Thanks for the new fred.🐕

SirChenjins
I’d ask why he panics when I go to another room and shut the door behind me - he can clearly hear me pottering around in there, so why the whining and scratching at the door? 🤷‍♀️

He strongly suspects you're in there scarfing sausages.

Autumn101 · 04/03/2022 10:30

I would love mine to talk, I would explain to him that unfortunately however much he tries the cat will never ever like him 😂

tizwozliz · 04/03/2022 10:39

Thanks for the new fred.🐕

@ABitBesotted - I hesitated starting as she's very much not a puppy anymore!

She's under the weather at the moment, off her food, stinky poos and quiet at home but lively enough out and about. It's one of the things I've found most difficult through puppyhood, dealing with minor illnesses and worrying whether watch and wait is the correct approach. I have some tummy buddy stuff arriving today.

@tizwozliz puppyhood is 3+ years, you're all good! Sorry your baby is off-colour. How about some chopped liver or scrambled egg to tempt his appetite?

I am envious of that majestic photograph. What a poser.Grin

Aria20 · 04/03/2022 11:14

Yey new thread! Day 2 post spay here and so far all ok. I got her a vest instead of cone and I'd definitely recommend it as she wouldn't move with the cone on just stood there wouldn't sit or lay down but she's comfortable with the vest. She's eating as normal and so far she's been very good not looking to go out or running about but I'm sure I have that to come!!

ABitBesotted · 04/03/2022 11:20

My dog is all blur and flying ears in her pics.Grin

Three months and three weeks. It's going too quickly.

How about some chopped liver or scrambled egg to tempt his appetite?

She had chicken and sweet potato for dinner last night, but she has always been a bit fussy so it's hard to know whether it's still illness or fussiness.

She is a poser though, try and get her to sit at your feet is difficult, ask her to sit on a tree stump, a log or a bench and she's straight there!

Glad to hear pup's surgery went ok @Aria20

Glad pup is ok @Aria20
@tizwozliz hope she's back on form soon.

FawkesPup is being a right asshat tonight. I think it's my tolerance too as I have had a long week and I can't be arsed with his play invitation wuffing and trying to get me to join in!! He's had 2hrs of walking so should be tired 🙄

Here he is, all 18.3kg of shetland pony cocker spaniel aged 9 months.

@GuyFawkesDay - I think it was you who mentioned the tummy buddy stuff. How did you administer it?

OP posts:
Aria20 · 04/03/2022 18:29

@GuyFawkesDay haha he's huge you sure he's not crossed with a Bernese mountain dog haha! Mine was weighed at vets this week and is 11.7kg lol by scales at home she was 13kg a month ago...I don't think she's lost weight so hopefully my scales are off and I'm actually a kg lighter myself!

SirChenjins · 04/03/2022 18:37

Thanks for this new thread @tizwozliz Smile

It’s probably true @ABitBesotted - and to be fair to him, I usually am. Either that or crisps.

Glad everything went well with the surgery @Aria20, you must be glad it’s all over Smile

GuyFawkesDay is that one two hour walk or a few walks equalling two hours? Just asking as sandwichpup continues to be a bit naughty! He has been scratching the carpet so assume he is bored, but still worried about over exercising him. DH and I are practicing his recall in a local field without too many distractions. He is ok ish until another dog, cyclist, runner comes past.....then no chance... DH took him to the park this afternoon but too many dogs around to let him off, so sad

certainshepherdpups · 04/03/2022 18:43

Yay, a new thread. Sorry your pup is poorly @tizwozliz. Hope she perks up soon.

It's great that recovery is going well @Aria20.

I was so proud of my pup. We went for a walk in one of our favourite places through fields and woods. He walked brilliantly on a loose lead despite all the distractions. That has been a bit of a struggle until now. He does well on pavements but he tends to lose his mind a bit in more interesting settings. But he was a superstar! I hope it wasn't a fluke.

Aria20 · 04/03/2022 18:57

@SirChenjins oh so cute and fluffy!!

LBF2020 · 04/03/2022 20:41

Hey all!
SPup will be 9 months old next week and has turned in to a heckin teenager.
Every. Single. Blade of grass MUST be peed on and when the peeing is happening no single thing on earth will distract him. He is still jumping up at me/strangers/friends/enemies given the smallest chance. We are working on it though.
At his last weigh in he was 24kg and I haven't weighed him since as I'm not sure I can cope with what the scales say.
He loves jumping (which he shouldn't be doing seeing as he is a lump) He definitely wants to be a show jumper when he grows up. Milton had nothing on scopey SPup 🤣

LBF2020 · 04/03/2022 20:42

Pictures wouldn't post 😣

Magnificent beast.

Puppy hurt herself leaping at furniture during her evening zoomies. Definitely moving slightly gingerly today. Can't get a vet appointment so I suppose I'll just not walk her (but she is sitting in front of the front door panting expectantly). Poor silly dog.

She has learnt sit, lie down, up, down, DROP IT, wait and shake paws. Now working on play dead (bangbang!).

SirChenjins · 05/03/2022 08:56

He’s gorgeous @LBF2020 - very impressive jump!

ChenPup fell down some stairs the other day - he tripped over a shoe he was carrying in his mouth. Looked very embarrassed and limped a bit, which sent me into a panic. Fed him some of his favourite sprats as a treat and miraculously the limp disappeared.

Autumn101 · 05/03/2022 09:07

Such a good action shot!!

Hope she’s ok soon Abitbesotted, mine has zero common sense and is frequently running and crashing into things or launching himself through the air. I’m sure under his fur he must be covered in bruises

We weighed him today and the little chunk is 9.3kg, 6 weeks ago when we got him he was only 4.4kg!!

sandwiches77 · 05/03/2022 13:29

Booked sandwichpup into kennel club bronze award training starts tomorrow. Anyone got experience?

Aria20 · 05/03/2022 13:33

@sandwiches77 we enjoyed bronze and silver. Took a break as gold class is later in the evenings and DH couldn't guarantee he'd be home every week in time to put dd to bed. Hoping to go back soon though!

sandwiches77 · 05/03/2022 13:53

Sounds like you would recommend Aria20? I've read the Kennel club website but what sort of things did you do for Bronze?

tizwozliz · 05/03/2022 14:53

I thought parts of the KC Bronze looked quite difficult, e.g. the 1 minute sit stay. We're working towards this for our grade 1 gundog but pup cannot consistently do it.

OP posts:
Aria20 · 05/03/2022 17:38

@sandwiches77 yes a 1 minute stay on a mat in either a sit or down - they can't change half way through though! Also they have to "wait" at a gate or door while you go through first. Walk to heel nicely around other people. Recall but it only about 10 steps away. There were a couple of other things that I can't remember, bronze was fine.

Silver was harder - 2 minute stay. Recall away from other dogs - which by miracle mine did on the exam but she doesn't in real life lol. Loose lead walk along pavement and sit and wait to cross the road and loose lead back. No jumping up when greeting the examiner. Getting in and out of car nicely. Leaving food. Recall from a sit and "wait" at the other end of the room. Oh and letting the examiner check their ears and paws etc. it is good and worth doing.
