Don't know what to do for the best

My teeny weeny tiny little white cat is unwell. She came to me from the RSPCA full of giardia, practically yellow with both her eyes semi closed and they didn't tell me she was from a feral colony.
She's 18 months now and this morning at the vets she was weighing 2.5kg Sad she still has baby teeth, some of which need to come out. Vet also wants to do full bloods etc. She looks so unwell. I don't know what to do for the best for her. My insurance doesn't cover dental work.
For now she's had antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and she's not in any pain. She's my baby, and I feel like I'm failing her

Amazing!

Vinorosso74 · 04/07/2018 23:16

So pleased to hear!

Is Snow still keeping you on your toes?

Justonedayatatime11 · 11/07/2018 12:25

She's an absolute menace! Which is rather lovely to see! Intent on singlehandedly depleting Norfolk's butterfly population but she's so happy! And SO much more confident. Although she did try to rip my arm off when I tickled her tummy the other day!

Tee hee! Sounds like she's doing just grand! I do feel sorry for the butterflies, though. Is that what she and her hunting partner are eyeing up in the photo? They look a lethal combination!

Thanks!

So Snow is now off ALL medication and appears to be a happy healthy cat. Still a much better weight than she originally was, much more energetic and playful, far more confident. I don't know what went on for a while there, but I just consider myself lucky to still have her

Lovely update. She is a beautiful cat!

An update...
6 months on, Snow was snuffling and sniffly this morning, which was how this all started last time, so I made her an appointment with my (new vet). Haven't been anywhere near the previous ones after they told me she definitely had FIP and I should put her to sleep.
New vet took one look at her, opened her mouth and immediately diagnosed her with an autoimmune disease. Not FIP. She's home with some new steroids and antibiotics, and booked in for the first week of January to have ALL her teeth out. Poor baby. She'll be on a low dose steroid for the rest of her life, but the vet is fairly certain that removing all her teeth will give her a whole new lease of life.
It's such a relief. She's only a baby, and the sweetest little cat you could ever wish for, even though she's scared of her own shadow. I'm just so relieved I didn't listen to the original vet and have her pts!

Thank goodness, you have really done your best for her. I have a sickly 16 year old cat also, she costs me £150-£200 a month in vets treatment which is really hard work but when you love them you'll do everything in your power.
I find shopping around vets really helps as the fees vary hugely and my current vet will take installments if there is a really costly month.
Hopefully having her teeth removed will do the job.

Have just seen and read your whole thread - hope your little one is ok. FIP scare with one of my own boys but thankfully came to nothing. You go through utter hell every minute they are sick and I'm so glad you trusted your instincts and fought for her. She's an absolute darling. You know your cat best!
