I've found a puppy in a plastic bag

During a walk with my lab. It's looks like a poodle cross and go actually be in good condition.

I've called the vets and taking then in later. My next door neighbour has a microchip scanned and it's not chipped. No collar. Doesn't look to be in poor condition though.

Apart from the vets, what do I do?

I've fallen in love already!

As I say, I hope this is a fake post and I also hope fervently some posters here NEVER find someone elses straying, stolen, dumped dog and simply decide to keep it based on outdated ideas and misery-monger bullshit!

This! These people are so selfish and don't think about the dog and its feelings or owner's feelings at all. Dogs bond with their owners and miss them.

The whole "omg why doesn't this happen to me" - nonsense shows what kind of people they are. Not people who care about animals but people who want a free puppy, not caring about the puppy's needs but about themselves getting what they want. It disgusts me. It is not kindness towards and animal but cruelty to not look for its home first. Dogs bond with their owners and it's an incredibly strong bond. What an awful thing to do to an animal.

Chill. I also said 'why does this never happen to me' in a jokey way, assuming it had been dumped. As a dog owner I'm fully aware how dogs bond. I can also afford a puppy, thanks..

Surely the sensible thing is to check there is no owner, but there are lots of puppies in rescues at the moment with various disabilities that have been dumped and it's highly likely that this applies here too.

And anyway, what four month poodle cross stays on a plastic bag.

@suzettenoisette so if you died and your pets were taken in and well cared for by someone else you don’t think they could then be happy? Now ridiculously self centred of you. The alternative to my cat being alive and well elsewhere is that he simple died, I know which I would prefer as a caring owner.

No, the alternative would have been them looking for you, the owner, and you looking for your pet and being reunited.

That is a possibility too, you know? You can help an animal without stealing it.

Death is completely different as there is no other option. Most animals actually suffer terribly when their owner dies and in most cases this doesn't happen because animals have a shorter life span. Just keeping an animal means you are causing him to suffer without reason as the owner is still alive.

I don’t understand why this thread is still standing. It’s obviously totally fake. Animals are a great subject for goady threads because the idiots that post them know that it’s going to rile people up.

Yet you still get the “ooh, lucky you, enjoy your new pet” cheerleaders.

I didn’t post that I wished it happened to me, but I have been known to make jokey comments like that.

Not because I seriously want a new pet - the chances are if I found a random puppy it’d not fit with our current set up anyway.

But - I was an animal obsessed child and read a lot of books, I was set up to expect a finding and being able to keep animals was going to be a regular feature of my adult life 😐🤣

Nobody found it. It was a fake post.

Poor baby. A good few years ago we found a puppy tied to a tree. It was brought home and kept along with 2 kitties. Lovely lovely dog. 6 weeks old.

I'm assuming so. OP posted twice I think but no photo of puppy, no update etc.
