What makes your cat happy?

Here, in no particular order, it's :

A very tall scratching pole
8 meals a day
A boiling hot, sunny conservatory
A dab of butter on the paw
A busy birdtable
NOT going to the cattery anymore
A spot of milk on the nose
A flat immobile lap
A clean latrine

So true, Ski! Thanks for joining us on the happy cat thread. We buy toys, yet they're often 5 minute wonders, and the money better given to a cat welfare charity. Bits of string, cardboard boxes, ping pong balls, an old dressing gown belt, screwed up paper, whatever - they all seem to do the trick.

shesnaps that's exactly how is it here too! Suscat mostly tolerates me for food and offers spurious cupboard love, but ADORES her dad.

Although today I decided to do yoga in the garden and she thought that meant she could sit on my chest.

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 19/06/2018 23:34

A bit of cupboard love favouritism going on here recently too, sus and shesnaps. I usually feed ML and get most of the cuddles and affection. One of the DCs took over feeding duty for one day only, and it seemed like ML instantly transferred his allegiances, albeit temporarily. It really made the DC laugh, and now he sings 'cupboard love' whenever he sees ML curled up on my lap. I like to think it's a bit more than that, but maybe it's not....

Today's happipuss is....

Sniffing my hand thoroughly and for a very, very, very long time, and seemingly considering whether or not to bite it.

Having to be a one cat household these days, yet being a bit of a crazy cat lady by nature, I take every opportunity for contact with other cats, whether with friends' cats, cat-sitting for friends and neighbours, or helping stray cats. ML has to be kept as a solo indoor/garden cat, and does not like other cats at all, so doesn't have any direct contact with them. Obviously he knows when I've stroked another cat, hence the furious hand-sniffing.

He hasn't bitten me yet. I think he knows which side his bread is buttered and won't bite the hand that feeds and protects him. But he definitely thinks about it!

Cuddles. Same shit, different day Grin

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 20/06/2018 12:57

A heartwarming photo from Olli as ever. Photo's of your cat doing something that makes them equally happy are always welcome on the thread.😻

Today's happipuss is....

Galloping (there it is again) around the house madly after a running DC, who has an extra long shoelace tied to their waistband trailing behind. Just bonkers!

Here is Misty enjoying some snuggles with me this morning

So content and floofy, Purple!

Oh nearly forgot. The other day I was in my daughter's room using her full length mirror to take a selfie of me in a new skirt. He comes in and jumps in a box I'd put on her bed, demanding a selfie that included him!

What makes your cat happy?
PurpleKittyKnitting · 20/06/2018 19:30

Minileopard - yes, purring away! I love unprompted snuggles when he's not after any food!

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 20/06/2018 19:35

Being photobombed by your cat, honestly!

Typical cat, happy in a box and being admired.

PurpleKittyKnitting · 20/06/2018 19:39

He's a nosy sod! My daughter is at uni but we think that he treats her room as his most of the time! So if we go in there he wants to know what we're up to!

Clandestino · 20/06/2018 19:56

DH away so plenty of space in my bed for both. They have a complicated relationship, very love/hate.
Mice, birds, rats, bunnies.
Sun and garden to sleep in.
Food.
Double cream.
Ham
VALERIAN TEA!! junkies here
Cuddles
More cuddles

Shockers · 20/06/2018 20:01

People (mostly me)
Food
Surveying his kingdom
Watching me on my rower

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 20/06/2018 20:04

I wonder what he thinks when you're on your rower, Shockers?!

OP posts:
Mablethorpe · 20/06/2018 20:46

Laying on laptop/phone/iPad and disrupting communication with the outside world.

Sleeping in the long grass in the garden.

Jumping onto the bench with the kids at dinner time.

Waiting for us on the wall when we’ve been out in the car. I swear he knows the sound of our engine. Then he bounds over like a dog!

Walking along the keys of the piano when the cover has been left open.

Saying hello to the children playing outside at the nursery behind our school.Smile

Shockers · 20/06/2018 21:20

I don’t know mini. It’s a water rower and he hates water. I often wonder whether the water being contained gives him a sense of power Grin.

He’s there for every session though.

IGiorni · 20/06/2018 21:26

Boy cat:
Rubbing his face on everything
Head butting me repeatedly a million times a day
Socks
Drinking water from the fish tank filter

Girl cat:
Cuddles
Knocking things over
Sitting on the landing windowsill miaowing at the neighbour’s cat who’s sat on their landing windowsill

What makes your cat happy?
PurpleKittyKnitting · 20/06/2018 22:01

Ooo gorgeous cats IGiorni!

TerfsUp · 20/06/2018 22:16

TerfCat:

Sleeping
Eating
Singing me the song of his people
Harrumphing at me

howrudeforme · 20/06/2018 22:18

Saying her name over and over again.

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 20/06/2018 23:32

I hadn't heard of cat Valerian tea addicts before, Cland, although a friend's cat acted very strangely indeed with a free teabag from a gardening magazine, so maybe that was it! And oh dear - bunnies. Another friend's cat used to bring them in all the time, mostly alive. She used to have to try to catch one on many a morning before work to get it out of the cottage. Oh the joys of cat ownership, (them owning us, of course).

I now have a funny image in my head of Shockers on her rowing machine with her cat on her lap, head or shoulder enjoying the ride and acting as coxswain.

OP posts:
MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 20/06/2018 23:44

I wonder if he also knows what time to expect you home, Mable?! Dogs certainly seem to.

OP posts:
MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 20/06/2018 23:49

Just wondering, IGiorno, what Boy Cat does with socks?! Also the nature of Girl Cat's conversation - just a chat, an argument, or a Romeo and Juliet situation?!
