Don't know what to do for the best

My teeny weeny tiny little white cat is unwell. She came to me from the RSPCA full of giardia, practically yellow with both her eyes semi closed and they didn't tell me she was from a feral colony.
She's 18 months now and this morning at the vets she was weighing 2.5kg Sad she still has baby teeth, some of which need to come out. Vet also wants to do full bloods etc. She looks so unwell. I don't know what to do for the best for her. My insurance doesn't cover dental work.
For now she's had antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and she's not in any pain. She's my baby, and I feel like I'm failing her

Desperate for food is good. Good luck.

Justonedayatatime11 · 06/06/2018 21:02

She's hallucinating really badly Sad she seems convinced there's something in her bed, in the corner, under the table. She keeps hissing and growling at things that aren't there. I'm worried!

My cat had morphine and ketamine when she was ill with pancreatitis. She was completely stoned on it!

Justonedayatatime11 · 06/06/2018 21:35

Well, in the space of 4 hours she's had a pouch of cat soup, 2 pouches of Sheba (I know, I know, but she loves it), a webbox stick and is face down in a bowl of biscuits. She's certainly got an appetite... just worried she's so spaced out, it's like she's in a different world Sad

Poor lass. But that will be the drugs. Don't people take ketamine to get high? She'll fall back to earth soon enough, I'm sure.

Really glad to hear she's got an appetite. That is good news.

Please give her a stroke from me (and another Webbox!).

Justonedayatatime11 · 07/06/2018 09:33

Well she's demolished a bowlful of biscuits overnight. Another sachet of Sheba this morning and some ham. Was desperate to get outside and is currently sitting in the sun playing with a blade of grass Hmm. Back to the vets later to check her temp has come down (was 41.3 when I collected her last night) but she seems perky so fingers crossed...

She's beautiful OP. I hope you get to the bottom of whatever's causing this.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 07/06/2018 20:23

Any update op?

Ski37 · 07/06/2018 20:49

OP just read this thread, she is lovely ... and so are you for all the time and care you are giving her. Fingers crossed for you both X

Justonedayatatime11 · 07/06/2018 21:18

Nothing yet. She's been pretty chirpy all day, and very naughty but now she seems to have tired herself out. I'm hoping maybe it's just down to all the palaver of yesterday. Vet did say she'd rush the biopsies through and hope to have the results tomorrow. I'm just totally clueless. Negative for FIV, FeLV, nothing found that would indicate FIP. No masses or tumours and when I questioned lymphoma the vet said it was highly unlikely in a cat so young. It just doesn't make sense

How is she this evening?

TimeIhadaNameChange · 08/06/2018 09:21

Good luck for today. Really hope you find the answer, but that it's nothing serious. x

Justonedayatatime11 · 08/06/2018 09:43

No words as to how devastated I am. She was very off this morning, rang vets and took her straight in. They're now saying enlarged lymph nodes could indicate FIP. She's not eating and temp still sky high. They've sent her home with steroids/antibiotics for the weekend, but it's a last attempt. In all likelihood she'll be pts either tomorrow or Monday. I'm beyond heartbroken

I am so very, very sorry. Truly. Hugs to you both. xxx

Dodie66 · 08/06/2018 10:46

Aw so sorry to hear this. You can console yourself thst you’ve done the best you can and you took her in when she needed some love and care. Hugs

Vinorosso74 · 08/06/2018 10:52

So sorry. I so hoped she'd turned a corner Flowers

Toddlerteaplease · 08/06/2018 11:55

Sorry to hear that. I also thought she'd turned the corner. Thanks

Justonedayatatime11 · 08/06/2018 19:56

Any suggestions for getting tablets into her? She needs an antibiotic and a steroid and she's not having any of it. I don't want to make her any more stressed

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 08/06/2018 20:33

I'm sorry she's so poorly. Have you got a pill giver? A drop of water in it before you put in the pill can help it wash down.
lickelix?
Tuna?
In butter or a smidge of cream?
Can it be crushed?

Justonedayatatime11 · 08/06/2018 20:41

Ooh, thanks Wolfie, that's reminded me that I got some freebie Sheba things that are like lik e liks. I'll give it a go

So sorry to hear about your poor pusscat. Thinking of you also.

Want2beme · 08/06/2018 20:53

So sorry Just that you're going through this. I hope she recovers and has a good weekend Flowers

rupertpenryswife · 08/06/2018 20:59

I'm rooting for snowy poor little puss! Don't feel like you have let her down you have given her a second chance and have provided all she needs. She is so sweet.

Justonedayatatime11 · 08/06/2018 21:05

She's eaten the antibiotic, I've crushed the steroid and mixed it with her food, hopefully she'll get some of it overnight. She's just asked to go out into the garden and wandered about a bit, now back in and purring like a train on my lap. I just don't understand how she can go from 100 to 0 so quickly and then perk up again

Don't know what to do for the best

Oh bless her.
We are old hands at pills. Old girl was on tramadol for arthritis and thyroid meds too. Every single day. We got very good at it!
