What makes your cat happy?

Here, in no particular order, it's :

A very tall scratching pole
8 meals a day
A boiling hot, sunny conservatory
A dab of butter on the paw
A busy birdtable
NOT going to the cattery anymore
A spot of milk on the nose
A flat immobile lap
A clean latrine

Mini my cat Snowy can sing much better than me. 🎶🎵🎶

rikmayallismyhero · 12/06/2018 00:47

Aw what a lovely thread!

Mine likes:

Sharing some of my pizza - she even likes vegan cheese!
Spooning with me after she's had her breakfast
Talking to me, constantly
Shouting at the birds outside the window
Killing everything that moves

And its her seventh birthday next week :)

LuxuryTime · 12/06/2018 00:51

My cat is at his absolute happiest when he gets onto our bed at night.

If we stay up too late he starts crying and pacing around, then he runs up the stairs and watches us brush our teeth.

He sits in the doorway while we get in bed and once he judges us to be settled he jumps up doing “PowerPurr” and is all lovey dovey for the next half hour Grin

PurpleKittyKnitting · 12/06/2018 06:21

Toothtrauma, my cat once made me get up early on a Sunday morning to watch him eat his breakfast! We use a timer dish and he was pestering me to get up, so I thought something had gone wrong with that.

Nope, straight to the dish and he just ate!

PurpleKittyKnitting · 12/06/2018 06:25

LuxuryTime, we get power purrs at bed time as well. He is quite particular and has a bit of a routine with my OH. He'll head butt to get some petting and they do that for a bit before he settles. Sometimes he won't start until the duvet between us is smoothed out!

KittyLover91 · 12/06/2018 08:29

Hahaha Ive just re-read that!

Astrid2 · 12/06/2018 08:35

Aw my cat makes us come downstairs for breakfast just to watch her eat. It's just precious... Hmm

My cat loves

  • Bernard Mathews turkey ham
  • grated cheddar cheese sprinkled on her biscuits
  • being brushed
  • hiding behind a single blade of grass in stealth mode
  • chasing the water from the watering can while we water the plants and getting soaked!!
  • bring us dead mice and birds
  • yowling at seagulls
MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 12/06/2018 12:55

Today's happipuss is...

Inexplicably stalking the recycling!

Baffling to his humans. Is there a mouse in there?! A spider?! A moth?!

No, it's a free sample size packet of Dreamies I'd obviously missed in an empty box of foils and thrown out into the cardboard pile!

Exit one very happy Mini Leopard, galloping off with said Dreamies packet in his mouth, determined no one will take them from him!

Empty packet later found in shreds, with very satisfied (and a little smug) ML having a lazy wash nearby.

Yes, what is it about cats that makes them think we can't see them, Astrid?! Like your blade of grass, ML thinks we can't see him if he can't see us - if he's 'hiding' with his head in a box, for example, he doesn't seem to remember there's all the rest of him sticking out. And I'd say he's a bright cat otherwise!

And ham - ML has a particular noise he seems to reserve for the excitement of ham.

On the seagull (sea)front - after a few years of rebuilding after rescue, ML is pretty big and fearless, and as an ex prolific hunter given the chance would probably attempt to take down a bison, (only half joking). Except for seagulls. He watches them through the window and, al

(Posted too soon)...although he tries to hide it well, I think he is a little bit frightened!

Wondering if there's any of Kitty's kitten left this morning?!

Beaverhausen · 13/06/2018 10:26

Being able to rub her furry butt all over my face and boop me with her wet nose demanding kisses on the mouth.

Gourmet with the gravy she does not like others

Dreamies

Her feather toys

Being able to walk wherever she wants without me making a fuss

Terrorising her little sister

The dog

Watching the birds outside

Being the little queen of the house

Knowing I love her the most.

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 13/06/2018 11:46

A happy birthday for next week to rik's cat 🍕 and wishing to swap Frog's cat for ML, who doesn't sing so much as shout, and it's the most torturous sound you can imagine. It's in the genes - we think he thinks he's still calling across the jungle.🙉

Yes Beaver, they know they are the Kings and Queens of the home. They just know it.

Beaverhausen · 13/06/2018 18:26

Well my baby is not happy with me I had her neutered today and she actually growled at me :(

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 13/06/2018 20:31

Oh dear, Beaver. I hope she recovers well. Tell her it's for her own good! Having said that, you might want to work your way down her happipuss list to get back in her good books and stop the growling!

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 15/06/2018 12:36

Today's happipuss is...

Galloping. Just that: galloping. You know, the full of yourself tail up galloping run around the home or garden? That one. For no discernable reason known to his humans.

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 15/06/2018 23:28

Tonight's happipuss is....

Thanks to the power of Mumsnet: Lick-e-lix! I'd never heard of it until a few people mentioned it on here. ML tried it for the first time tonight, (Salmon), and has gone slightly crazy over it, so thanks The Litter Tray Lovelies profusely. 😻

PurpleKittyKnitting · 16/06/2018 18:27

Misty is happy tonight as it's fish night! We get a bag of frozen cod pieces and they take a few minutes to microwave. It was a big bit tonight!

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 17/06/2018 00:14

Oh that's nice, Purple. Friday is usually cod or haddock night here, much to ML's delight.

Today's happipuss is...

Vet's Kitchen Little Hearts Triple Treats. We had to leave ML home alone today for about 9 hours, (of the injustice!), but a few of these seem to have helped him to forgive us!

OP posts:
MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 17/06/2018 00:16

Oh the injustice, not of, sorry!

Ollie is just just happy with his mama. All he wants is ribbon, food and mama to supply endless hugs/kisses/head boops and brushes Hmm

Candyflip · 17/06/2018 01:10

DH, she pines when he is away (frequently) and stops eating. It is so sad. But when he is home all is good, they love each other deeply.

NT53NJT · 17/06/2018 01:13

For my cat it is the following ;

Being a dickhead
Being a dickhead
Being a dickhead
And
Being a dickhead

Here is my Misty

PurpleKittyKnitting · 17/06/2018 08:41

Lovely Ollivander! Is that shaved paws I see? Misty hates it when that happens, he seems to wash the shaved areas lots as if that will encourage quicker growth!
