Come one, come all, what's your cat up to today?

Mine are pleased that I'm home in time for the end of Pointless. Unfortunately they hate Pointless and would rather sit outside in the rain glowering in at me.

I love mumsnet - post photos of the cats doing catty things and get all sorts of comments about rugs, lava lamps and the fact that I still had a dead Christmas tree outside in April - shamed into taking it to the dump! .

Today Luna has been sitting on my laptop at any given opportunity. Twat cat.

None of us are sleeping well in this heat.

Cats are up all night trying to find a cool spot
I am tooooo hot and waking through the night
Bump seems to feel the same and likes to squirm about all night too!

4am today they all conflated though and was woken by cats who, having squeezed under the duvet, were gently pawing at said bump!

Here's my very battered looking stray on the right, giving kisses to my girl on the left. I'm slowly gaining his trust and will hopefully get him to the vet for neutering and a checkup soon. In the meantime, the vet's given me liquid antibiotics and a painkiller for him, which seem to be doing the trick. He's a lovely lad but isn't immune to giving me a slap if I push it too far.

I have just come home to both cats with collars snapped off, utter devastation in the kitchen and a large bluebottle buzzing around on the ceiling. To be fair I do get how the bluebottle could be seen as taunting them a bit, but for ffs it was nice and tidy this morning!!

GreyCat and another friend. It was a game of cat tag. Black and white boy waited for GreyCat to finish his washing, chirruped at him then went and tapped him gently on the arse and expected to be chased.

I get steal a hug in exchange for treats.

Cat excelled herself this morning, I was due to set off on a long walk at crazy o'clock am but she managed to nip out of a 3 inch window gap and get stuck 10 feet up. She could have jumped to be frank but did her best Penelope Pitstop impression 'halp! Poor little me!' So we just had to wait until 7am when the builders got in next door and got her down with their ladder.

Cat gets all the fun and hunky builders.

The cul de sac has turned into a teenage cat hangout after 10pm. There's about 6 cats plus LongGirlCat who watches their antics with disdain.

The boy cats (all neutered) play chase each other, hide in the long grass and mug each other, then flop in a driveway and have a washing session. You'll see black and white mog persued by GreyCat dashing into one garden only for the roles to be reversed as they exit over another garden fence.

It's great fun.

Our cats are currently having a stand off with the local teenage foxes

They're about 12 inches long or so and a pretty metallic bronze / gold in good light.
I get quite a few in my garden, but I think they're quite rare and certainly protected.
I rescued it, but it had a little puncture, so hope it survives

I was asked for an Ernie update as have been a bit lax due to having to work pfft

Anyway today Ernie has been very naughty..he went out through the blinds, hiding in the poppies stalking something. Though we think him too stupid to actually catch anything.. I was in the kitchen when I heard the blinds jangle and thought there is no way he managed to get back in but he did....along with a bird.

Cue me slightly panicking...the bird flitting into the hall and behind a shoe box...Ern got to it first and I ended up holding him outside, and trying to get the bird off him..Luckily he dropped the bird and I'm amazed it flew straight off, as there did seem to be a fair bit of blood There is s tiny spot of blood on the carpet and his paws are red.

I always though the birds round here were safe as he isnt too bright. Recently he has managed to get himself stuck on next doors garage Dad had to rescue.He was attempting to get out of the bedroom window last night but I think the slope on the roof is phazing him at the moment.

Our garden flooded on Thursday and his toilet was under two inches of water and the little stream opened up..he was not impressed, though the skanky get did drink from it
