Snorgmaiden has been admitted to the emergency vets with a high temperature, conjunctivitis, and enlarged stomach and enlarged lymph nodes. Thought something was t right last night but not overly worried. Slightly worried this morning but thought I was being neurotic. Took one look at her when I got home from work and straight to the emergency vets. Hopefully an infection but worst case may be lymphoma. She's having loads of tests Tonight and they will ring me later. Need my hand holding you lovely lot. Sad

This is why I think it's better to carry a bit of weight, I don't and if I'm ill can drop 5lbs over a weekend.

At least she's got some body fat to draw on.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/02/2017 21:11

I strongly suspect she's being stubborn about eating!

Snorg very flat this morning as her temperature is 40.5 0c. Taken her to a veterinary hospital for continuing care. The vet found a dental abscess. But doesn't think that it is the cause of the problem. But explains her huge lymph node in her neck.

Is it likely that the dental abcess has caused full blown septicaemia which in turn has caused pancreatitis?

Oh Dear. Teeth are what I was primarily concerned about.

Will it be an op or ABs? (Or both.)

Toddlerteaplease · 17/02/2017 10:11

She's already had antibiotics. But I've consented her for a dental if they think it's required. Consented for anything with in reason. Hopefully just she'll perk up if they can get her temperature down.

Poor girl. Abscesses can hurt like anything as well - especially before they burst.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/02/2017 11:29

Yes we get children in at work with them quite often and they feel dreadful and have raging temperatures with them until the have the drained.

Just spoke to the vet who isn't convinced it is an abcess but they are more concerned with trying to sort her pancreas out at the minute. Temperature has come down though. And breathing rate within normal limits.

Fingers still crossed.

RubbishMantra · 17/02/2017 15:00

Oh gosh Toddler. How awful for you and Snorgmaiden. She has to be OK, it wouldn't be fair otherwise.

isadorable · 17/02/2017 15:25

Keep strong. This must be horrible and exhausting. Got a cat here crossing his tail she'll come through OK.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/02/2017 16:41

Just phoned again. Temperature has stayed down without anymore drugs. She's sitting on her chest and looking around. Not eaten but they are offering chicken which she won't eat but allowing them to syringe formula. Advised them just to feed her her normal biscuits. Going to see her after work.

I hope she's going to be OK, problem is the just won't eat at the vet's, which doesn't help.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/02/2017 21:41

She's still critically ill but seems more awake and no longer stoned. Had a lovely cuddle with her and she is much more a aware of her surroundings. I really think she's being stubborn about eating. She's proving a mystery as all her bloods are normal except her white cell count. Even the pancreas bloods are normal. Weird. The cells in the lump in her mouth are very abnormal but they are not cancer. But no idea what they are. Possibly something to do with her salivary gland.

Poor wee lass. Sad

Has she drunk anything or are they giving her fluids?

Toddlerteaplease · 17/02/2017 22:13

She's on IV fluids. I suspect that she is refusing to eat because she's at the vets. She's talking syringe feeds well though. I suspect she'll eat at hoe on Sunday.

cozietoesie · 17/02/2017 22:21

Do they still think she has something in her bowel?

Vinorosso74 · 17/02/2017 22:28

Poor girl. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

isadorable · 18/02/2017 00:00

Poor baby. Hope she gets better soon.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/02/2017 06:54

She's brighter this morning according to the nurse. Has eaten (hand fed) and used the litter tray twice. Instead of weeing where she was lying. Feel much happier.

What's there treatment plan?

iloveeverykindofcat · 18/02/2017 07:30

No wise words to add but everything crossed for her x

Toddlerteaplease · 18/02/2017 07:34

Plan is to take her home during the day and back to the vets at night, for IV fluids. No other plan than that at the minute. The lump
In her mouth and neck needs investigating.. but she is too poorly for a GA
