Don't know what to do for the best

My teeny weeny tiny little white cat is unwell. She came to me from the RSPCA full of giardia, practically yellow with both her eyes semi closed and they didn't tell me she was from a feral colony.
She's 18 months now and this morning at the vets she was weighing 2.5kg Sad she still has baby teeth, some of which need to come out. Vet also wants to do full bloods etc. She looks so unwell. I don't know what to do for the best for her. My insurance doesn't cover dental work.
For now she's had antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and she's not in any pain. She's my baby, and I feel like I'm failing her

Hope it goes well. Am sure you'll keep us posted.

Claws and paws crossed, snow is so very cute and lucky o have an owner fighting her corner.

Justonedayatatime11 · 16/06/2018 11:09

A very broke owner, my vet bill currently stands just short of £1000 Sad will be worth it though if she continues to thrive. Much as I like my vet, he was very keen to say it was FIP, and given that there were no signs of FIP found, that worries me slightly.

Eeeek at that bill!

Are there any other vets nearby who could give a second opinion?

Gibraltarlady · 16/06/2018 16:49

I lot my lovely kitty to fip last year, the way your cat is, it’s no way it can be fip.

Justonedayatatime11 · 16/06/2018 17:19

That was going to be my question at some point... has anyone got experience of a cat who DOES/DID have FIP?

OP posts:
thecatneuterer · 16/06/2018 19:19

I've seen a lot of cats with wet FIP. Death is very quick in those cases. I haven't much experience of dry FIP though. I'm guessing it's dry that the vet suspects?

Justonedayatatime11 · 16/06/2018 20:28

It was tcn but she's been x rayed and had an ultrasound and they found no masses or fluid, nothing to indicate FIP

Back to the vets tomorrow. I'm nervous. She's so so much better, even looking at her face she looks so much healthier, it's almost unbelievable. I'm scared of what they'll say

Good luck today. Fingers and claws crossed for you here.

Please don't be scared. x

Vinorosso74 · 18/06/2018 09:23

TimeIhadaNameChange · 18/06/2018 10:29

So.....? What's the outcome?

TimeIhadaNameChange · 18/06/2018 10:33

(Or was that just in reaction to how well she's doing today???)

Justonedayatatime11 · 18/06/2018 10:49

2.93kg! Up from 2.5. Temp normal for first time in a month. Vet was flabbergasted to say the least. Continuing with steroids for now but he was absolutely gobsmacked at the improvement. I am so happy!

That's fantastic news. I'd bring the terrible torties but they shouldn't be allowed out in public! Blush
