Evening all, this is a new thread all about gorgeous Heidi, following on from the thread started by Gatekeeper.

We answered her thread call to give this tiny kitty a new home and we drove from Devon to Durham and back in 24hours to do so...

Now Heidi is settling well at our place after being looked after perfectly by Gatekeeper, and this thread is all about the new life of a very little and brave cat with the bushiest tale known to catkind!

If anyone can link to the original thread it would be much appreciated :)

Oh well done. Good luck to both you and Heidi.

BluebellTheDonkey · 09/02/2018 22:24

Good luck @StewPots I will be thinking of you and Heidi, you are doing the right thing by her as you have done all along.

StewPots · 09/02/2018 22:30

Evening all, sorry for late reply just winding down from an awfully busy and very sad 12 hr shift...up at 6 to do it all again!! Sad

Thank you for your kind words, yes I know it is absolutely the right thing to do for both Heidi and ourselves, and also to not have the prospect of more cats unwanted and unloved in shelters.

It still makes me sad though. I think I will change vets after Monday, I just feel very let down by them, It should not have come to this.

Heidi is sat on the bed for snuggles at the mo. She comes into the bathroom and sits under the sink next to the shower every night and waits for me, then when I get out I sit on the bed in my towel and she comes and purrs and "boops" me..: strange little soul but I love her so much.

StewPots · 12/02/2018 14:34

Thanks all :) for your very kind words as always.

Haven't heard back yet but I know there was a poor dog in there this morning called Nash who has cancer in his leg and is having it removed so no doubt they are very busy, poor chap. Lovely lurcher and lovely owner.

I've been on a rearranging / decluttering / decorating mission with DH this morning to keep busy whilst we wait, we both have a week off so good time to do it.

Vinorosso74 · 12/02/2018 17:44

Hope all has gone well for Heidi (and Nash)

StewPots · 12/02/2018 18:25

Hi all,

We got back home at 4.30 with poor Heidi. She's feeling very sorry for herself and sporting the cone of shame. She's also very disorientated so I'm trying to keep her in our room for now where it's warm and quiet.

Poor old Nash - his op went well (overheard the vets talking to each other) so hopefully he recovers well, dear chap.

Heidi has been snuggled up with me - her op was done through the middle so what's the best way to hold her? I've just had her laid into the crook of my arm, she seems comfy like this but is it ok?

OP posts:
gussyfinknottle · 12/02/2018 19:07

Thanks for the update. Guessing she will work out what's comfy for her . The cone of shame should stop her messing with her stitches.
Glad to hear she's on the other side of it. Well done, you.

overnightangel · 12/02/2018 19:23

Hi StewPots not been on this thread for a while, so sorry to hear of all the stress you’ve been through.
Absolutely no need to feel guilty, you’re amazing, if I die and get reincarnated as - cat I’m heading straight to your house 😊
Hope Heidi is ok x

StewPots · 12/02/2018 19:29

Thanks everyone :)

Heidi has just managed a little scrap of dinner, I'm hoping once we are all in bed she settles in her usual spot at the end of the bed by our feet.

She's been sitting in a typical "folded" position on the stairs too so I guess she's happy like that. Saying that, i don't really call it folded, I call it "chicken mode" as cat's body shape remind me of chickens in the supermarket. Thought that since I was little GrinI'm very strange

LanguidLobster · 12/02/2018 19:44

Actually you did promise adventures in your title, so you're living up to it!

Hope she heals well and a lot of the stress is off

overnightangel · 12/02/2018 20:02

I’m sorry but I’m a little confused having read the thread, we’re the kittens aborted I’m sorry to use blunt language I just feel like I’m being tho k. Sorry.
Stewpots all you’ve ever done is had Heidi’s best interests at heart , and you’ve been an amazing mum to her , you were meant for each other x

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/02/2018 20:05

Yes, kittens aborted.

StewPots · 12/02/2018 20:08

@overnightangel yes sadly they were. It broke my heart but weighing it up it was the best all round. I'm very sad about it though because....well, I've never intentionally or unintentionally harmed an animal yet today../

But with her murmur, and the fact that there was no way I could keep a bunch of kittens or take care of them, and that there are so many shelters full to bursting already...it just had to be done. Urrrgh. I feel absolutely awful.

OP posts:
StewPots · 12/02/2018 20:16

So many what ifs. Including what if she didn't have the murmur and she could have had the op done that day? What if it hadn't been Xmas and we would have had results sooner? What if that window hadn't been left open?

But what's done is done and I feel awful.

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 12/02/2018 20:18

I wouldn't give it too much head space, there's no kitten shortage.

gussyfinknottle · 12/02/2018 20:20

You've done absolutely the right thing. You're actually quite heroic.

Vinorosso74 · 12/02/2018 20:37

So please she's home and recovering. It's all done so Heidi can enjoy her new life properly now.

mogloveseggs · 12/02/2018 20:40

Totally agree with gussy. Completely the right thing to do and very brave of you to be able to do it. Flowers for you and some dreamies for Heidi.
