Evening all, this is a new thread all about gorgeous Heidi, following on from the thread started by Gatekeeper.

We answered her thread call to give this tiny kitty a new home and we drove from Devon to Durham and back in 24hours to do so...

Now Heidi is settling well at our place after being looked after perfectly by Gatekeeper, and this thread is all about the new life of a very little and brave cat with the bushiest tale known to catkind!

If anyone can link to the original thread it would be much appreciated :)

Thanks all for your kind words again Thanks

Heidi is sat on the stairs at the mo, sleeping peacefully. We are all tiptoeing round her so as not to disturb her. Hopefully she will join me on the bed soon.

Pleased it went well StewPots. You are a braver woman than me, you put Heidi's needs before your own and have most definitely done the right thing. Wishing Heidi a speedy recovery, then you can all move on from this and just enjoy having her aroundThanks

overnightangel · 12/02/2018 23:23

@StewPots you’ve no reason to feel bad you’ve done the right thing and have only ever had Heidi’s best interests at heart, she’s so lucky to have you, hope she recovers ok and please stop beating yourself up you’re amazing Smile

Gatekeeper · 14/02/2018 20:07

Hope Heidi is feeling better after her op and that you are as well Stew. Heidi is not much more than a kitten herself so you def did the right thing. I can understand you changing vets...I wouldn't have confidence in them anymore

Give the Little Miss an 'extry' big kiss from her Auntie Gate xxx

Hi everyone,

Well Heidi had her post op check yesterday, all fine and healing well, but I think her hormones are playing her up bless her.

She's been following us all around non stop, only napping at night on the bed with DH and I, meowing and mewling so I've taken to wrapping her up in a blanket and keeping her cuddled in my arms or lap. Honestly it's like the newborn stage as I'm trying to do most things one handed. DD has taken over cat duties for a while though.

Called the vet this morning and she said that's pretty usual, she did chew my face yesterday but it wasn't aggressive, it just felt like...I dunno. Obviously I moved her away immediately to stop her (wasn't done hard, she was purring and rubbing away when she did it but it still hurt!) but vet said this all normal for now but if she hasn't settled in a week, bring her back in.

I feel so bad for her because as far as her body is concerned she's given birth. I've tried putting a few little soft toys in a nest for her but she wasn't interested, she just wants us. Poor thing.

Imagine what may well have happened if she hadn't made her home with you.
She had warmth and love and food. She's a lucky girl. Be kind to yourself too. This will be taking its toll on you.

StewPots · 15/02/2018 14:24

Thanks @gussyfinknottle Thanks

I'm going into town soon and am picking up some Feliway but obviously a load of treats for her also. Some food and toys, snacks etc. I know after I'd had my op not long ago that's all I wanted even though my tummy hurt - treats!

StewPots you are a brilliant cat mum and Heidi is very lucky to have you.
Looking forward to seeing a new pic when she's recovered from her op.

EachandEveryone · 15/02/2018 15:09

Aw I’m so glad it all went well. You totally made the right decision. Sainsbury’s have a new sweetie range. Is she on painkillers?

StewPots · 15/02/2018 15:22

Thank you @notwonderwoman and @EachandEveryone yes she is but had her last dose today. She's moving around fine and eating and drinking well so all normal in that sense. Just hope she settles down soon, vet reckons a week.

Linked here through the classics thread and had to follow and comment on the fabulous thing you did and how wonderful you are to be looking after Heidi. Whatever has and will happen you did an amazing thing Flowers

Gatekeeper · 19/02/2018 12:23

how is she now @StewPots? I keep thinking of you carrying her around all wrapped up in a blanket and I feel a bit teary Sad

we all need a photo of her to cheer us up Smile

thecatneuterer · 19/02/2018 14:40

I'm glad she's doing OK. She is so lucky that you took her on.

StewPots · 19/02/2018 15:01

Hi all :) well Heidi has kept me on my toes all week following her op. She hasn't been napping much and has become very clingy towards me (a lot more than before), follwing me round mewing constantly and basically staying on my head or between DH and I when in bed Confusedunder the covers! But she wasn't sleeping though and every time I moved or coughed I'd get a miaow and pounced on for loves.

However she is starting to settle more as time goes on now. I've just got in from work and she legged it downstairs and pretty much clawed her way up me for a cuddle Grin But she seems a lot more chilled.

We got her lots of new toys but most of the time she's not interested, unless it's me playing with her. She still loves Dreamies off everyone though!

Here's a picture of her last night asleep...she's doing a lot of catching up sleep wise now.

Oh just look at her, I can't believe she's being demandingWinkGrin
Bless her, what a lucky cat to have such an understanding owner.

StewPots · 19/02/2018 19:37

Haha @BluebellTheDonkey yes she is sooo demanding! Grin

I'm not ashamed to say that she must be the most spoilt and pampered cat ever. Even my DM said today she's like a proper little princess and gets everything she wants Grinwhich is mainly continuous strokes, cuddles and Dreamies obviously!

BluebellTheDonkey · 19/02/2018 19:40

Well of course, she has her human slave properly trainedGrin

cozietoesie · 20/02/2018 00:28

Well done, Stew. Hard times for you all and you've come through it OK. You did the right thing.

StewPots · 01/03/2018 21:15

Evening all, just thought you'd like a quick picture of Heidi venturing out into the snow today - our first serious snowfall where I live in decades!!

She went out then back in, then back out, then back in etc etc and enjoyed digging in it (do cats even do that??) before returning to the warm indoors we'd had enough of being frozen and dragged everyone in.
