Where does your dog sleep

Interested in hearing where your dog sleeps and if they sleep in your room / bed where do they go when you go on holiday.

OP posts:
Bookaholic73 · 25/11/2025 21:31

Mine sleep in my bed.
When I’m on holiday my son or other family member looks after them.

Errolwasahero · 25/11/2025 21:35

Ours have a bed in our bedroom; they used to have their own couch but now they have separate beds. On holiday we take old duvets that they have at home for them to sleep on. Seeing the state of their beds I have never had them in mine!

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 25/11/2025 21:36

My dog sleeps on her dog bed in front of my bed and the fire.

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/11/2025 21:36

In my bed or in their bed on the floor generally. We take them with us when we go away. If I go abroad I’ll home board them.

TwooooDoooozenRoses · 25/11/2025 21:39

Two indoor dogs and two working dogs. Working dogs have either a heated kennel or the boot room in the house, one indoor dog has a crate downstairs in the utility room and the other sleeps in our bedroom, supposedly on his own bed but sneaks onto the foot on ours in the night very often!
They stay put when we go away, the daughter of our nearest neighbour looks after them for us..: and makes the most of a quiet house and Prime/Disney/Netflix 😂

21ZIGGY · 25/11/2025 22:05

My dog sleeps where he wants which is usually the couch, then his bed in the living room, then he finds his way up to bed with me at some point around 5am

He goes to kennels when im away

Do you mind if I ask how many hours she does per day?

Does she stay late at night?

I have a dog sitter helping out this Christmas sir is doing 5 hours a day and pets alone at night

I just hope they will be ok

MrsLizzieDarcy · 25/11/2025 22:15

Ours have always slept in the kitchen but our older dog (12) lost his hearing quite suddenly and now is prone to barking if he can't see me. So he now sleeps on our bed, our other dog will wander between her bed and ours. Can't say I'm that thrilled but I value sleep above all else.

They come on holiday with us, never leave them.

CryMyEyesViolet · 25/11/2025 22:17

Crate in the kitchen, or on the sofa if she doesn’t fancy going to bed at the same time as us. There’s no door on the crate so she can come and go.

TeenLifeMum · 25/11/2025 22:21

Previous dog was on our bed because when he was 2 I was sad and dh didn’t have the heart to stop my dog cuddles. I think he was just grateful something was helping (wasn’t dh’s fault I was sad). Current dog has only just turned 1 and still has bed cuddles then goes into her crate happily at the foot of our bed. I’d happily have her on the bed but dh is holding off for now.

we have a lovely family friend who has ddog when we go on holiday and she sleeps in her crate, but could go on friend’s bed if that’s what she did at home.

wtf. No. They’re not cats.

GreenFrogYellow · 25/11/2025 22:25

In answer to original question ours has a crate, at the moment across the landing in the spare room but has been in our room / downstairs and when on holiday we take the same crate and he sleeps usually in our room or another part of the holiday let within earshot in the crate. Crate large enough for him to stand / turnaround in, has water in etc. he takes himself to his crate now

SunnyViper · 25/11/2025 22:27

Kitchen. He’s not allowed in any of the bedrooms. When on holiday, he either goes to a friend or local kennels.

Nourishinghandcream · 25/11/2025 22:27

One sleeps on his bed in the corner of our bedroom while the other sleeps on (and occasionally in) our bed.

On holiday they both sleep on our bed (we have a Moho).😁

GCAcademic · 25/11/2025 22:29

I can conclude this thread for you, OP. We look after several dogs when their humans are away. Without exception, when we go to bed, they follow us onto it, which leads me to conclude that most dogs sleep on the bed.

mondaytosunday · 25/11/2025 22:31

On my bed! But when puppies and being trained they slept downstairs in the kitchen in a crate. When on holiday if I have pet/house sitters I think still on my bed. If they come with me then in whatever bed I’m in!

Arran2024 · 25/11/2025 22:31

Money lie on the floor on the ground floor of the house. I have tried giving them beds but they are not interested. They are bernese mountain dogs and seem to prefer the coolness of the floor. One used to sleep in our room as he had separation anxiety but that became a huge problem when his legs started to fail. He is old now and I am sleeping downstairs on the sofa bed because he can't get upstairs.

devildeepbluesea · 25/11/2025 22:35

In bed with me. I’m single, but DSis and I dogsit for each other. Dogs when with me both sleep with me. Dogs when with her sleep…with her - DBIL is relegated to the spare room.

I prefer knowing he’s ok and being close by if he needs the loo or similar (rare but it has happened). DSis must feel the same.

I sort of dread meeting someone. I could never not sleep with my dog pal.

daffodilandtulip · 25/11/2025 22:37

Surgically attached to me, like the rest of the damn time 🙃
When we go abroad, she goes to the dog walker (as in, lives with them for a week, doesn't just have a walk!) but I quite like walking type holidays where she can come along.

DonewhatIcando · 25/11/2025 22:40

A 2nd hand Next To Me Crib pushed up against our bed
She used to sleep our the bed but she moves around too much.
In her crib she hopefully feels close to us but not close enough to disturb us, it's working out well

DonewhatIcando · 25/11/2025 22:43

Forgot to add, I pay my neice to dog sit here when we're away

Blimey that’s such a good idea (and super cute)…

PluckyChancer · 25/11/2025 22:47

Our large dog sleeps on his own sofa or in his dog bed in the sunroom. He’s not allowed upstairs and it’s taken the cats about 4 years to accept him. The cats sleep where they want to but mainly on the beds upstairs.

When we go away, the dog goes into kennels and we have someone pop in to feed the cats once a day.

vodkaredbullgirl · 25/11/2025 22:48

Both on my bed when in not working nights, on my dds bed when I'm not there.

zobalina77 · 25/11/2025 22:48

On my bed. Old dog used to sleep at the foot of the bed but new dog has no sense of personal space and lies as close as possible to me or on me. We are thinking of sending him to the same kennels as old dog went to, as he loved it. But he's starting doggy daycare soon and she does boarding too, so I may change my mind if he loves daycare. Uk holiday, he'll come with us.
