Snorgmaiden has been admitted to the emergency vets with a high temperature, conjunctivitis, and enlarged stomach and enlarged lymph nodes. Thought something was t right last night but not overly worried. Slightly worried this morning but thought I was being neurotic. Took one look at her when I got home from work and straight to the emergency vets. Hopefully an infection but worst case may be lymphoma. She's having loads of tests Tonight and they will ring me later. Need my hand holding you lovely lot. Sad

Or maybe it's a hostile takeover? "Snorg's disappeared, the human is now mine, all mine" , evil cackle...

Toddlerteaplease · 19/02/2017 09:53

Yes it probably is. She's had a sniff at her. Snorg has staggered upstairs and is hiding in the spare room, which is unusual. But she seems much brighter. Turned her self round and was very affectionate on the way home. She's struggling to walk with both paws bandaged and sliding on the laminate floor.

Poor girl, laminate is difficult enough at the the best of times!

Toddlerteaplease · 19/02/2017 11:04

She's hiding under the sofa bed in the spare room. Is that normal? She's moving around as she sounds like a heard of elephants. She tried to eat some dreemies but couldn't seeem to pick them up properly so wondering if the lump in her mouth is sore.

Some cats do hide if they've been away from home. Has she eaten anything? Maybe something soft?

Toddlerteaplease · 19/02/2017 12:14

She really tried to eat dreemies but has ignored lik e lix. Left her a little bowl of cat soup. But if she was syringe fed not long before she was picked up she's probably not hungry.

I gave her a good brushing and she was putting and enjoying it. Surprised to see that her coat is shiny.

A good dose of TLC will benefit you both. Smile

RubbishMantra · 19/02/2017 14:30

The drugs will have left her feeling a bit spaced out, so therefore vulnerable maybe? Poor little lass, she must feel most discombobulated. This might sound mad, but Little M likes soothing music, even if it's me singing to him. Blush Especially "Asleep" by The Smiths.

Cat soup brilliant idea. It'll get liquids and some victuals into her. Adding warm boiled water to it makes it even more liquidy and tempting. I even have a Speshul Device that's like a cross between a spoon and knife to chop the pieces into mush. A fork would do the job though.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/02/2017 14:35

I'm trying to have a nap before my night shift so will put an audiobook on. She likes those. Not feeling as happy about her than I did when I first saw her at the vets this morning.

They put on a good show at the vets though.

RubbishMantra · 19/02/2017 14:51

Snorgs will appreciate that. Have a good and restful nap, you need your rest.

Weedsnseeds1 · 19/02/2017 15:35

Hiding sounds normal, after all she has been betrayed and placed in a detention centre ( in her eyes), even if it was for her own good! Does she like chicken or fish as a treat? Take her to bed with you for a snuggle ( and hope her sister doesn't get too jealous and start plotting against the pair of you)....

Weedsnseeds1 · 19/02/2017 15:38

P.S. mine always sounds like a herd of elephants upstairs, unless he's stealthily sneaking a mouse in to play with. When he launches himself at the sofa he can slide it backwards on the laminate with two people sitting on it Confused

Toddlerteaplease · 19/02/2017 15:54

She doesn't like chicken or fish only dreemies and lik e lix but she's not touched the lik e lix. Couldn't sleep because I'm so worried about her. Though I'm trying to be rational and think it's because she's had such a traumatic time. Will try and have a cuddle before heading back to the vets.

Her sister has been the most amazing comfort. And won't leave my side.

Well she has been poked and prodded and drugged, she's bound to be out of sorts, on top of being so I'll. Being home for a bit will have given her a boost, I'm sure, even if it's not so obvious to look at her. Is there any further news on the lump in her mouth as that could be making her scared to eat?

Toddlerteaplease · 19/02/2017 17:39

She's just been returned to the vet. Although I was really worried about her hiding. She reacted completely normally for her to being cuddled and put in the basket. Tried to escape both! Bright and alert still. She's a bit dehydrated as not drank anything. Going to collect her at 12pm tomorrow and keep her till 8am Tuesday. Will syringe feed her if needed. Also said I was happy to give her her IV antibiotics as I'm a nurse and totally used to it. Though it would be very surreal!

The lab opens tomorrow and will take a couple of days to get the results. Hoping that they can get on and get it out quickly.

RubbishMantra · 19/02/2017 17:40

She may have had resorption of one of her teeth causing the lump, esp. as she wasn't treated too well before she came to you. Is it possible her current illness has weakened her immune system, and it's flared up?

MCat lost quite a percentage of his body weight before his dental. There were other factors involved at the time though. Shaking the head from side to side whilst eating is one of the signs of dental/mouth pain.

Wishing you and your girl strength.

isadorable · 19/02/2017 17:48

Must've been nice to have her home for a bit though i can totally imagine it is stressful all round. Sending positive thoughts. Good you can manage a drip etc. Hoping next week sees some good, positive progress for you.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/02/2017 18:22

Rubbish, the vet said that one of her teeth was missing and what you said may have happened. One of them had a dental at the rescue but the owner couldn't remember which, so presumably it's her. Am overwhelmed by the support on this thread. It's been a huge support. Thankyou all!

Her breathing is the best it's ever been! Do wonder if she had a respiratory infection as well.

I'm glad you got to spend the day with your Snorg, Toddler Smile. I agree with Weeds - I expect she was sulking. My old girl cat used to wedge herself behind the tumbledryer when she came back from a trip to the vets. She'd stay there for HOURS - the first time she did it I was terrified. I hope you get more progress next week.

isadorable · 19/02/2017 19:25

It is just so clear how much they mean to you from your posts in good times. it is a pleasure to see. I get it. My cats always mean the world to me too. So, though I don't have anything really useful to contribute, you have been in my thoughts.
