Snorgmaiden has been admitted to the emergency vets with a high temperature, conjunctivitis, and enlarged stomach and enlarged lymph nodes. Thought something was t right last night but not overly worried. Slightly worried this morning but thought I was being neurotic. Took one look at her when I got home from work and straight to the emergency vets. Hopefully an infection but worst case may be lymphoma. She's having loads of tests Tonight and they will ring me later. Need my hand holding you lovely lot. Sad

I've never had a cat with dental issues ( and counting my blessings, having seen some of the threads on here), but my Dad was a dentist, so can sympathise with the pain a pet can't tell you about.
I feel so invested in Snorgmaiden, being a relative newcomer here, Snorg, Fattycat, Ollie, Seniorboy, Leroy, hemanorsherah's big boy etc. are cats I feel I have got to know remotely and I follow their ups and downs as if I "know" them in real life. I want Snorg to get better as if she was one of my own.

I think that that heartfelt expression of sympathy will mean much to Toddler, Weeds.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/02/2017 20:51

Omg weeds that's so lovely I want to cry!

Ah flippin' 'eck Weeds, I've only just pulled myself together after tonights Call The Midwife. I wept gently pretty much the whole way through. I'm off again!

Snorg is so pretty and so floofy Smile.

Weedsnseeds1 · 19/02/2017 22:12

She's beautiful, toddler and I want her to get better so much. My current cat is the " one and only" , I have loved all of them, but if anything happened to this one my heart would break, he's the special one, so I can sympathise with how you feel. I know the rest of you feel the same about your precious cats. Didn't mean to upset anyone sorry, slightly jetlagged after 20 hours if flying and transfers, but come on Snorg, I'm willing you to rally and get better Smile

Weedsnseeds1 · 19/02/2017 22:20

Cuddling mine, he was so excited to see me after a week away ( despite being left with two live in cat sitters) that he was purring his head off and dribbling all down his ruff.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/02/2017 22:41

She's apparently taken up residence in her litter tray and has had to be given another one so she has one to pee in and one to sit in. Grin

Old girl did that. Seems to be something about a litter tray that is comforting when that are feeling low.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/02/2017 00:31

I took some of her own brand of litter in as I couldn't bare the thought of her using wood pellets on her sensitive little paws

Wonder if they'll let me bring one of her 3 baskets in. Fattycat only has one!

She's lovely

Toddlerteaplease · 20/02/2017 08:09

Still not eating but when I phoned the vet she was out being fussed by the nurses and sticking her bum in the air which she does when she's happy. So hopefully she's putting as well. Not convinced it's down to a sore mouth. I think she just doesn't feel like eating. If we have kids with pancreatitis they are on IV nutrition and nil by mouth for ages.

Vinorosso74 · 20/02/2017 08:15

Ok she's obviously feeling better then! When ours had pancreatitis the vets still wanted her to eat (she had cholangitis at the same time) so gave her appetite stimulants. I can't remember when she started on steroids but I think they need to be certain it is that.
Keep getting better Snorgmaiden! Vinocat is sending headbumps.

RubbishMantra · 20/02/2017 12:31

Thinking of you and Snorgs today Toddler.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/02/2017 12:59

Just picked her up. She seems quite bright and steadier on her feet although still wobbly. She's having an exploration of her lump tomorrow and a possible feeding tube. Watered down some cat soup and will see if she drinks any. Got done formula to syringe feed her with so hopefully she won't dehydrate.

Something caught her attention in the garden. She's very skinny!

Great news that she's venturing out and taking interest in her surroundings. And thank goodness she has such a caring guardian in you. Smile

I love how her sister is sitting in the corner, now she doesn't have you all to herself. All she needs is a Dunce hat.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/02/2017 13:32

That was when she first came out of the basket. She's now hiding in the spare room with three varieties of food, water and a litter tray. Not going to panic today! Will syringe feed her to make sure she gets some fluid in her as she has to be NBM. They've unbandaged her tail and it's wet and smelly!

OP posts:
Weedsnseeds1 · 20/02/2017 13:49

Good news that she seems more alert. Is that her sister studiously ignoring her in the background?

Toddlerteaplease · 20/02/2017 14:04

Yes. They had a sniff of each other's faces then Snorg hopped off upstairs and fatty retired in disgust to the back of the sofa. Must admit I am disappointed at fatty's lack of sisterly nursing skills. She's a wonderful nurse cat to me. But maybe she sees her role as helping her human through a horrible time. Which she certainly has done. Very suprised to discover she hardly eats and Snorg is a glutton (when well)

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 20/02/2017 14:05

Have they considered SQ fluids?

Toddlerteaplease · 20/02/2017 14:07

What's that cozie?

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 20/02/2017 14:14

Ah sub cut fluids. No one has mentioned that but she has a cannula so could have IV. I'm tempted to go to work and 'borrow' a couple of vials of saline but wouldn't want to risk sodium poisoning!

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 20/02/2017 14:24

I think you have to have fluids from the vet if that's under consideration. They're 'balanced' I think - basically what's in an IV.
