Actually, I've just realised we might be sneaking an extra dog into our Park Dean lodge next month. We have a dog-friendly lodge that accepts up to 3 dogs, but in the past, when we've asked, they have allowed us to bring as many as 8 dogs when we had mum, dad, and a litter of 6 puppies.
We've paid for one dog because we were only bringing one dog. However, a couple of people have now dropped out, so there is room between the three lodges we've booked for my sister and her family to come without having to pay for their own lodge, as they cannot afford it. They have a dog they can't afford to kennel.
I haven't added it to my booking because we don't know my sister is coming yet, it is just a possibility. We don't know if she is bringing the dog if she does come, because some of her children might not be coming, and they will mind the dog. If she does come and bring the dog, she might not be staying all week. Plus, my mum has a dog-friendly lodge and has paid for one dog who is now not coming, so the dog might stay there if it does come. Otoh, my dad hates that dog and is saying no to it staying with them, so I've said if need be, it can stay with us in our lodge.
I'm not spending an extra £90 on the off chance a tiny chihuahua possibly turns up. Plus, the way I see it, we've paid for one dog, the average Lab, i.e one average dog, weighs 25kg. Ours weigh 6kg (freakishly large chihuahua) and 4kg; therefore, we technically have less than half a dog staying with us.
