give Boycat a kiss from us lot, his loyal fans. Plant a massive smacker on Girlcat too.

LostCats · 05/02/2023 10:51

@Allergictoironing you are in my thoughts all the way from the US...you have given Boycat a perfectly fabulous life whilst in your careFlowers

JoanOgden · 05/02/2023 22:17

Lots of love to you and Boycat, Allergic. The anticipation must be awful for you but of course Boycat isn't worrying about anything, he just knows he is warm, well fed and well loved.

TheLongRider · 05/02/2023 23:43

Thinking of you and your cats. 💐

nettie434 · 05/02/2023 23:59

Sending you support wishes (can't find the right word - sounds like something to do with tights) to you, Allergic, Boycat and Girlcat.

coastergirl · 06/02/2023 11:42

Thinking of you Allergic

Allergictoironing · 07/02/2023 08:38

Well he's gone. Both DSis & the vet were fantastic, we spent ages before just talking about him and stroking him, and I got the feeling he thought it was time too as I've never seen him so calm and relaxed with other people around. He was snuggled up against me when the injection went in and I think he was content at that moment - he went VERY quickly. Vet said I could stay in that room with him until the next appointment which wasn't for 2 hours, but Boycat wasn't there any more it was just a dead body.

Girlcat has been OK so far, she did seem surprised he wasn't around when I got back, and strangely spent about an hour last night in the crate. But otherwise not noticed anything yet, though expect that to change over the next few days.

I'm sort of OK, I'm fine unless I talk about it, like now typing here I'm crying (costing me a fortune in decent tissues). But it's going to take me a while to get used to things like him demanding his cuddles before I get up or at night, and only 1 cat stalking into the room.

Supersimkin2 · 07/02/2023 09:04

❤️- you hero. You’ve taken him through the last act of love after giving him
a fantastic life full of joy.

LostCats · 07/02/2023 09:10

I was thinking about you and him all or yesterday Allergic.
We are all here whenever you want to talk about him.* *
Super is right. You are a hero. You did the very best for him in his life and gave him the greatest gift at the end.
Much love.

Supersimkin2 · 07/02/2023 09:11

Now look after yourself, that’s an order. Eat something. Give Girlcat a hug and too many treats and stay in bed.

May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, dearest Boycat. He’s at peace now.
