@HollyJollypup sorry if this sounds dim but are they edible? Should I reduce meal size if she's eating one of these a day?

Yes they are edible ☺️ They are not very big so I personally don’t reduce meal sizes.
My Pup also doesn’t eat a whole one in one go. I let her eat/chew it til she goes off and finds something else that occupies her and I then remove it and put it in the window until the next day/evening to try and keep it interesting.
Basically so it’s not constantly available to her. I also rotate it with a whimzee or the pigs ear she seems to also love now she’s a bit older.

HollyJollypup · 13/10/2022 11:13

Thanks for the ideas.

I currently have these, a kong and a snuffle mat but she does the blue puzzle thing in about a minute now so I need to find something a bit more challenging😂

I will take a look in TK Max.

@MrsWhites what level of cover have you gone for? The value, regular or complete? Could you also pm me the referral code?

DarkBlueEyes · 13/10/2022 16:52

Hi everyone, just wondering how toilet training is going? DBE pup went out of her own accord yesterday to do a wee (squeezed through the sliding doors I had thought I'd closed!). But then did a wee inside, swiftly followed by a ring on the puppy bell and a wee outside!

Today she's been ringing the bell like crazy to get treats - but did a poo and a wee inside as I'd taken my eye off the ball a bit. Unfortunately one of my Ukrainian guests stepped in it....

I suppose that's progress?

Another question I'd like to ask is about recall. up until now she's recalled really well each time she's been off the lead, but today in the woods was going absolutely batshit crazy, would come back to me, but not take her treat and not let me grab her. At the car park I had to ask some people to grab her as she went up to them for a cuddle. Is this all normal?

Can you tell I've never had a dog before? lol!

Rowgtfc72 · 13/10/2022 17:33

Diesel isn't 8 weeks till sun but 5 days in we're having less indoor accidents. He does a crazy bum shuffle when he needs to poo so he's been whisked outside when he does this. We've also learnt he'll pee but not poo till 10 mins later. He whined at the door for the first time today as well.

Sleeping is a different issue. He won't go in the crate and sleeps on us. Whines when he's put back in. We are all sleep deprived- apart from the puppy!
His crate is in a playpen. The playpen is shut but the crate open. Tomorrow night I think we're shutting the crate and letting him cry for a bit.
Any tips? What works? We need sleep!

MrsWhites · 13/10/2022 18:12

We went for the regular which is £7k worth of cover a year I think. Some people suggested the complete with £15k a year but I can’t really afford £30 odd pound a month on top of the complete care plan from the vet.

I’ll PM you it now x

Riverlee · 13/10/2022 18:49

River Pup seems to have done a lot of wees inside today - usually we have one accident at most.

We went for the top cover. Need to sort the complete care.

MrsWhites · 13/10/2022 19:50

We’ve had loads of wee accidents inside today too but I think it’s because DD decided he needed more water and fed him a whole bowl from her hand!

HollyJollypup · 14/10/2022 08:44

We are at the point where we are having no accidents indoors now and haven’t for a week or so.

She’s using her doorbell pretty much all the time now. I think I had the indoor doorbell a bit to high so Iv moved it lower down and ever since Iv done that she uses it every time.

Anyone else’s pup play ‘let’s push the toy/chew/etc under the sofa’ game?

Rowgtfc72 · 14/10/2022 09:44

We did lose a ball under the sofa and wondered why he was savaging it!
My floor looks like a pet shop explosion but it means as soon as he sinks his bitey little teeth into something he shouldn't it's replaced with something at hand.
Tonight he sleeps in his crate with the door closed for the first time. We need sleep and as noones at work in the morning he can howl. At least kipping on the sofa with him this week I've learnt his routine. He likes a wee at one, a wee and a poo at 4 followed by half hour chewing then back to sleep till breakfast at 6.

Aria20 · 14/10/2022 09:45

@Riverlee yes mine still does this and then woofs at me and looks at the sofa so I know she's lost something under there! She also hides things like half a goats ear under cushions!

MrsWhites · 14/10/2022 10:13

Is anyone else’s pup having runny poo? We’ve j had them on and off since he arrived but this morning was a massive liquid one in my living room 🤢

Riverlee · 14/10/2022 11:30

@Aria20 Mine will lie down and paw/scrape at the sofa frantically trying to get it back.

@MrsWhites Not runny, but he poos have got a lot softer. Not sure whether he’s drinking more water than before, or it’s due to the grass, fuchsias, leaves and another other plant he eats.

My pup can actually go under the sofa 😂

Mines only had liquid poo once and it was when I gave her some raw egg on her kibble.

Have you changed your pups food since picking her up?

Sunflowers765 · 14/10/2022 12:25

Can I join? Getting DPup on Tuesday! We've got a long drive home (5 hours). Wish me luck! Also I've had experience of an angel pup and a screaming devil pup so really hoping for an angel one this time as the screamer nearly broke me. At least this time I'm prepared for puppy blues. A bit anxious really 😧😧 Any reassurance very welcome!

MrsWhites · 14/10/2022 12:52

Yes we have changed it this week because he had very soft poos and wasn’t eating the food from the breeder, he won’t even take it as a treat anymore. We’ve been doing 25% new food with old food. His poo wasn’t the best even before the change though, the vet wasn’t concerned, she thought it was just stress after leaving his mum and litter mates. Hopefully it will fix itself as he settles in.

We’ve got to do the flea and worm tablets in the morning, my friend suggested hiding the tablets inside a little block of cheese so we are going th try that.

Rowgtfc72 · 14/10/2022 14:07

@Sunflowers765 we drove our pup 1hr and 45 home last Saturday. Slept the whole way home.

Anyone else's pup get hiccups? Think ours eats too quick!

Riverlee · 14/10/2022 14:52

Yes,our pup has had several bouts of hiccups.

Toooldtoworry · 14/10/2022 15:00

Ours still gets the odd hiccup bought when he's hungry or just eaten at nearly 6 months.

Sending good vibes for a angel pup. 🐶

HollyJollypup · 14/10/2022 16:58

I think my pup is having me on today. Up and down with her bloody door bell and wanting to come in 10 seconds later 😂

MrsWhites · 14/10/2022 17:31

@Rowgtfc72 yes he gets hiccups and they come one after the other really fast, not much of a break between hics if you see what I mean!
