Don't know what to do for the best

My teeny weeny tiny little white cat is unwell. She came to me from the RSPCA full of giardia, practically yellow with both her eyes semi closed and they didn't tell me she was from a feral colony.
She's 18 months now and this morning at the vets she was weighing 2.5kg Sad she still has baby teeth, some of which need to come out. Vet also wants to do full bloods etc. She looks so unwell. I don't know what to do for the best for her. My insurance doesn't cover dental work.
For now she's had antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and she's not in any pain. She's my baby, and I feel like I'm failing her

Stuffed full of roast chicken, tired out from bouncing around the garden. Can't put into words the sheer joy it is to see her happier and healthier than she's ever been since I've had her. Worth every penny

She looks fab. I wonder if they do payment plans? Mine do.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 18/06/2018 21:45

Is he any closer to knowing what was behind it all?

Justonedayatatime11 · 18/06/2018 22:10

No, he still doesn't have a clue. He was genuinely gobsmacked Grin which was nice as usually I turn into a gibbering wreck around him! They may fast scan her again next week to check on the enlarged lymph nodes, but he seemed happy. And confused!

I feel your pain. My cat is also from a feral colony and has always had coronovirus. I am not expecting her to live very much longer.
It's gutting. Luckily she was insured long before any symptoms showed and the insurance company can't prove she got it before the policty started or it would have cost me 3 grand by now.
Surely giardia can be cured with antibiotics according to the internet?

madcatladyforever · 18/06/2018 22:23

Also I know from experience that metronidazole treats giardia and dental infections so she should get better from both after a few courses as giardia often needs several courses of antibiotics.

Justonedayatatime11 · 19/06/2018 11:27

The giardia is gone now, all cleared up. She's looking pretty good this morning, the difference in her face and the quality of her fur is incredible, she's like a totally different cat, and now she's gaining some weight she really is beautiful!

Want2beme · 19/06/2018 14:53

She is looking good, isn't sheSmile

Justonedayatatime11 · 19/06/2018 18:25

And considerably more confident! Or as the vet put it yesterday, feisty!

She certainly looks it!

Have you been forgiven for the thermometer up the bum, yet?

reservoircats · 19/06/2018 19:13

This has made me so happy. She is beautiful, her little face! I'm sure she is so grateful to you Smile

Justonedayatatime11 · 19/06/2018 19:29

Not sure if I've been forgiven... she's been very cheeky though and it's lovely to see her personality coming out after so long! I still can't believe the change in her, it's amazing

Still gaining weight, purring like a (very loud) tractor, so much more affectionate and confident. I just can't get over the change, it's nothing short of a cat shaped miracle Smile

She is so very lovely.

Please keep on updating. Esp with pics. She is beautiful!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/06/2018 09:29

I'm so glad she's improved so much. I've been lurking on your thread and I wanted to say how gorgeous she is. As Time says, please keep updating and keep the pictures coming!

Justonedayatatime11 · 21/06/2018 09:37

Thank you Smile I know I'm repeating myself, but the difference in her is just incredible. She is so much more affectionate, and confident. You can clearly see she's more comfortable physically, before she always looked in pain, and never really just sprawled out. When I think how close I came to pts 2 weeks ago.... awful. Just hope she continues to improve!

What a little starSmile

Justonedayatatime11 · 21/06/2018 17:47

Seems to be having a not so good day. Spoken to (lovely) vet and he said hopefully it's just the heat. Fingers crossed he's right
