The litter tray

What makes your cat happy?

Here, in no particular order, it's :

A very tall scratching pole
8 meals a day
A boiling hot, sunny conservatory
A dab of butter on the paw
A busy birdtable
NOT going to the cattery anymore
A spot of milk on the nose
A flat immobile lap
A clean latrine

Using dogs for entertainment seems to be a recurring happipuss theme Out , whether willing participants or not! And your attacking toes reminded me that we've got a pyjama legs attacker - the flapping of the material as someone walks past seems to be irresistible. And Sue's staring for hours at a corner in the garden - here it's Toad Watch, because a large one lives there.

Today's happipuss is...sniffing sand.

We all rinse the sand off our feet in an inch of water in the bath when we come in from a barefoot walk on the beach. Lots of sand is left in the bottom of the bath after the plug has been pulled out and the water has drained away. Enter Mini Leopard, who then jumps in the bath and spends a long time sniffing the sand. It must smell very interesting.

We have to keep this thread going! The Bunz also loves chicken, but it has to be boiled (which we do for chicken enchiladas) and then he appreciates a small teaspoon of vanilla ice cream.
Sticking his nose in my ear when he wants a 4am meal
Playing with an old shoe lace in the garden
Sitting in the upstairs bedroom window and surveying his Kingdom
A shoulder and neck massage which he indicates he wants by planting himself between my feet

The things that make my cats happy are:-
Sybil
climbing up my back, sitting on my shoulder and falling asleep while purring VERY loudly.
Sitting on the dining room table during mealtimes waiting to be invited to have a titbit.
Random strokes when she's lying anywhere - she purrs on impact Grin
Hiding in boxes

Basil
Biting fingers (viciously) - but only in bed in the morning
Catnip toys
Laps
Rodents

The kittens
Each other
Scrunched up shredded wheat papers
Fighting
Chasing Basil's tail
Laps
Pacing on my bollocks
Stealing lettuce from the salad I thought I'd secured yesterday evening.

My cat loves lots of things others have mentioned.

He plays fetch with drinking straws and bits of tin foil

Loves to hide in his cube or tunnel and jump out at you and frighten the life out of you

One of his favourite spots to curl up is an upturned laundry lid

Loves being groomed. We recently got a pair of grooming mitts. Massive hit. He's nearly at the stage with them that he will jump up in you when he sees you with them in. When he sees the brush he is up immediately

Sorry, he loves to lick and chomp plastic. Nothing is safe!

We have a plastic (bag) licker too, Purple, but it is only when he wants to be fed (yet again) or he wants a door opening, and everyone is ignoring him. Attention seeker!

We've had to store crisp packets in a cupboard so he can't make jokes in them and ruin the contents. Carrier bags get licked and holes in them, the A4 things for paper, those posting packages. I often have to add a bit of tape on them before I post stuff off!

My OH has always been his favourite and he has no shame in that. My OH is regularly supervised for baths, loo trips etc. Once, I was having a bath. After about 10 mins, OH apologised, needed the loo. Misty the cat instantly squawked to be let in. As soon as he saw me, looked at me with disgust and squawked to be let out again!

Sorry for all the mistakes!

No need to apologise for mistakes on this thread Purple! It's an entirely friendly, all welcome, relaxed sort of thread! Anyway the jokes made me laugh, so thanks!

I was imagining what his jokes left in the crisp packets were, and could only come up with a dead mouse or a poo!

Good aftermeown all. Today's happipuss is...

An egg box with eggshells inside!

No idea how or when the guilty purrty took it, but there's bits of green cardboard and eggshell all around the place. Not sure where it's all gone. He can't have eaten the cardboard, surely?

Cardboard boxes
Rolling on grass that is long enough to have a sort of massagey effect
Ham
Tuna
Warm roast chicken - like a pp, it has to be warm Hmm
Sleeping on a duvet that’s been folded in half
Watching me in the shower
Watching the neighbours from the shed roof
Pawtrolling her kingdom on the fence
Snoozing in the sunshine

Reading that back, life mostly revolves around food and sleep. Oh to be a cat Grin

Much as I wouldn't swap Mini Leopard, I'm quite jealous of Grumpy's Sybil. He hasn't mastered keeping his (larger, longer, stronger and sharper than average) claws in to do any back climbing and shoulder sitting, unfortunately. And his purr is so quiet you have to put your ear to him usually to hear it. He definitely does purr though, because you can feel the vibrations. There's nothing quite like a ready, happy purr.

On the other hand, the finger-biting Basil, and the kitten-trampling of gentleman parts, doesn't sound so good! And lettuce really, Grumpy? That's a new one on me.

Frog paints a happy image of the housework. I'd like to be a fly on the wall for that, unless they both can't sing!

I'm not sure MiniLeopard has a favourite like Purple's cat. Maybe it's me, as I tend to feed him and change the litter tray. He also definitely sees me as the 'safe base' to run to. I think though that he just has different relationships with different members of the family, rather than having a favourite.
