Snorgmaiden has been admitted to the emergency vets with a high temperature, conjunctivitis, and enlarged stomach and enlarged lymph nodes. Thought something was t right last night but not overly worried. Slightly worried this morning but thought I was being neurotic. Took one look at her when I got home from work and straight to the emergency vets. Hopefully an infection but worst case may be lymphoma. She's having loads of tests Tonight and they will ring me later. Need my hand holding you lovely lot. Sad

Good to hear she's improving. Poor you and poor her - how frightening! Did they find a blockage?

Toddlerteaplease · 16/02/2017 09:09

No blockage but poor blood flow to intestines and inflamed pancreas. Apparently she's very fat. Confused. I thought 4.8kg was ok for a cat. I think the poor blood flow to the intestines may have been because of the dehydration.

Depends on the breed and build of the cat. My mum's little cat would be grossly overweight at 4.8k, mine would be slightly portly. Some big breeds would be skinny at 4.8kg. It does sound heavy for a female Persian, I'm sure they'll give you some help with getting her weight down once she's recovered. So glad she's feeling better.

scaryteacher · 16/02/2017 10:06

Glad she's better. My small boy (in build) is about 5.8 kg, my bigger built boy is 5.3kg, and the get tells me he is skinny, but he eats and drinks plenty. He doesn't expend huge amounts of energy as he is normally sleeping.

DramaAlpaca · 16/02/2017 10:07

Hope she continues to improve.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/02/2017 11:22

Just taken some of her food in. They are going to try and get her to eat. (Good luck
With that) she won't eat at the vets. But is comfortable and settled. Which is good as last night she was in painZ

Lots of cuddles when she's home! Glad she's comfortable.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/02/2017 11:50

I swear I've aged about 50 years. That cat will be the death of me! But I luffa her. Had lovey cuddles with her this morning.

Lots of luck. When might she come home - or is that still uncertain at the moment?

Toddlerteaplease · 16/02/2017 13:45

Uncertain at the moment. The vet was talking about a feeding tube and a central line tonight when she comes on duty again. Depends if she eats. Im working the next few days so I'm not in a hurry to get her home as I want someone keeping an eye on her while she's unwell. Hopefully the vet will let me visit again tonight.

Her sister is all over me and seems a bit unsettled. Would it do her good to take her to see madam if the vets will allow it?

Hmm, not sure about that. I understand your thinking but I think it may stress both cats.

Vinorosso74 · 16/02/2017 17:32

Forgot to add I hope the recovery is going ok.

cozietoesie · 16/02/2017 17:49

I'd keep her sis there in the house she knows.

Weedsnseeds1 · 16/02/2017 18:10

So sorry to read this, fingers crossed for Snorg. Don't panic if she won't eat at the vet's, previous cat had surgery for a stuck furball, was kept at vet's for 2 days as wouldn't eat. I was advised to take her home ( sub-text - to die), the second we we home she bounced out of her carrier and rushed to her bowl, telling her head off
She had been a limp semi-corpse on a drip 30 minutes earlier. Current cat weighs more than that, but is a big boy. I always thought Persians were quite cobby and solid?

cozietoesie · 16/02/2017 18:41

I seem to recall, Weeds (happy to be corrected) that the sisters are rescues and just a little bit challenged, physically.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/02/2017 18:47

If she won't eat cat food try rotisserie chicken hot or cooked chicken livers.

Most cats go bonkers for either.

Weedsnseeds1 · 16/02/2017 18:57

I thought it was breathing that was the problem, being Persians, cozie, rather than stature? I know they are both used for breeding. I haven't had a Persian, I just always thought they were a stocky breed, but as I said, I am not familiar and maybe it's just all that fur that gave me that impression?

Weedsnseeds1 · 16/02/2017 18:58

Were, not areConfused

Autumnchill · 16/02/2017 19:09

Fingers crossed she is on the mend. I swear they do it just to test us!

cozietoesie · 16/02/2017 19:29

They certainly had difficulties there, Weeds, if I recall. Difficult one for me because I'm most intimately used to Siamese who are usually a rangy bunch. (The other cats have been muscled but didn't sleep with me.) I don't know is the answer - but I think they were in a 'farming' situation before rescue so may not have been in the greatest overall shape. (Sorry if true, Toddler.)

Weedsnseeds1 · 16/02/2017 19:35

I have always had moggies, but they have ranged from kitten sized to dog, with a few average sized as well, cozie. I've known a few Siamese and they slot in my mental sizing chart as "slinky"!

cozietoesie · 16/02/2017 20:17

Elegant, please! Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 16/02/2017 20:36

Just spent an hour at the vets attempting to cuddle her. (She hates being picked up) so I am somewhat reassured that she is trying to escape. She head butted me so hard that I almost fell off my stool and sat on my knee. Still has a high temperature and they don't know what's caused the inflammation because bloods are normal. She did mention that she felt something in her bowel and didn't think it was poo. I had a new bed delivered on Monday with loads of packaging. So am wondering if she's eaten some of it. We were very careful about the plastic etc because her sister loves the stuff. Would be unlike her to eat it. Not eating but i strongly suspect she won't eat at the vets. She didn't last time after an anaesthetic. Neither does her sister. Managed to syringe 15 ml of milk down her and she took it very well. So holding off on any more tubes for now. She's so doped up it's difficult to judge how she really is. She does have a cobby body,
