@LadyCatStark I quite liked the term ‘twatador’ when I heard it 🤣

GuyFawkesDay · 01/11/2021 18:48

I know 3 adolescent cocker spaniels. Owned by people who don't know each other. They are known respectively as Knobhead, Dickhead Dog and Twatdog 🤣

This doesn't bode well, does it?

Mine gets called Fartface a lot. It's the most insulting I can get with kids about 😆

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 01/11/2021 19:56

Which version of MW is Ada on @tizwozliz? We were using Arden Grange

tizwozliz · 01/11/2021 20:32

We're currently feeding gundog, but were also recommended utility or duck and veg. That was based on emailing with their nutritionist a couple of months back. We also said we wanted something fishy as that's what Ada seems to like.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 01/11/2021 20:33

I will try it

tizwozliz · 01/11/2021 20:39

I don't know how tailored the recommendations are, we gave breed, age, current weight etc. Ada skirts the line between ok and underweight on the weight charts but doesn't look skinny imo. They're pretty quick to respond.

The moist hearty training treats they do are great too.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 01/11/2021 21:00

Their online guide suggests Riverside, Ranger or Farmer. Merlin is quite a tall boy and 21+kg. He isn't underweight but I wouldn't describe him as overweight either but I can see he could easily get there as he is pressuring for nosh all the time

Aria20 · 01/11/2021 21:23

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse we are finishing up "peak performance" as she was underweight and that's a high fat one! We've also tried countryside, gamekeeper and ranger. Pup also likes the semi moist hearty treats.

GuyFawkesDay · 01/11/2021 21:26

FawkesPup still has the arse of doom. Poo is ok in morning, soft in afternoon. I'm tempted to move away from Eden and MWH is chicken free isn't it?

He's had chicken and turmeric sausage grated in his kongs and holy moly he absolutely stinks.

cheeseisthebest · 01/11/2021 21:31

We've always used Billy and Margot. High meat content and no farts! Hard poos as well.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 01/11/2021 21:38

Lol any prospective puppy owners need to read the last two pages here. It has it all: lack of sleep, biting, chewing, poo consistency, vomit and general twattiness.

cheeseisthebest · 01/11/2021 21:41

Oh the joys!
Mines started running away from me looking scared! God knows what that's all about! Usually he's glued to my ankles!

GuyFawkesDay · 01/11/2021 21:44

Hahahaha puppies are GROSS.

However FawkesPup was a legend at puppy school tonight. It was, for us, a total waste of time really as he does watch, sits, recalls and drops toys well. However, doing it in company is definitely worth the effort and money. He's sparko on the sofa now 🤣

And he dropped a massive stinky fart in the village hall 🤢. I do think it's worth considering another food similar quality to Eden just so I can see whether we can sort out the squishy plop. I do think chicken sensitivity might be our issue.....

Aria20 · 01/11/2021 22:09

@GuyFawkesDay millies is chicken and grain free. Lol at stinking out the village hall!

GuyFawkesDay · 01/11/2021 22:32

Yeah the Eden is grain free and their country cuisine flavour chicken free too. Might try a small bag of that and see if it helps. If it doesn't then I'll move him after Xmas. Getting to bottom end of my big bag so good time to think about it.

Bless him, he was fidgety in the hall, and farty. Came home and did a big old poop outside. Think he was holding it in?!!

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 02/11/2021 05:54

Pup treated puppy trainer to a wee and poo one week. She was 😲 at volume of urine and size of the pile plus the stench which travels.

News from the sofa....he slept 12-5 so company is a factor. He did have 180g for tea so hunger would definitely not have been an issue. Think I'm gong to take a step back and start sleep training again to reset whatever has upset it whether adolescence, hunger or secondary fear

Camper82 · 02/11/2021 06:14

I’m sorry to hear about your DH @Aria20. How are you, your children and pup? I hope you hear back from your trainer and a behaviourist soon.

These last two pages have been a comfort to read Wink

CamperPup went into his crate at 10.30, I was up at 3 when he needed ti go outside, did a wee then cried at me to go back inside. It was pouring with rain so I didn’t force him ti stay out. DH was up with him for the same at 4. Then pup is up at 5 for the day, having done a huge poo in his crate Envy

We’ve been using tails for food, it is supposedly tailored to him but he seems to always be hungry. Not sure what to do as I don’t want to over feed him. Poo is solid and easy to pick up so I think he’s actually ok.

Training was better now the DC are back at school. If we go outside and there are treats in my pocket he is glued to my feet. If not he’s off behind the bushes to eat whatever he can find, which was rabbit poo last week!

Today will be the longest we have left him whilst we both go to work. DH is having the morning off, then leaving at 12.30/1 and I will be home at 3.45. Hope it goes ok!

GuyFawkesDay · 02/11/2021 07:28

Hope it goes well @Camper82. Mine loves "rabbit caviar" in the park too, bleurgh!!!

Back to whining in the crate overnight here too. Took him out to the loo and he positively refused to go out! Clearly didn't want a wee and just wanted to be skulking about in the house.

Going to have to try something new. Maybe crate and me downstairs in the study for a night or two then I go upstairs. I've had enough of this!

BaconAndAvocado · 02/11/2021 08:41

Aria20
tizwozliz
Thanks for that.

Regarding farts, Newboy's are truly weapons of mass destruction and my sense of smell is inhibited post-Covid 😂

Big success this morning, I came down at 6 to find one smell wee in the kitchen and NO POOS!!!!!

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 02/11/2021 09:19

I'm sat waiting for a call to say DD out of theatre and the tales of woe re sleep and poo are strangely comforting. I don't feel so alone in my puppy fails.@Camper82 how old is your pup?

@GuyFawkesDay I've just decided to start all over again in the hope he sleeps longer with reassurance and once reestablished I'll move back to bed. He was doing really well until about 10-14 days ago. Coincided with heavy rain and dark evenings.

GuyFawkesDay · 02/11/2021 09:27

I think I need to bite the bullet with him now. He definitely can sleep all night but he likes to potter about. The crate I've been given is nice and big. I've covered it with old curtains for now. He's eating his snacks and meals in there and has been in a few times for a chill. I've put his fave donut bed in there. Hopefully I can use this or the one he's sleeping in, which is smaller but he's used to it. I'll sleep on the camp bed in the kitchen for a few nights and see how we go. He's waking at 5, so old 6am which was always his "get up"

tizwozliz · 02/11/2021 09:55

What size crate do you have @MakeMeCleanTheHouse ?

We were wondering if Ada was finding her crate a bit too small, she does like the superman position when sleeping and when she was little we had the same disturbed sleep until we took the divider out. We're going to try her in her bed in the hallway and leave the crate for now. But if that doesn't work out I'll look at getting a bigger crate.

BaconAndAvocado · 02/11/2021 10:00

Newboy has a covered crate (never with door shut) but also uses a normal comfy dog bed to sleep or nap in.

I'm not sure which one he uses in the night as he's always awake when I come down at 6.
His last night time nap is usually in the crate.

BaconAndAvocado · 02/11/2021 10:03

Currently bathing in the sunshine 🙂

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 02/11/2021 11:34
